JOURNAL: Super Sapien (J W)

  • 2003-08-21 15:26:55 Jesus Christ, almost 100,000 members!? I remember back when I signed up, there was like 10 or 15,000 and less than a year ago it was 50,000. I didn't even know there were 100k people who LIKED amvs. And 22,000 videos!? Good god!

Well this is pretty awesome in a way, but I sort of miss simpler times. Either way, good work, Phade, the site has grown more than I would have expected...
  • Everyone in blue. 2003-07-29 00:12:57 Things have been interesting lately.

I finally paid off my debt from the Katsucon Incident. My car is permanently broken down and I have donated it to my father, because my parents are getting divorced and I'm moving out early September into a new house, and leaving for Marine Corp boot camp a month later. When I get back I'm putting $2000 of USMC salary towards a new computer, $1000 towards various items that I would never get around to picking up otherwise, and the rest towards a brand new car, and from that point on, I pick up my life and carry onward.

Also of note is the fact that Ere Cell is shutting down. The "faculty" of ECS has been slimmed down by nearly half and we see no need to pay for a server when we don't know what we want to do with the concept now, especially since I'll be gone for 6 months and wouldn't be able to contribute anyway, although we had planned on just getting another server, changing our name, and starting from scratch with an all-purpose site of sorts that no longer hinges on the AMV community. Everything's on hold until I come back in May. One comforting fact: Parris Island is very far from Crystal City, Virginia.

It doesn't look like the video I completed will be released until I come back and pay for server space again, so to my great sadness I will not release one last video before I leave and my life changes drastically. I prefer to look at each of my videos as a representation of the state of my life at the time of its creation, and the fact that the video was not released when it was finished annoys me. But oh well, by the time I come back, trivial things like that won't matter much anyway.

Adios for now. Probably won't update again for a while.
  • Back with a vengeance, baby. 2003-06-26 02:52:11 Because I am a moron, I have spent very important sleeping time on a new video. Yes, that's right. It is complete, I just need some second opinions from a few people before I release a final. Speaking of this, I would like to thank confusedchicken for his review of a video of mine that is a year old. It's been a long time since I got an opinion on my videos here, which is predictable considering I haven't MADE one in almost a year. Anyhoo, you give you official permission to consider this my "return" if you want to. In fact, I demand it. DEMAND IT.

I have another that has been in the works for what seems like forever, so I may actually have another on the way. It's only about halfway done though, so let's assume it will take me as long to do the second half as it did the first, in which case, it will be done some time next year. Keep an eye out.

I'm attempting to make it to Otakon. I have absolutely no rooming plans. If anyone's desperate for rooming companions to split the cost of a hotel for August 8 - 10th in Baltimore, email me at erecellsapien@hotmail.com. I will have one person with me, if I'm really lucky I'll have two.

Anyway, I'm off. It's 5 AM, I have to work tomorrow, I have crap to do, and I need some sleep. I think I'm going to be online a bit more than I have been, and a bit more active with my AMV's. I'm still not posting on the amv.org forums though. You can't make me!
  • 2003-06-07 11:46:05 I haven't had much time to work on AMV's lately with work and life, and the next year or so isn't looking good either, as I may be working two full time jobs, 80 hours a week, on top of finding time for my girlfriend of 6 months. I'm trying to get out of debt and start a nice savings for the future. I finally got a car but it's a real POS, for example, it's sitting in front of my house, broken and undriveable right now. Nothing ever works right. I also hope to get rid of the black cloud that follows me around everywhere I go.
  • Update 2003-03-14 14:43:19 So I decided not to put up Katsucon stuff. Because, I mean it was fun, the con itself. But it ended up being traumatic and I'd rather forget it. Having my car be stolen, being stuck in VA for 5 days, getting laid off, being thrusted into debt due to hotel costs, being sick for 2 weeks afterward, and then contracting mono and almost dying due to dehydration and a 6 day fever of 103 and heart rate of 120 bpm was just a wee bit rough. So let's pretend it never happened and that my life hasn't been brought to a grinding hault.

So I threw together a mini-AMV of an alternate GTO opening but it required minimal editing, so I don't know if I should put it up for download or not. I figure most people would be pissed that I wasted their time, but I guess a few would appreciate the old-skoolness of it and the irony. Either way I'd want to wait until I got a DVD rip of the opening, because currently there's subtitles and song lyrics all over the video.

I was working on a collaborative video with Chris and Eiji in my studio but it didn't work out. I like what I have so far so I'm going to just do it all myself. I love the song and I love the anime, I would hate to see the hard work I've put into it so far be wasted.

Besides all the shit in that first paragraph (which we're supposed to be forgetting right now, may I remind you), not much has happened. Besides that crap, my girlfriend has been the support I needed through all of this and I have a lot to thank her for. I wouldn't have made it through without her.

And that's about it. I'll try to update this baby once a month. I don't think that should be too hard, considering I uesd to update every day. Still, for those interested, I've pretty much moved to livejournal. http://www.livejournal.com/users/supersapien
