  • Sports Fair! 2004-09-23 19:12:04 Today was the Fall Sports Fair. I overslept and didn't see the aerobics or the footrace, but I've already seen aerobics EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY of August anyway, so it wasn't any skin off my back to miss them. And I'm pretty sure the footrace was just the animals running circles around the well. That's how it is in my head, anyway. But I did see the ball toss and the tug-o'-war. The ball toss was very adorable. It was kind of like basketball, except there were many little balls instead of one large ball. The animals took turns trying to toss the balls into a basket mounted high onto a pole. They would shoot three at a time, then it would be another animal's turn. I was rooting for Jeremiah.

Gracie also came to Costello today. I got a lavender robe. I do have another character in Costello for map-checking and storage, but I tried like five times with him and couldn't get anything new, and by that time my hand was starting to hurt from doing the "pen trick" too much, and my brain was starting to hurt because of stupid Resetti.

It's been raining a lot in both my towns. I love rain for two reasons: coelacanth, and Gyroids.

I wrote letters to all of my villagers in both my towns, except the ones I hated.

  • Movin' animals... 2004-09-16 20:25:11 I haven't been writing letters to the villagers at all for a long, long time. Apparently, at least ten days, as Chevre (how DO you pronounce that?) moved out of Costello, and Biskit moved out of Oregon yesterday, and I haven't traveled for a long time anyway. So I have to write letters to everyone today or tomorrow.

The grass and trees changed colors today. Now they're sort of a browny-green. Actually rather ugly, sort of a baby-puke green. I can't wait till they change to orange or brown or whatever color they're ultimately going to become for the fall.

  • Lots of stuff... 2004-09-10 20:06:40 Okay, first off, Redd came to Oregon for the first time on ... was it last Tuesday? Yeah, I think that's right. Or no, wait, maybe it was Saturday. Anyway, he had Pinball, a Luigi trophy, and a ranch armchair. I bought all not realizing that the ranch armchair could be bought at Nook's. But now I have Pinball! Yay!

Jeremy bought turnips this week for the first time, too. And it's a good thing I did, as the price spiked at 1008 BPT this week! Woo hoo! Jeremy now has over 5 million bells in the bank, so now I'll be buying turnips for him every week.

Audrey's current bank balance is just over 39 million bells. Joy. Only ... uh ... several more effing YEARS until I can get the post model...

  • I got the Golden Net! 2004-09-01 21:18:17 Hoorayyy!!! I finally got it, last night. The last insect I caught was a pine cricket. So then I saved and quit and started up again, and there was Tortimer, with the G. Net for me. Hopefully I won't lose it somehow.

The first villager I talked to after getting the G. Net was Static, and he said "WAY TO GO!!!" in that huge red font and loud "voice" the animals use when their emotions get the better of them. It freaked me out because I had the volume on the TV up pretty high. So now I have the butterfly emblem on my house, too.

Now, just three more fish, and I can get the Golden Rod. But I won't be able to get it until like January or February.

Jeremy broke a million bells today in the post office and got the tissue, which I had saved from Portland, so now Jeremy has two tissues in his house.

Turnip prices spiked today in Oregon. I'm not sure if Costello's price will spike this week, so I decided to sell enough turnips in Oregon to get what I spent back and then some, so I was guaranteed a profit. Something odd happened when I traveled, though. I use travel data, and I have a map-checker character, who name is simply [musical note]. Anyway, this is what happened:

First time Audrey traveled: Checked the map with [musical note]. Aurora had moved. Brought Audrey back to Costello to prevent Aurora moving.

Second time Audrey traveled: Checked the map with [note]. I didn't think anyone had moved but it turned out to be Purrl. Audrey went to Oregon, sold turnips, came back to Costello.

I then saved, quit, and switched memory cards so Jeremy could travel to Costello and bring someone back with him to "trade." Jeremiah moved back to Costello. I saved and quit and switched memory cards again.

Now, this is where things get weird:

Third time Audrey traveled: [Note] checked the map, Aurora was on the train, so I brought Audrey back, and then immediately got back on the train. This time, [note] DIDN'T check the map to see who'd moved (because, really, what are the chances of Aurora moving twice in a row?). Audrey traveled to Oregon, sold turnips, came back. Nobody had moved. I even checked the post office to see if there were any new letters (indicating someone had moved) and there was only Purrl's.

The fourth and fifth times Audrey traveled, that exact same thing happened. Aurora would be on the train, Audrey would return to Costello to bring her back, then get back on the train immediately, did NOT check the map with [note], Audrey'd go sell turnips in Oregon, come back and nobody had moved. That's just weird.

  • Golden Net (no, I don't have it *yet*...) 2004-08-30 18:51:12 After checking an insect FAQ for September, I just realized something exciting: I can get the Golden Net this month! For Audrey, anyway. I have five more bugs to catch (Bell Cricket, Cricket, Migratory Locust, Pine Cricket, and Red Dragonfly) and all those bugs are available during September. I've been playing since the very end of March, so that's only--what, six months? *counts on fingers* Yeah, six months. I thought I'd have to play for a year to get the golden net.

Jeremy has to wait till effing June 2005 so he can catch a firefly ...

I'm close to getting the golden rod, too--only three more fish to catch. Unfortunately, the only "new" fish in September that I hadn't caught already was the salmon. It looks cool, though.
