the "hardest effect" in my most recent video would have to be the butterflies, in which i masked out the butterfly, panned it, created a shadow, and then timed them to the sound when you see them...

the rest was simple piano keys (using Vegas's Gradiant Media Generator),

pan and crop (to change the size of the frames)

and theres an "effect" called border that i used to border the panned video...

and youre right the rest of it was overlays...

so basically you will need to get a program other than windows movie maker to do anything near what i did in my video, cause as far as i know Wmm wont even do an overlay it will only do a crossfade.
