New vid is currently in the works
2002-03-13 21:54:54
I have been working on my newest vid for the past couple days. It doesn't have a name yet, and it's only about %30 done by my estimation. I liked the idea from the get-go. This may be the one that's good enough to send in to an AMV contest...
You can look up the vids page on my profile for yourself if you want. Or, go here. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/video.php?v=6730
The basic concept is that it portrays the relationship between Lain and Arisu as if they were lesbians...
NOT HENTAI!!! I repeat, NOT HENTAI!! This is a romance vid!! No sex or nudity!!
...perverts. ~_^

Vid download problems
2002-03-12 17:41:39
If you try to download one of my vids, and it says you can't, please try again later. I'm using Angelfire to host my vids, and they only allow 1GB in bandwidth for the free sites.
If you can't get it now, please try again later.

New idea!!
2002-03-11 14:17:17
I love it when you can see the entire vid in your head before you even create the Premiere project and cut footage...
I was listening to several diferent songs on my list, when I was hit with a fantastic idea for a vid. I am currently cutting footage.
I can see 80-90% of the thing in my head... It's a good feeling. I was the same way with my "Spike..." vid. "Memories" kind of came together on its own, which is why I think the editting quality is not quite as good as "Spike...".
BTW, I am also going to re-make "Memories", so if you've seen it already, there is a new version in the works. If you haven't, go ahead and download it, but keep in mind that there is a new version coming.

I think I may have found one of my problems as a beginning edittor...
2002-03-04 09:26:44
I had a revelation today. I was showing my Memories vid to someone, and the person mentioned that they thought Ryoko came off as kind of a bitch. (Which gave me a vid idea, but more on that later). That was when I realized that, when making a vid, you have to consider what the video clip ITSELF is saying, NOT what was hapening in the sequence at the time.
Example. My Memories vid uses clips from the scene in Tenchi the Movie 2 when Mayuka and Ryoko get into a heated cat-fight. In the movie, Ryoko was concerned for Tenchi's welfare, and thought Mayuka was a genuine threat to him. However, in the clip, it just looks like she's kicking the crap out of poor little Mayuka for no reason.
From here on out, I'm going to remember to consider what the clip, not the scene, is saying.
...Thats all I've got.

If only there were a codec that gave lossless quality with lossy filesize...
2002-02-18 22:19:17
The title says it all. I've been trying to encode my vid as an mpeg with TMPEGnc. I've been having trouble, however, getting a file that has both good quality and decent filesize. (I think my standards of quality may be a bit too high. I keep comparing it to the huffyuv version I exported from premiere.)
I currently have a 21 MB version that has passable quality, although I'd like one better. I wish I could remember how I made the 44 MB one, because except for one flaw which I discovered how to fix (Slow fade + watercolor-type background + lossy codec = crap.), it was pretty good in terms of video quality.
Eventually, I'll get it right...
