JOURNAL: Chaos Angel (Dave Warren)

  • For all who care to look. 2002-05-15 14:47:19 I have made two very big (at least to me) decisions about the remake of my Memories vid.

    (1) I have decided to abandon the "Ayeka and Ryoko discuss past events in Ryoko's life" theme, because (A) by taking out the scenes that help to enforce that particular theme, I open myself up for better scenes that fit the mood and lyrics of those sections better, and (B) I feel more freedom of expression when I do not have to worry about maintaining the discussion aspect of it.

The vid's theme now is more along the lines of "Ryoko reflects upon her past". I feel I can work with that better, especially since Ayeka doesn't really figure very prominently in the video.

    (2) I have decided not to release the remake to the public until (A) Golden Donut can get off of the ground, or, barring GD (Goddess forbid), I can (B) find a really good host that will allow me more leeway in terms of filesize and bandwidth than Angelfire. I may still send it off to a Con, however, if I think it is good enough. Hopefully I will be able to go if I decide to submit, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

  • A revalation. Thank you UncleMilo. 2002-05-06 18:54:20 A post by UncleMilo in Off Topic (<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phorum/read.php?f=4&i=18417&t=18417">Here</a href>) has made me realize that I was operating under an unfair generalization.

His post was this, in reference to a Hot Anime Girl question.

"I hate people who answer questions like these with "I prefer real women"... It just ticks mre off... because the question is asked in good fun, but you just feel the need to put your big foot in and act like a smug git..."

I realized when I read this that, when I answer such questions with "I prefer real women", I was operating under the broad generalization that people who talk about going out with and marrying anime characters are avoiding reality and living in fantasy. I realize now that it's just good fun. Speculation and, yes, maybe living out your fantasies a little. I normally do not feel very comfortable with Hot Anime Girl threads because I sometimes have a loose grip on reality (Not kidding), so I try to avoid slipping into fantasy too much, but now I realize that it's all in good fun. I really need to lighten up... ;)

So, I will leave people alone who wish to indulge their fantasies a little. I may also chip in a little something. We'll see...

    (Ayeka all the way!!!)

  • All for the Golden Donut. 2002-04-29 16:29:34 Two things. One is standard journal stuff. I've had a few nifty vid ideas pop into my mind, and I will mentally refine them while I work on re-making Memories.

The second, for all who care to look at this journal, is my opinion on Operation: Golden Donut.

I am all for this. It's worth my $5-10 a month (or more if I can afford it), not just to help Phade out in exchange for all he's done for us, but to have my vids reliably hosted. All who are sick of Angelfire, Geocities, etc., you know what I am talking about when I say that I am sick and tired of having my site killed for bandwidth, TOS, etc. I've been looking into getting a real web site anyway, so I have no problem with Golden Donut at all. I will give the money. I am willing to help out however I can.

AMV EDITORS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!! LONG LIVE THE GOLDEN DONUT!!
  • New Vid and a personal note 2002-04-28 01:01:52 I replaced Troubles in Wonderland for my newest vid, a short little comedy piece that I've entered into OTAKON 2002. It's The Best Part of Waking Up. I love this video.

Angelfire killed one of my two accounts, so I can only put up one vid instead of two. I'll have to start switching them around.

On a personal note, I finally got around to beginning work on re-making Memories. I'm trying to strike a balance between toning down the distracting mouth movements and maintaining the "Ryoko and Ayeka discuss past events" theme. So, the mouths still move a bit, but I'm cutting out the more obvious ones.

I am actually kind of pumped about re-making it. I plan to cut some Tenchi Forever footage to use. Theres quite a few scenes that leap to mind immediately as being useful.

    'Til later days.
  • Doh! 2002-04-14 14:59:51 I just realized my journal has a hit counter... doh. Well, the contest stands.
