My god, I can't believe how many grammar and spelling errors I made. Not yet used to this whole online journal thing yet. :P

And so I begin my journal

Having just learned how to make AMVs last winter break, it wouldn't seem that I've had much experience yet. Actually, let's just beging with how all this anime stuff began.
Before there was anime, there was Star Wars. Everything was Star Wars. Anime was just that Japanese animation thing, and it meant little to me. Even having seen random eps of Evangelion and Kenshin(the Saitoh/Kenshin fight) didn't turn me towards the popular form of entertainment.
After discovering Kodomo No Omocha through some fansubs my friend had left me, I began a search for more Kodocha online. This was about two years ago, mind you, back in the times when Realmedia versions of fansubs were still popular to distribute. The only high quality stuff I could find were Anime Music Videos. I gathered maybe 40-50, maybe 10 of which I was really impressed with. Guess, that's how I got familiar with AMVs.
I guess the next big step into true anime fandom was joining Cal Animage Alpha, Berkeley's Anime club. By now I've already created over a dozen promo videos/music videos for the club(I was accepted as an officer midway through the Fall 2001 semester), but have already decided to retire from that line of work.
With the upcoming Anime Expo AMV contest coming soon, I guess the only way to regain my faith in making AMVs is to enter. Generally, I feel less and less enthusiastic about my editing capabilities. But as an amateur director, I feel like I have gotten better at turning a randomly assigned project into a working, effective promotional video for CAA's next week's showing.
So here begins my attempt at trying to regain my faith that I can create something great.
