  • Ha ha... 2003-08-19 23:57:12 The videos I've done that include Trigun clips are at 200 and 167 local downloads.

Mink has a Big Butt is at 96.

Course of Action and Bran-New Oh My Goddess Video are at roughly 25.

I find it funny that the Trigun videos and the fanservice-y video have the most downloads. Maybe I should make a Trigun Fan-service video and REALLY rake in the popularity!

::kills that line of thought right ferkin' now::
  • Directed mostly towards Flint, Misty, and BTTWS, because you guys seem to have good taste. ;) 2003-08-13 01:38:15 http://www.livejournal.com/users/strawberrycocoa/69015.html?mode=reply

Short version is that I am considering posting a video beta on my Livejournal account for critique and scene ideas because I am coming up with nothing. I plan to post it in a small custom group of people whose opinions I trust for whatever reason, and I would be remiss if I did not ask you guys for assistance.

Unfortunately, I am only allowed to generate 1 invite code because I am not a paying user, so I can only give a code to one of you. Of course, if you guys have no interest in getting a Livejournal account you have no intention of ever using beyond the one time (I know you expressed a lack of interest in a LJ account, CJ), I can always send the video to you via AIM or Yahoo, and you can e-mail me any comments later.

In either event, if it is at all possible, I'd love it if you guys would be able to help with scene ideas and tear apart what little I have. ^^
  • 2003-08-11 12:46:38 I just got back in from Otakon early this morning. Had to leave on Sunday because CJ (flint_the_dwarf) has work on Tuesday, so I didn't do any Sunday stuff, but there wasn't much aside from the closing ceremonies, so I'm not too broken up about it.

Left for Aurora on Tuesday to pick up CJ and head to Athens for leg one of the trip. Made much better time than at ACen, and actually arrived on time this time around. Found his place, picked him up, and shipped on out almost without complication....

The trip to Athens was somewhat uneventful, except for me turning onto the wrong stretch of freeway at first ( >_< ). The toll roads and construction outside Aurora were horrible, and I don't care what anyone says, I know someone up there was mocking me. ;)

Got in Ohio and met up with Misty (MistyCaldwell) and Kevin (bttws) about 2 AM. Followed them to their place and hung out until about 5 AM. Tried to watch DVDs, but I hadn't brought the controller for the DVD player, and it's useless without one. Scatterbrained...

We all slept until about 3 PM (technically, I slept until 5, but you didn't hear that from me) on Wednesday. CJ and I thought Misty and Kevin were still sleeping, (they were being quiet because they thought WE were still sleeping), so we tried to find the Walmart to get a cheap universal remote, but failed. Went back, and caught Kevin and Misty leaving to find us. They thought we might have gotten lost. ^^

We all went to Walmart, I got a cheap (and very bad) universal remote, and we went to get some take-out chinese food, and then went back to watch stuff and hang out. We watched a few episodes of Ranma 1/2, all of FLCL and the Animatrix, and a couple episodes of Fushigi Yugi until 4 AM-ish, and started out for Maryland about 12-ish on Thursday.

Driving through the Appalachian mountains was absolutely gorgeous. So many times, I wished that I had had a camera to take pictures of the mountains and trees and stuff. It was absolutely beautiful. I love forest land (why I love playing Green in Magic: The Gathering)

Got to Maryland, found the hotel (turned out to be a truck-stop hotel, which explains the cheap price), and went to get in line at the convention center for the pre-reg. We just got to the front of the line when CJ noticed the org gathering party. As soon as I went up to see when they were planning on leaving for someplace to eat, the line started moving, so I jumped back in. It only took us 15 minutes to get our badges, but they were gone when we got out, which sucked, but what can ya do? We went back to the hotel and slept.

Friday, we checked out some of the overflow AMVs before going to the dealers room. Nice place the dealers room, too bad only one table had a good price on DVDs. I got A Night On the Galactic Railroad. Never heard of it before, but (A) it was cheap, and (B), something about it just called to me. [Buy meeeee.... buuuuyyyyyyyy meeeeeeeeee..... NOW!!]. Had some lunch (I love Odwalla now, it's a swedish fruit drink with vitamins and stuff. Very, VERY flavorful; it was like a blueberry punched me in the face), went to an interesting workshop on the anime production process (I was the worst mecha designer ever!!), hung around some more, went to Radioshack to buy a modulator so I could hook up the DVD Player and Playstation to the TV ($30, gonna return it because I don't need it), went back, hung, and caught MAT3K, which was great, and the first part of the AMV contest. Met up with org people there, and fun was had until we had to leave at 11:45 to get my car out of the parking garage before it closed... >_<

Saturday, first thing we did was the AMV creation workshop. To be honest, there was almost nothing covered that I haven't already picked up from the forums and guides, but it was fun meeting people, however brief for some.

