JOURNAL: Super Sapien (J W)

  • Recovering... Slowly. And by slowly, I mean quickly. 2002-05-21 22:17:51 Getting everything back really quickly. By the time I graduate, I should have everything back and be working on the S Project again... Oh sweet, it feels so good to say that. The only thing is, if the hard drive is actually damaged (hard disk controller went bad), it could mess up at any time. I guess I'll just have to backup the system every night. Gotta do what I gotta do.

For those interested in the progress:

    Winamp playlist today: http://liquid2k.com/supersapien/backup/playlist5-21-02.tmp

See a difference? I see a big'n. I should be up to 950 or so by the end of tomorrow.
  • Who's your daddy? 2002-05-19 22:06:43 Yeah! I got both the hard drives working (the 30 gig with my captures was completely in tact, despite what DOS told me). I did, of course, lose all the information on the main drive so I do have to download a shitload of programs, songs, and AMVs. At least I have the drives working, which is good enough for me.

    And the peasants rejoice.
  • Someone kill me, now! 2002-05-17 15:45:00 I think I realized what it feels like to be on my old 4 gig hard drive. It's like when you go on vacation and only take a few things with you, and leave the rest behind at the house. Which is what this feels like, since I have a few things with me from my 110 gigs of space, but it's a whole different and alien environment... But in this vacation, you come to find out that your house burnt down in a fire while you were gone. So you lose all your GOOD stuff and are left with the shitty stuff you brought with you. That's how I feel about my new setup. I think I'm in denial about losing all my mp3s, but I'm recovering. Finding out that my HD's are unsalvagable today didn't really help, but I've written down about 20% of the artists that I used to have. I can't remember any more than 100 artists right now, and I really hope I remember the rest.

What REALLY sucks is that I don't have ANY hard drives except this full 4 gig, so I can't even begin to start re-downloading those songs, or restart my video, work on the S Project, can't even download other people's AMVs. I had spent the last of my money on the 80 gig after I quit, so now I don't have a job and can't buy another. I may be on this shitty drive for a veeeeerry loooooong time.

I guess I better just get a job. I DO have to start saving up for AWA, after all.
  • Star Wars Episode II 2002-05-16 17:27:22 You've all probably read your fair share of Star Wars Episode II reviews by other people on amv.org journals, so I will leave you with this.

    Two words: Yoda. Lightsaber.

    That is all.
  • "Murphy's Law: Everything That Can Go Wrong, Will Go Wrong." Live by that rule, children. 2002-05-15 18:22:40 BOTH of my nice huge hard drives got toasted by lightning while unplugged from the wall. Someone explain that one to me.

Anyway, the S Project is dead, my 1200 mp3's are dead, all the amvs I had are dead, all the ROMs I had, Adobe Premeire, all my captures... Everything. I'm on my shibby 4 gig hard drive (which is virus-ridden by the way) and down to 300 mp3's. And I only have 300 megabytes of space left. Oh well. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong. I forgot about that basic rule for a couple days and look what happened.
