Dunno where this is coming from, but I realized something very interesting about myself last night. I actually have two distinctly seperate mindsets that work within me and make me who I am. I decided to call them the Intellectual and the Lunatic (no, not multiple personalities, just two vastly different aspects of who I am). Intellectual is the part of me that waxes philosophical, like now, and operates most of the time. The part that makes me smart and able to understand complex issues and to hold a decent conversation (when I can think of what to fucking say... I'm a horrible conversationalist in real life because I never know what to say if the conversation lags. I also hate silence for some reason and feel a need to fill the void with something, anything, just so there's talking). Lunatic is the part of me that is somewhat crazy and will do almost anything to get a reaction out of people. Something of an attention whore, Lunatic will do crazy shit and doesn't care about what other people think, even though it craves the reaction from people and wants to be noticed and admired. Lunatic is responsible for what spontaneousness I have and my desire to not care about people's opinions about me as much as I do. Intellectual tempers Lunatic and stops him from going out of hand, Lunatic gives Intellectual a way to have some fucking fun. Normally, though, Intellectual restrains Lunatic; however, when Lunatic is given free reign without Intellectual's restraint... oh, shit.
I suppose another way of saying it is to call the two sides by the aspects of my SN. Appropriate since the SN is based off of the fact that I, and everyone, are driven by conflicting forces (although I only recently realized how different the two sides are... Last night at SWP was almost all Lunatic). So, you could also say that, for me, Lunatic is Chaos, and Intellectual is Angel. The two sides of my personality, represented in a simple little SN.
Or I could just use Freuds' terms of Id and Superego, since that's basically what I'm talking about when you boil it down. Meh.
Heh. Intellectual may be the side that's smart and witty and clever, and that everyone seems to like, but it's when Lunatic is allowed to have some say in the decision process that I tend to have fun...
Even though I may feel like a pervert afterwards... ^_^

I was watching Kusoyaro's Iron Chef video again today (I love that little thing...), when I realized something vital.
What Hsein Lee throws together in two hours in front of a crowd of people kicks the crap out of anything I could do given all of the time in the world.

Watchng a Kusoyaro and/or More than Toast video always makes me feel good because it reminds me that you don't have to have flashy effects for the video to be amazing.
I have two video ideas for after I finish my DDR project segment that watching Kusoyaro's video has given me much hope for.
Trigun and Fastball... I think it'll work out just fine. -
A few pointers I've learned while working on my current video

Too much of the Gamma Correction Filter can create noise that looks ugly and does not cross-fade well.
The Multiply and Track Matte transparency options can create some interesting visual effects.
Frame by frame editting my suck, but it can yield some interesting results.
Now, for those who have been reading this journal quasi-regularly and have been curious as to what kind of frame-by-frame editting I've been subjecting myself to recently, here's a sample.

I frame-by-framed Lain's eyes over about 8-10 seconds of footage. Hurt like hell, but I love the way it looks. It fades from color to black and white, except for her eyes, and I love the effect.
I'd post a video sample, but naaaaah. Must keep SOME suspense, after all. ;) -

T'day, I was edittin' muh new Lain video, when I decid'd ta do an intrestin' effect. Howeva, Ah found tha ta do wha I wan ta do wi' it, I'm gonna have ta do some frem b' frem edittin'. This 's gonna suck. Hopefulleh, It willna turn out ta be sucky.

So, yeah, to do what I want to do with a part of the video, it's gonna take frame by frame editting!!
