JOURNAL: kyburg (Donna Hutt Stapfer Bell)

  • Monday, Monday -- 2002-02-25 19:17:23 EK - don't forget the other 99. What -- really -- is the point of competition? Does it spur creativity? Does it reward hard work?

I haven't seen a single instance where it has done either - or improved the end result.

Being able to compete is neat. Having the option not to is better still. I think you're on to something.

I've never chosen a video on how many awards it has won. What I am interested in doesn't lie in a vote - I want good music, good content and plenty of heart.

Everyone who sits down to try this works hard. Talent is truly a subjective call - and opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and sooner or later, they all stink.

So what's the point? Only one in a hundred gets recognized - since the odds are we will all be one of "the other 99" - what's wrong with that? Do you really get so bent when you don't win the lotto? What a waste of your energies!

My boss is talking about killing users again...gotta go.

  • Chuck Jones 2002-02-23 10:55:53 Miss him already.
  • *^_^* 2002-02-22 22:25:00 Jim came and got me from work, took me to Marukai for dinner and shopping and hugged me and hugged me and hugged me. I ain't complaining.

Sitting there eating dinner, we heard the Perry Como Mambo come on, and you should have seen the look, EK.

We sure hope you're feeling better -- and you don't have a strep throat.

Fry's opens a new store in City of Industry this weekend - and we're going to go check it out. Yeah, baby!
  • /If you would believe/you too might be/overjoyed/over love/over me/ 2002-02-22 13:09:55 It's still true. It's impossible to stay funked listening to Stevie Wonder.

Left work last night after 7:00 PM (that's after being here since 8:30AM), had to listen to two hours of fan belt screech (it's getting fixed tomorrow) going home...no lunch, no dinner, no food of any kind until 9:00 PM...

Yesterday sucked. Then couldn't sleep --

So today is Friday, pay day and I'm ready to bite anything that gets too close. (Must have been a griffin in a past life or something...I have a foul temper when angered and take everything off at the knees in striking distance.)

How long was the drive in this morning? I was able to go through the entire Bebop "Blue" Album (yeah, even the Andy songs), the entire Olive album and parts of the Stevie Wonder "In Square Circle" album...then got totally disgusted and turned the thing off.

    Total distance - 45 miles.

Oh, sorry. Parts of the "Blue" album more than once.

    I need a vacation.

Why one shouldn't Fark first thing after checking EK's posts --

Right Now, someone is getting the wrong idea....
