Wee!!
2002-10-10 21:49:34
I have created not just one, but two title bumpers!! Woot!!
The first took me a few nights of off-and-on work. It features massive amounts of text integration, words and symbols that show some of the emotions I feel and that describe me, all set to a piece of Green Bird from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. Very pretentious and artsy-fartsy. Most people will probably hate it.
The second is radically different. When I bought Premiere 6.5, it came with a disc called QuickTracks. What this is is Premiere can create sound clips that are of a certain style that you decide via five multiple choice windows. So, I amde one, and came out with a fifteen-second jazz-styl;e sound clip. I loved it, and I new I wanted to use it for a bumper. But, what to do with it?
The answer: draw a crappily-drawn little chibi, scan her in, and create crappy animation of her dancing to the music.
It's so badly drawn and cheaply animated. I inked it with a standard ball-point pen that can be found in any office store, she looks kind of squashed at times. In other words, it by no stretch of the imagination looks professional. It looks so crappy. But, that's part of what I love about it.
I may put them up later. I'll have to decide whether I want to do it here, or in the forums...

::cries::
2002-10-10 14:48:15
I can't watch Kusoyaro's Sappy Self Indulgence without wanting to cry.
I'm a sucker for good love drama videos, and this is one of the best I've seen.
In other news, I've been ripping clips for the Bastard video I have been planning, but I am growing moire and more unsure of the song I chose each day. See my drama song thread in Video Suggestions for more details.
I really think a different song would work better, but I have to find one first.
Well, anyway, I've already created source clips from all of the scenes in Bastard that I want to use for the video (I.E. all of the ones that pertain to Arshes Nei and her relationship with Dark Schneider), and I've decided how I want to edit it, how I want it to begin, how I want it to end, etc.
The only problem is that I do not believe Ayumi Hayasaki's Ever Free really works for the video the way that I want it to. I love the mood it inspires in me, but I am becoming increasingly more convinced that it isn't the right mood for the video. The more I listen to it, the more convinced I become that it isn't what I need for the effect I want to convey. That, and I really think a song with English lyrics would work better. So, I am going to delete the VOBs (I don't need them anymore anyway), and keep the source clips I've created handy, and put it on hold until I find a better song. In the mean time, I am going to finish creating a bumper title (I like what I have so far), and start work on the highly experimental Lain video I have been thinking of for the past few weeks.
Ya know, all of this appropriateness-of-the-song stuff is making me flash back to Troubles in Wonderland. I got so many reviews where people said the song didn't really work with the pacing of the clips, and looking back, I can see that it doesn't really convey the mood I wanted it too.
Yeah, definitely going to find a better song. And work on the Lain vid. And the title. And school stuff.
ACK!!

BETA MUST DIE!!
2002-10-07 21:29:54
I bought Premiere 6.5, and I'm using it instead of the 6.0 beta I've been using for the last... 9 months.
I love it. True, the beta had most of the same features, but 6.5 has things the beta didn't, and it runs smoother.
I love it. I think I'll get Illustrator 10 next. It's only $99 at my school's bookstore.

In which the Angel of Chaos realizes how much he has missed making subject lines that begin "In which the Angel of Chaos".
2002-10-05 23:59:22
I can't do that anymore because of the size limitations on subject titles the new forums impose.
I just got back from a 9:30 showing of Austin Powers 3.
If it had cost more than $2, I'd call it a rip-off.
I realize I am, like, one of the last people to see the movie by this point, but I think I may have wasted an hour and a half. I started mentally gagging at the gratuitous celebrity cameos, the rehashing of old jokes made me want to smack Jay Roach and Mike Meyers, and the new characters Goldmember and Foxy Cleopatra were ridiculously idiotic. I thought #1 and #2 were hilarious, I was laughing my ass off, but #3 is barely worth the money. Save it for a rental, don't bother with theaters.
Although, it did have it's moments. For some reason, Ozzy Osbourne complaining about the joke re-hashing struck me as funny, and I couldn't help myself on the scene where Austin and Mini-Me were behind the doctor's screen.
Still, I don't recommend it except as a last resort if you're extremely bored. And I have this journal and the forums for that.

Quiche is a delicious treat for the body and the soul
2002-10-05 20:14:08
I had something very interesting happen at drill today. Shannon asked me how I can stand to listen to music where I don't understand the lyrics (my mix discs have a combination of Japanese, English, and a dash of German [Rammstein] on them). I replied simply that I love the way it sounds. She then said I'm wierd.
I'm wierd!! Hoo-ray!! Hoo-ray, Saucer, hoo-ray hooray!!
Then, Shelly said I'm sick because I haven't listened to more than a few snippets of Beatles songs.
I'm sick!! Hoo-ray!! Hoo-ray, Saucer, hoo-ray hooray!!
Maybe if I go in tomorrow blasting out The Pillows or Megumi Hayashibara, and wearing a shirt that shows Jesus crucified, except Ringo Starr's face is taped over Jesus', they'll both have simultaneous strokes!!
Good Lord, I am sick... Yea!!
In other news, I was watching the Escaflowne movie DVD that I found at Walmart today (frikken awesome, I want to see the rest of the series now), and I loved it, but shit just kept popping up. People kept walking in front of the TV when they can plainly see I'm watching something, the phone kept ringing, people kept interrupting me, Dad made the inevitable Speed Racer reference... >_<
Still, a very enjoyable movie. I loved the surreal aspects of it, like the discontinuity editting near the beginning when Hitomi is shifting from Earth to Gaea (Film Analysis class is paying off, it would seem...), it had a great story, and the animation was nothing short of breathtaking, and not in the Disney-bribed-the-critics way you always see in commercials; I mean the real thing. My God, the animation is just stunning. And the soundtrack... Yoko Kanno owns my soul.
That movie shoved Escaflowne up a few notches on my to-get list.
In yet other news, I decided to take down the lniks to Spike and Troubles in Wonderland. It's time to move on. I may distribute them on CDs at future cons as a basis for comparison, but I don't intend on making them available online anymore. I like some of what I did with Spike and TiW, but it's time to move on. I now know more about what I am doing than I did when I made them, and it's time to show that.
When I get back home, I am going to start working on my Bastard video, and I have plans for a very experimental Lain video that I would love to do.
Let the editting commence!!
When I get home, that is... (Wierd that I am calling the dorms home... eh.)
