Oh, so men are the problem, huh?
;) Kidding. I know you meant nothing personal. No offense taken.

I finished reading Fushigi Yugi Manga Volume 8 today.
<<spoilers>>
Nuriko died.
I knew it was coming.
I'll still miss him/her. Misty called it, she/he went out fighting.
Although I did not like it when Nuriko told Miaka that she/he was thinking of giving up the crossdressing. From there, I knew the next step was that Nuriko would develop feelings for Miaka, although given that he/she was never really homosexual, just mourning his sister, it makes sense that he could have had feelings for Miaka from the very beginning. However... even given that I knew he was going to die, it's still sad. I liked Nuriko...
Still, given that I had previously seen Nuriko as a conflicted homosexual who desired to be a woman so he could be with the man he loved, the whole, "I was never really gay" thing just screams of, "OH, C'MON, WATASE!" to me. Still, the change shows that Nuriko had more than one side to his character, and I suppose life would be boring if people were always exactly what you think they are. Change is a dynamic, and dynamics make for good stories.
I'll miss that crazy bitch. ;)
I wish I had the series now. I SOOO want to do a Nuriko video right fucking NOW.
On another note, I've seen some screencaps of the series, and a couple videos, and I am curious...
Why are the character's hair wierd colors? In the manga (at least the covers, which are in color, and very nicely drawn, I wish I had a flatbed scanner so I could make a wallpaper) the character's hair is normal colors. The lightness seems to change in the manga depending on the emotion of the scene ( Miaka, Tamahome, and Nuriko seem to suddenly have lighter hair in scenes that are very heavily romantic/love oriented), but on the covers, their hair varies from black to brown (Tasuki's is always red, natch). Tamahome has black hair on one, brown on another. Understandable given the inconsistency of the hair color in the manga. However, why do they suddenly have green hair and violet hair and blue hair in the series? Do the animators suck so much at rendering hairstyles that we can't tell Tamahome from Chichiri without wild dye jobs?
Miaka: "Tamahome, I can't live without you!!"
Chichiri: "I'm not Tamahome. He's down the hall, on the left, no da."
Miaka: "ACK!! I thought that was Mitsukake! Oh, if only we all had wierd hair colors so I could tell who I kissed last night!"
I don't mind wierd hair colors, it's a staple of anime, but when the manga characters have normal hair colors, and suddenly, in medieval China no less, they have green and blue hair, it bugs me. Bah. I still want it.

Sucks to hear you had no fun at your graduation party, man.
On the upside,. you can now begin to get ready for a new life somewhere else, and put bad memories behind you.
I know this is going to be absolutely unhelpful in any way, because you've mostlikely already thought of it, but you might try contacting the journalism department of your school and see if they have any journalism-specific grants or scholarships. Maybe somwething in exchange for working pro bono at the school paper?
I don't know what all you've tried, but give the department itself a shot. Also, try this.

CONGRATS!!!!!
WOOOT!!!
Ya know, I always find it depressing when they say that High School is the best years of your life. That means it only gets worse from there on out.
Keep a stiff upper lip, there, old chap. ;)

Jeezus Christ, the local downloads for Mink Has a Big Butt just keep on climbing and climbing...
I wonder if that should scare me...
