    ..Sorry, I'm in a mood. I wanted to wake-up at 8 so I could sign up for some psychology research projects for class credit, and I overslept until 10, so when I went in, they were all full (I hate this system, they require 20 points worth of out-of-class work, but the technical journals are impossible to comprehend and they don't have enough research projects for everyone), so I'm gonna have to write 4 2-page papers this week, whch means I can't go see my friend Bill perform tomorrow (I feel so bad... I wanted to see his band perform). Then, I wnt in to work all pissed, but that faded into the general melancholy that I've been feeling all day. My usually apathetic self is even worse than ever today. I wouldn't go to the SPC-TV meeting, except I need to get my DVDs and Mangas back from Christi.

    Fuck...

    Why do I sleep in so late? I always hit the snooze alarm for like two hours. What the hell is wrong with me?

    School depresses me. Honestly. I'm beginning to think that I'm not cut out to be any kind of film-maker. I just... I want to work in animation, but drawing frustrates me soooo much. It never comes out the way I want it too. Ugh.

    I think that tonight I'll try to bust out one of those papers, then during my between-class break tomorrow, do some of the drawings for my project. I also need to get some kind of voice recordings for it...

    Fuck.

    I'd say I can't do this, but I have to, so fuck it.

    ...Damn military... I have drill this weekend, and they said I can't skip it and make it up later. My parents wonder why I don't want to stay in for the full 20 years... damn thing's an annoyance. 
  • 2003-04-28 00:08:41 Ok, tentative plan.

    To try to avoid spending too much on DVDs and CDs this summer (since it's coming close to crunch time for Otakon), I am making a plan for which DVDs I want to buy. CDs, I have a very loose plan, but this is what I want to get DVD wise over summer, and no more until after Otakon, for which I have a big plan.

    Now, from now until Otakon, my plan is thus. I want to get NieA_7 volumjes 3 and 4 and fnish that series. And I want to get FLCL Vol. 3 when it comes out in July. That's it. My plan is to try to use some willpower for once and keep the anime purchases to those three. And after Otakon, I wanna get the El Hazard OVA boxset ($90), because, through AMVs and word of mouth, I am damn interested in seing that OVA.

    I may allow myself to get Noir vol. 2, but we'll see. MAYBE Spring and Chaos...

    See, this is why I need to practice self-control... SOOO many series/movies/OVAs I want...

    CDs, I have a whole list of stuff I want and I need to narrow it down to a few to limit myself too until after Otakon. Tentatively, my CD list for summer is thus.

    Apocalyptica- Cult

    John Hermanson- Self Titled

    I'm gonna narrow this down, obviously. The point in limiting myself is to save money, and it defeats that purpose to have a huge frikken list. The Lain and Hellsing OSTs I may be getting through my local store, hopefully they get in before I finish finals week, because I don't wanna import them myself if I don't have to. $14.99 is much more attractive than $22 plus international shipping.

    Ok, I'm done. 
  • 2003-04-26 20:09:12 Ok. I now have all three of the Miyazaki films released domestically last week (Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky). Despite my previous money rants, these films are worth the mental strife.

    Now, I wish to impart my knowledge to those who may follow me. So, if you have not yet purchased any7 of them, or if you only got one, heed my words.

    First, shop around. I got mine for $18.86 at a local Wal-Mart, saved a buck or so compared to Best Buy's $19.99. All three films should be the same price. Now, do this. Buy just one, NOT all three at the same time. You'll be screwing yourself over if you do that. Buy one, go home, and open it. There's a coupon inside each one for $2 off of either CitS, KDS, SA, or Princess Mononoke (if you do not have Mononoke, get it last, because I don't know if it has this coupon). After opening it, go back and get one of the others with the coupon. The use the coupon from that one to get the final film. If you don't yet have Princess Mononoke, use the coupon from the third one to get a discount off of it (turning it down from $22.99 to $20.99. Mononoke is more expensive because it's been out longer and is beyond the first month. Most DVDs are cheaper in the first month, for some reason. I got Hellsing 1 for $19.99 at Best Buy when it first came out, now it's $22.99.)

    So, yeah. Get them one at a time and you can use the coupon to save money.
