Interesting weekend

This weekend was interesting. First, I get SMJ vol 2 & 3 in. Then, I go home and kind of chill. Saturday, I go to drill, and we have an awards ceremony then get dismissed early for Family Day. I took my cousin and my sister. They had fun (although Katie was acting kind of pissy at the end. What she gets for wearing pants and long sleeves in frikken August.). Then, that evening, Scott, Mom, and Nana made an entire Asian meal from scratch. Except for the chili dip which Scott and I fucked up, it was DAMN good.
Sunday, I went to drill, we had to shoot the Wing Phto, which involved coming in an hour early to set up. I was hot and sleepy afterwards, and eating Mexican for lunch didn't help that any. Bummed around all afternoon because I had no jobs to work on, then we got released an hour early since we came in an hour early. ^_^
Went to buy some Pocky at the Asian Food Market I didn't know we had until Scott told me about it, then picked up Adam and Kristie to go home. Got lost on the highway, and it took us an extra hour to get home. I missed Oblongs as a result. ::cries::
Came up with a new idea for a video (see below) which I think will have more substance than MA would/will, so I am putting MA on hold. Again, see previous entry for details.
That's about it. I have nothing else.

I've decided to put Mindless Action on hold for a little while. I got a video idea that I like better, and besides, Mindless Action is more of an experimental piece. The basic concept of it, which I don't think I mentiond before, is basically random action clips from various series set to a fast-paced J-Rock song so I don't have to worry about lyric syncs. In other words, Mindless Action is pretty much just editting practice. I had an idea for a "real" video pop into my head on the drive back home, and I want to go for it instead.
So, I am going to put Mindless Action on the back burner and work on something that is going to have a little more substance to it.
Yeah, I'm wishy-washy. Bleah.
Tentative title of the new new video project: "Skid Row". Subject to possible change later, but the title may or may not give you some clue of what the new idea will be like. -

I've decided to enforce some measure of self-control when making my new video, tentatively titled "Mindless, Pointless Action" (tentative because I may remove the "Pointless" part and just make the title "Mindless Action"). Usually, I work on each part of the video as I feel like it. I.E., I work out all of the effects, synching, etc., for a certain part of the video before moving on to the next part. For this onbe, I've decided that first, I will set my clips up the way I like them, THEN work on all of the skippy effects. ^_^
I finally feel like my abilities are at the point where I can make one of those videos with flashy effects and tight editting that make people drop their jaws in astonishment.
We'll see how it turns out, I suppose. If I like it enough, I may ship it off to the Otakon contest for next year. I'd like to have SOMETHING to enter into Otakon, since I am going to go next summer, barring Fate conspiring against me that is. However, if it doesn't work out for whatever reason (although I have a really good feeling about it) I think I will send off Course of Action. Despite what I was saying about it during my... bad mood previously (if you saw it before I got embarrased and made it private, you know what I am talking about. If not, well, consider yourself lucky), I do really like the video. However, if Mindless Action (yeah, I think I like that title better. The "Pointless" part just feels like bad juju) turns out the way I want it too, then I will send it off to Otakon, and I may send Course of Action to ACEN just to see how it does. Whether I will be able to go to ACEN or not, I dunno. I am focusing my efforts on Otakon. If I can go to ACEN, that will be a nice bonus, but Otakon is my primary focus.
Of course, this is assuming MA is FINISHED before ACEN. I have no idea what will pop up and how long this video will take when you figure my classes into the mix.
We'll see, I suppose. -
New Video Idea

I got an idea for a video today. I can't start on it right away, I have to find some good footage to use for it. But, I have a good vibe about it (for now... ^_^)
I even have a Title for it already (titles usually take me awhile to come up with something I like).
Mindless, Pointless Action.
The title says it all. No plot, no deep, insightful meaning. Just fun with editting and completely random, pointless action.
