  • Nothing really today... 2004-07-09 21:38:26 Not much today. Emily has just paid off her second-to-last house loan, and should have the full upgrade at midnight tonight. I just wanted to post turnip prices today.

    HRA Scores:
Both same as last time. (I'm not posting Emily's HRA scores.)
  • Three characters now... 2004-07-08 19:54:58 I think I mentioned it before, but I now have a third character, Emily, in Costello. Emily is using the exotic series for her house. Her HRA score is pathetic--just above 5000 points. But as soon as I get the 398,000 bell upgrade paid off, I can get a second floor, and add sets to it to up my score.

I got Aurora the penguin and Gonzo the koala in Costello. I'm going to try to keep both of them, so I'm not doing any traveling--either to or from Costello--anytime soon. And Yuka moved back to Portland, although she doesn't remember Jayn, but I don't think Jayn met her the first time anyway since Yuka used to be in Costello, then moved out completely after like a day or two. I like Yuka, even though she's one of the snobby females, because she's a very pretty shade of dark blue.

I'm really starting to like Pecan the squirrel. She's also a snob, but she's grown on me. I think it was because she was watching a bug one day and she looked so adorable. I always love it when an animal watches and/or chases a bug.

I've been playing as Emily for all of three days, and I've already caught about 30 of the 40 fish, and I know I can catch two more. I've also caught a whole lot of bugs.

Emily has the Golden Axe. I did NOT use a code; however, I did make my town "perfect" again (according to the well--it took about twenty minutes) and did the "Golden Axe the cheap and easy way," trick from the Perfect Town guide I used, which I cannot remember the address of. Anyway, I think the time-traveling screwed up my turnip prices, but only for Costello.

I forgot to bring my notebook with me and don't feel like going to get it, so I'll post turnip prices and HRA scores tomorrow.
  • Fireworks Festival! (The one with an actual entry) 2004-07-05 17:58:05 Dammit, I hit "enter" in the subject line and it messed it up.

Anyway, yesterday was the Fireworks Festival! It was so cool. In Costello, Jeremiah and Weber were singing and dancing (sooooo adorable!!! ^_^;) and Redd was selling pinwheels. I bought all of them and I'm still carrying one around. I like the "whirr whirr whirr" sound it makes. I searched for Tortimer, found him, and got a bottle rocket from him. It has no feng shui so I just sent it off to the museum so I can save it in the post office in the letter that comes back.

In Portland, Buck the horse and Petunia the cow were dancing. Petunia even seemed less bitchy than usual. Sydney (I always call her Syd) was fanning herself, and Redd was selling ridiculously overpriced balloons, of which I bought all. Found Tortimer, got bottle rocket, sent it to museum.

Jayn bought a whole bunch more blue tables to up her yellow feng shui, and now I'm getting 10,000 bell bags from the glowy spot about five, six days a week. I've gotten a few 30,000 bell bags but not enough to calculate how many I get in a given period of time. Adding the tables also upped my HRA score considerably. I'm so close to breaking 200,000!

I decided to create a new character in Costello. I wanted the girl with slanted purply-black eyes and purple hair, and got her (I used an Eyes FAQ which can be found on Gamefaqs.com then search for Animal Crossing). Her name is Emily. (I named her after the title character in L.M. Montgomery's book Emily of New Moon, since that Emily also has purply-black eyes, but ... not purple hair). I jump-started Emily's house by switching back to Audrey and ordering all of my exotic furniture, carpet and wallpaper. It won't all fit yet though. However, that's the only help Emily's going to get from either of my other characters. Everything else she's getting on her own.

Again, I can't remember when the hell the last time I posted turnip prices was, but I think it was the first, so I'll start on the second. Also, Sunday's asking prices were 79 BPT for Costello and 112 BPT for Portland, but I didn't feel like buying any this week.

  • Puck moved out! Nooooo! 2004-07-02 19:10:13 Yesterday, when I was traveling back and forth from Costello to Portland and selling turnips, Puck moved to Portland (along with a bunch of other animals from Costello, since I made about seven trips each way). I didn't think much of it until the final trip. I can't remember who the final Costellian to move to Portland was, but he/she pushed Puck out of Portland! So now I don't have Puckies anymore. Come back, my sweet, cute, fat little Puckies!

Now I have about seven or eight animals living in Costello. Jayn had to take something to Curly in Costello, so Lulu the hippo moved into Costello from Portland.

I think the next time I have to travel to sell turnips I'm going to do it like this: Take a few turnips to the other town and sell them. Return to home town. Save and quit. Switch memory cards. Load up "other" town and travel from it to get one character back to original town. Lather, rinse, repeat. This way, I'll lose a minimum of characters.

I wrote a letter to Jeremiah the stoned blue froggy in Costello the other day and got this response. This has got to be the BEST AC letter EVER. If my character was male, it would be a little disturbing, but since Audrey's female, it's funny:

    "Audrey,
    Thanks for always writing
    such wonderful letters.
    The clothes you had on
    yesterday were too tight.
    And satisfying!
    So, um... yeah... bye.
    Your buddy, Jeremiah"

Jayn finally completed the Blue series yesterday by trading for a blue table, which shot my HRA score WAY up. I've since taken all the gyroids out of my house (to make room to walk) and have added several more blue tables to the west side of my room for the yellow feng shui.

I was playing last night in Portland and saw my first arapaima! The thing is HUGE. Its shadow is at least 50% larger than the coelacanth's. I thought the arapaima was only available in the lake, but I found it near the waterfall. I caught it, too! It's in the museum now.
