I hope the DVDs aren't this washed out :(
I realize that these screecaps (that I made) are from their streaming version of the second episode, but it SHOULD be a hint of what to expect in the DVD release...
The dub (after watching the full first and second episodes on Funimation's site) was bad enough, I hope the footage isn't too tore up either O.o
For the most part the only voice I approved of was Haruhi's, the rest of the voices either sounded way to girley or just plain sucked.
Don't get me wrong: I loved Luci as Ahiru, but in this she sounds so girley/bratty that it kinda kills Hunny..
Vic makes Tamaki out to be like a woman - which he's not - I really liked the dramatic resonance of the Japanese actor, and Vic really failed at keeping Tamaki dramatic like that..
Greg should stick to doing kids (as wrong as that sounds) - he fails at playing a teenager... I didn't like him much in Chrono either.. but at the same time, the last character I heard him do well was Manen in Pretear and he did decent there, however Manen is a dun dun dun... kid.
The rest of the characters were okay, but I really don't know what to make of it much other than the same complaints I've spewed before.
The opening was horrid, and off key. If they were going to dub the openings the least they could do is get an English version from the original artist, or find someone who doesn't go flat at the end of her phrases. It might be only a little flat but its still enough to be like nails on a chalkboard for me. She also doesn't have the power behind her voice that the original artist did :/
The closing is just as "meh" as the opening. I know they "spent money" on this because they expect it to sell well, but seriously they should have just saved the money and just left the opening/closing alone :/

I'm all sonic 2'd out for a while @_@ blah but it was fun watching Scob fail on Tales :3 it's a lot easier to play though if I'm not worrying about someone else having to catch up with me, but it was still fun playing together...

I've recently acquired Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 and Sleeping Beauty...

Sleeping Beauty had a preview for The Princess and the Frog on it, which was cool to see how it's going to look... it looks like its going to be funny and pretty :3
and Fantasia was interesting to see how they "cut" the Centaur piece... especially because the DVD claims to be "uncut" (as it says on the front of the cover)- they just didn't claim to be "uncropped" or "unpainted over" ... just due to the massive quality loss from zooming in you could see which scenes were cropped, and the quality improvement, you could see where they "reanimated" one clip lol...
It's not a new DVD (2001) so I'm sure that this is "old news" but it's "new" to me since I haven't seen the original in such a long time... I bought it knowing full well that it was going to be altered, so I'm not mad..
Night on Bald Mountain and The Nutcracker Suite are my favorite parts of the original anyways, and I actually like parts of Fantasia 2000 a lot more than the original.. The original while innovative for it's time got kinda long at parts and pretty boring (especially the Dinosaur one) O.o I really wish that Disney would make another Fantasia, it would be good times for me :3
My favorites in 2000 were Pomp and Circumstance (Noah's Ark), Carnival of the Animals (Flamingos with a Yo-Yo), Rhapsody in Blue (The one with several NYC stories) and The Firebird Suite (The nature/spring sprite and the firebird volcano)
Pinocchio is going to be the next release from the "vault" and I might just jump at getting that one :3 I don't have it yet...
I'm really hoping for a Beauty and the Beast release soon... Now that I have Sleeping Beauty it's the next in my line up of Disney DVDs to buy, however not a huge fan of the "added song"... eh but I guess I can live with it.