Went to the second showing of the contest afterwards with a group of creators. Good contest, some of the categories were hard to vote in. Lee Sheng's Tricky video... I fell for it, I admit it. I figured he was being tongue-in-cheek comical, not satirical and mocking. It went right over my head until DWchang told me about the video's basic concept as a mockery of the con-going crowd. >_< Damn my inability to grasp subtleties. If the point isn't being made with a damn sledgehammer, I need more than one viewing to get it.

Subtlety is NOT my strongpoint. But one viewing of my videos will show you that, so I shall not digress further.

I don't think one particular video deserved to win in it's category, but the others I think worked out nicely (congrats, Daniel!). I didn't find out what the results were, though, until after the masquerade, because I didn't know they were being announced BEFORE the masquerade... >_<. Thanks to Sarahtheboring for telling me the results.

Anyway, after the contest, hung around with some people (dwchang, vicbond007, doki doki, ashyukun, flint_the_dwarf, and one other person who's name/handle I didn't catch, my apologies about that). Was going to tag along to the dealers room with them, but en route, Kevin called and asked if we wanted to go out and grab some dinner. At that point, CJ and I had not had so much as a granola bar all day, so we accepted. Sorry about that, guys, but I am not exaggerating; when we left you guys, it was literally our first meal of the day.

Had Burger King, then went to the dealers room. I looked around for the others while walking around with CJ, Kevin, and Misty, but didn't see them. Browsed around , got lost and seperated a few times (thank goodness we had cell phones), bought some art CDs, almost bought a kuro-neko-sama plushie, then got kicked out. Watched more videos (MistyCaldwell is right, best RPG parody EVER in the fan parodies, I need a copy like hurting), then retired to the hotel for Fushigi Yugi, Subway subs, and sleep (factoid: I scared everyone to death by almost choking on an ice cube [no, not on purpose... -_-]).

Woke up at 10 (9 Central), left by 11 (10), and due to a shorter route and much speed-limit breaking, made it back to Illinois and back home safely in one day. No hotel between. >_<m/.

And guess what? It is now 12:30 PM Central. I have been awake for 27.5 hours STRAIGHT, baby, and while I am a bit tired, I don't feel like going to sleep. My Guard paycheck came in while I was gone, and it's more than I thought it would be. I refunded the modulator and unimote, and bought a cheap $40 DVD-ROM that should last until I can save up enough for a DVD+R/+RW. So, now I can actual;ly rip stuff for some video ideas. I had a bunch of ideas for a NieA_7 video I've been considering on the drive back, and frankly, I'm afraid to go to sleep or I might lose them.

Had my first Pepsi Vanilla today as well. It's smoother than Vanilla Coke, but lacks the ice cream float-y taste that I like. It's still good, though; the vanilla is more subtle and kind of makes an almost new flavor instead of tasting like two flavors mixed together.

Misty and CJ, let me know when you guys want me to mail you the stuff. I know all three of us will be moving to various places by the end of the month, so... sometime after that.

    Other bitchy-news...

The CD I got from Will Milberry contains his "lost video" that he made a few years ago and forgot about. It uses Ordinary World by Duran Duran.

    ...

...I WANTED TO MAKE A VIDEO TO THAT SONG!! (I just have no idea what anime to use...)

See, one problem I have when I get ideas for songs that I have seen used in videos before, is that I subconsciously reference said video in my scene ideas. To combat this, I am not going to watch Will's Lost Video until I (A) make my own, or (B) forsake the idea entirely. I saw enough of Will's video (one second in the middle just to make sure it was the same song and to identify the anime) to know that he used Sailor Moon, which I do not have, so that's no issue.

I think that's all the random crap I have for now. If I think of something I forgot, I'll post it.

(...this reads more like a diary entry than a con report... meh.)
