JOURNAL: CompyFranko (Frank Gandara)

  • My Grand Scheme continued 2005-01-10 03:13:50 My Inu Yasha AMV is coming along well. I have only just starting to work on it. The reason why I haven't worked on it much yet is because I didn't have time during the school semester. But now school is out and Winter Break is well underway, and I have enough time to work on it . I have to hurry though. I have to go back to school at January 31, and I am only up to the 10th DVD. Actually, I am not even that far. I have get the clips for some DVD's I had already done because I messed up and I didn't upload the clips in the correct compression mode.

Its not so bad though. I can get through the Inu Yasha DVD's pretty quickly. There are whole episodes where I don't need to upload any clips at all because there is not romantic intercourse between Inu Yasha and Kagome. I know I am supposed to be getting all the clips I can, but when I am going through all 26 DVD's of Inu Yasha, its helpful that I don't need to upload clips from every episode. I'm also getting clips from the movies, too.

I am not working on the AMV as much as I should. My friends keep on inviting me to play video games, and I keep accepting. I have to get my priorities in order. But another reason why I haven't been working so much is because it feels too much like work. Where my first AMV was a fun new experience, this AMV feels like a chore. The song for the AMV is starting to get on my nerves, too. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to hunker down and get it done. I just have to keep in mind how cool the video will be when its actually finished.

I never would have been able to do this without my friend Kristen. Here's some e-mails for the archives.

"Hey Kristen, its Frank from anime club. Happy New Year! Did you get my voice mail on your cell phone?

I am finished with the five Inu Yasha DVDs you let me borrow. I got a lot of material from the first episode and the opening sequence. Lucky for me, there aren't too many instances between Inu Yasha and Kagome that are romantic in those first episodes, so I got through the DVDs pretty quickly. Still, I already have lots of good material to use.

Can I come by some time to return the DVDs to you and pick up some new ones? I have your address here, and I can find a map to your house. Or perhaps we could arrange a meeting somewhere?

I hope you had a cheerful holiday season. Hopefully your busy job isn't getting you down. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Franko"

    To which she replied:

"Hi! I did get your phone message, however, when I went to retrieve your number in my phone system under "missed calls", your number did not come up. When you called the message came up as "private number" and, sadly, I don't answer those without numbers or numbers I don't recognize....

The next batch of DVDs are set for you if you would like me to drop them off at your house sometime this week...directions to your house would be helpful since I have forgotten where you live (at least I know it's down ****************. in ******* somewhere).... so let me know when a good time to drop those off is and I'll swing by. =^__^=

    Kristen"
  • My Grand Scheme 2004-09-27 01:01:16 I have begun work on a new AMV. I shall not disclose the name of the song, but the anime is Inu Yasha. I heard this song awhile ago, and I thought it would go perfect with Inu Yasha. Unfortunately, so did couple of other people. There is already another Inu Yasha AMV with the same song. The song is great, but it isn't that well known, and so I thought that I would have the monopoly on it.

Oh well. Although I was not first, perhaps I can make up for that in the quality of my AMV. I plan on doing extensive work on this AMV; perusing all Inu Yasha video source material. This includes the entire series so far, and the first three movies.

The reason why I am working on this AMV is because the song goes so perfectly to Inu Yasha. It would be a crime if I didn't use my abilities to create this work of art. However, I myself am only a casual fan of Inu Yasha, and so do not own any of the video source needed to carry out this project. Thankfully, a Friend of mine is the biggest Inu Yasha fan. She is lending me all of the Inu Yasha series, and the three movies. Here is an e-mail I wrote her:

Oh hey (Friend). Good hearing from you. I will be on campus on Thursday. I won't be able to call you, because I don't have a cell phone. However, I will certainly be at the hot dog stand working. Its a blue tent between Juice It Up and the Humanities Building. Thank you so much for aiding me in my GRAND SCHEME. Trust me, when my great vision is finally realized, you will feel honored to have been apart of it. (I'll include you in the credits, if it be your wish.)

I'll bring the proposed song and a CD player. Hearing the song will surely dissipate any hesitencies you may have in aiding me.

Could you answer a few things for me about the InuYasha series. About how many episodes are there total? How many episodes do you own? How many episodes are on each DVD? I predict that this prospect of mine should take me about an entire semester to complete.

Please accept a monetary collateral from me in return for letting me borrow these DVD's. This is to be repaid to me at the premiere of the AMV.

    Frank G. (CompyFranko)

I definitely have my work cut out for me, and I predict this to be at least a four month project. If I can realize my vision, though, it will well be worth it.

  • Just put up my first AMV 2004-05-04 00:12:19 All right, I just put up my first AMV. Big-O to the music "Deeper Underground" by Jamiroquai. It took me all week to make it. It took me a few days alone just to rip my sources, but I learned a lot.

I had first shown it to my friends at a recent get together. I had just finished the editing, and it was all of its pure uncompressed glory. I didn't know how to compress it yet, but as long as it was viewable, I could show my friends.

I thought it was pretty good, but of course I'm biased towards my own work. I wanted to know what other people thought. I aired the video at my party. Would they like it? I hoped so.

I was pleasantly surprised (and a bit embarrassed, I'll admit) to hear my friends applaud when it finished. They even suggested that I enter it into Anime Expo. I thought it was good, but not that good.

Well, I wanted to know what other AMV creators thought. I perused the site where I got the guides to help me make my AMV (this site, of course) and I found forums and a members area.

I immediately joined and put up my AMV. I met Requiett in the chat room, who rated my AMV. I was quite pleased with its rating, and I thank Requiett for just spending the time to check it out.

I guess I've got the AMV-making bug now, because I'm already thinking about what my next AMV will be.
