  • Cornwiggle 2006-06-16 20:06:07 n00bs are always impressed with what they cant do... so they tend to be more generous than seasoned editorers... seasoned editorers often think "what would i have done" instead of just enjoying a creation for what it is...

    thats why n00bs will give higher star ratings... n00bs also tend to gravitate towards WMVs cause they dont need special "magic" codecs to play the videos (and a good number of them use wmp... so they will sometimes avoid AVIs because you need to install codecs to uncompress them.

    I'm usually not biased towards file types cept I can usually tell just by looking at an entry what is going to be "good" in my opinion and what is not going to be good... though sometimes i do find myself suprised..

    i like to use AVI because have found that i can make cleaner files and sometimes smaller ones with AVI than i can with WMV...

    wmm has a poor wmv compression. especially when it compares to Vegas's wmv compression, infact most of my vids up till simple things were all wmv, till i decided to convert them to all to avi.

    i could go into the steryotype WMM users have created for WMM, but you have already skipped through all that in PM... so theres really no point in rehashing the past. it has a bad rep deal.

    you can if you want, one of my friends has already done it... wmvs tend to get higher star ratings but avis will get more forum feedback...

    but heres the question or what you want to ask yourself: do you want the attention of the n00bs? or the attention of seasoned editorers?

    but if you do avi you should also be prepared for "i cant see the vid" comments O.o
