I was going to just pm this to her but I thought I'd share with the rest of the class as well:

This is one of the reasons I have a hard time with (some) classes. Most of the time they are not about being creative, or thinking for yourself, but bending over and taking it from a teacher, or doing the assignments how their limited minds think you should do it..

On that note I took a pottery class once, and on two of my projects I completely ignored her instructions... well not completely.
1. Human Form... She told us to make a human figure. Mine was half melted (anyone who knows my fandom history could probably tell you why, who and possibly how). While she loved the figure she had to give me a lower grade because it wasn't the project outline, but I got at least 1/2 credit since I did have half a human figure O:
2. Research an architectural style and build a house based on that research - hehe well I built the house, but it was "Katie made up style" O: So when I went to do the oral report . completely made up my facts XD "Cloud roof" - "The walls are made out of clay" ect. Once again she liked the house, but she said that it wasn't the assignment and couldn't give me a good grade because I didn't follow the assignment...
I also finished quite a few of my projects a head of time and got to work on my own stuff in class which was awesome XD
But then there was stuff such as in the case of the "jar" that we had to make, I went beyond and made it into something too. I made a handle that looked like a vine, the jar itself looked like a tree stump, and I built a fairy on the top of it - I even teased that it could be counted as my human figure XD. - she ended up showing it at an art gallery showing thing and I got a very good grade on it.
Anyways the class was an interesting experience, and I even got an award for it at the end of the year, but not all of my projects were "within the guidelines" and I understood that, so the "lower grade" didn't bother me.
I suppose if you're are really hardcore about getting the "awsum grades" then you will bend over and take it and write how the teacher tells you to write. BUT! If you want to write creatively in your own way, you will also have to understand that the teacher will give you a lower grade.
That pottery teacher I had liked that I had the creativity, and even applauded me for it, (more so on senior slave day than any other day- but that was for other reasons and a whole other story... PM me if you want to know), but at the same time she couldn't give me a higher grade because I wouldn't follow the outline..
In the case of your teacher though, she didn't give you much of an outline, and it seems pretty lame that she couldn't tell a stylistic piece. - Rina: 2007-08-30 07:51:05 i doubt it.
