JOURNAL: Chaos Angel (Dave Warren)

  • Kusoyaro joined More Than Toast?!?! 2003-04-01 11:11:39 Man, that is awesome! Kusoyaro and the More Than Toast gang have done some fantastic work, and now they are united as one?!?!

I can see the collaberation videos in my head, and they give me convulsions of joy. ^_^

Hsien, on the off-chance that you see this, somehow, congrats!!
  • 2003-03-30 22:35:24 I've been downloading NieA_7 images like mad, and I now have a quandary. I love the series, and I really want the last two volumes. However, I do not have a bunch of free money for the rest of the semester (I may need to tap into what is currently my free money to pay off bills).

Ok, it's not really a quandary, more like yet another Chaos Angel Bitching Session about money.

    ::cries::

I will say this, though; the facial expressions on some of the characters from a few of the screencaps I found make me want to do a NieA video badly.

I just want the rest of this serries soooo much!!

NieA_7, FLCL, and the Miyazaki films being released are currently prime on my to-get list.

    ::cries:: I need money!!

    Ok, I'm done.

    I will get them eventually!!
  • 2003-03-30 12:49:13 I am now using a fan on loan to me from Ryan down the hall to try to cool down my DVD drive, although I am becoming more and more convinced that the problem lies with my DVD and not the drive.

I don't like hgow DVD Decryptor gives you so little control over whicvh VOB you want to rip, specifically, so I have downloaded a WinDVD trial package and, once my DVD drive cools off a bit, I am going to open it with that (hopefully) and use good ol' Smartripper.

This Akira video better be worth it, dammit...

After this, I have plans for a Cowboy Bebop video I shall call "0100010101100100" (Ed in binary), a video called "She's Only 14!!" (it's not what the tentative title may imply, I assure you), and a video the tentative title of which pretty much gives away both the anime and the song I want to use. "Sweet Second Child of Mine".

    Yeah.

Ok, I think the drive may have cooled off a bit by now (if overheating was ever really the problem, that is, although given how confined it is in my case and how few air holes my case has, I can certainly see that as a viable possibility). I'm gonna try some more ripping experiments.

Oh, and for those who have Windows XP, something I learned today. While you can open up the DVD-drive and transfer the VOBs from DVD to Hard Drive directly, they won't work for crap if you do that (I got nothing but a solid green screen), so don't waste your time.
  • 2003-03-30 11:30:24 Sorry to hear about the drive failure, Devo. Best of luck in getting it replaced!

I'm considering modifying my computer's casing. Nothing big and fancy. I just want to cut some air vents in the side to improve air flow. My DVD drive is still crapping out on me at 55% when ripping my Akira DVD. It goes hella-fast up until it hits 54%-55%, then it just stops. I took off the side casings to see if increasing airflow would help, but with the way my drive is encased within the frame, I dunno. It went fucking fast, faster than I've ever seen a DVD rip before, then it just fucking stopped.

    WHY!?!?!

Maybe it's the DVD, not the drive...

    Ugh.
  • More tidbits of bloggy goodness (WTF is a blog, anyway?) 2003-03-28 23:42:47 I just got back from watching Army of Darkness. God, that was an entertaining mopvie. Very aware of it's own low-budgetness, and very funny and unique. I absolutely loved it.

    I should buy it... ^_^

I got my Guard paycheck in today and, after making a payment to the bursars office, I went out and picked up some Transformers toys I've been wanting. I figured I'd take a break from the CD collecting and get some Transformers goodness. I picked up an Armada Megatron (green tank with a rotating turret) and the Street Action Mini-con team (Grindor, a blue rocket-powered skateboard, High Wire, a light blue dirt bike, and Sureshock, an orange moped). I got the SA mini-con team pretty much just for Sureshock and Grindor, because they looked cool (and they are). I can take or leave High Wire. Since you need him to form the mini-gestalt that the three of them form into, I suppose I'll keep him. ^_^ But, I fucking love Sureshock and Grindor. Grindor looks very interesting in his robot mode, and Sureshock is an orange moped. How can you not love a moped transformer, I ask you!! All I need now is to find a Scooter Go-Bot on eBay...

    Hmmm....

But, yeah, Megatron is actually more interesting to play withy than I would have figured at first (I only really like to get the ones that interest me, I have no desire to get ALL of them). I put off getting him because he didn't look very play-with-able, but I was wrong. He's pretty tight. My only beef is that he has no knees, so his poses are limited. My big gripe with many of the Armada Transformers is that they are not very poseable. Look at Cyclonus and Sideways. For God's Sake, they can't pose for crap!! Waste of money... >_<. Little-Optimus is very, VERY poseable, though. I've got him set in a boxer stance right now, with the Skyboom shield in one hand and the other in a ::shakes fist:: pose. Lol.

But, Megatron is pretty tight. His primary gun flips to his waist, so you can almost see him firing it Rambo-style. It also moves around, so he can fire it at any point on his right side pretty much, or flip it to the left and fire it that way. Guy's a death machine. And, for some reason, having an orange moped on his left arm, a skateboard on his back, a dirt bike on his right leg, and a mini-tank on his right arm looks absolutely not wierd, not wierd at all.

Oh, for a digi-cam... ^_^ (Do I have a USB port on this thing?)

Sureshock, the moped, is really the big reason I wanted those particular minicons, though. He reminds me of Haruko's Vespa. I'm thinking of painting the little P! logo on the front. That'd look awesome. First, though, I'd need paint...

Megatron is pointing his weapons at me... I think he's gonna kill me... ^_^

Ya know what always struck me as being bullshit about the Armada series, and is one of the several reasons I do not like it? Why do these Transformers have entire weapons within their body (a missle launcher, a bazooka, etc.) that they know nothing about, and need a mini-con to unlock? Who the hell would design a robotic war machine that can't use all of it's functions? It would make more sense to me to have the mini-cons simply empower them beyond what they can currently generate.

I know I am really showing my nerdiness here, but when I play with my Armada Transformers, I usually pretend that the mini-cons, rather than unlocking weapons that they previously did not know about, have a direct connection to hyper-space and channel that energy safely directly into their adjoined transformers power cells. In other words, they are like external power generators that allow the transformers they are connected to access to extra energy to enhance their weapon systems, or whatever. Further more, the mini-cons can choose where that energy is directed. They can choose to be used as a weapon, or to enhance a current weapon, or enhance the motion systems of their adjoined transformer, giving enhanced speed, strength, etc. Some can even use their energy towards shielding and defense.

I think these things out too much. This is why I should work on writing an animated TV show or something. I think about logistics and how the process would actually work. Which is why I will probably never work on an American animated series.

    Heh.

    Megatron wants to kill me...

Please don't use your gigantic head-pinchers on me, sir...

    ^_^
