  • A-camping we will go! 2004-06-06 03:30:11 No, not _me_, you idiots. Summer campers!

I got Roald in Costello and Filbert in Portland. I managed to get a cooler out of Roald and a sleeping bag out of Filbert, and I'll go back tomorrow (or later tonight) to get more stuff. I also got a bunch of mediocre furniture out of the both of them.

It turns out that I have caught all the June fish, except that Jayn still needs a giant snakehead.

Katrina came to Costello tonight, but I haven't gotten a fortune from her yet. I decided to wait until tomorrow.

I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to buy turnips tomorrow. Neither of my towns spiked this week, so one or both _might_ spike next week. I think I'll just buy turnips in one town this week.

  • Fish & Bugs 2004-06-05 03:27:26 I played a bit last night after I got offline, and caught about three giant catfish, one arowana (ooh, pretty!), and something else, I forget. ...Oh, an angelfish. I was playing as Jayn and she didn't have an angelfish yet, so I put all those into the museum. I'm thinking about trying to catch an arowana just to keep it as a pet. Or an angelfish. I'd name it Satan. Yes, I do think I'm clever.

Between both my characters, I think I've caught pretty much all the come-out-in-June fish. Now I have to find the rest of the June bugs. I haven't even seen, much less caught, a purple butterfly yet. Knowing my luck, it's probably out from like 8-9 am or something when I'm still asleep. Bah. Actually, the only June bugs I've caught (for both my characters) are the flat stag beetle (and will someone please tell me what the hell a "flat stag party" is?), water-something-or-other (they skim across the lake), and firefly. Many, many, many, many fireflies. I'm actually getting kind of sick of the fireflies. They really should have called this game "The Attack of the Evil Fireflies That Won't Go Away!" (I'm bored. Lay off.)

Liz lost her handkerchief today in Costello. She said she'd probably lent it to Bunnie. Why in God's name do animals borrow each others' handkerchiefs anyway? Get your own goddamn handkerchief, Bunnie. Anyway, Cute Evil Rabbit did not have it--she motioned me to Jeremiah's pad. Running to Jeremiah's I knocked on his door and was invited in.
"Hey," I said, "Lizzie needs her handkerchief."
"Oh, crap," said Jeremiah. "Puck has it."
"Good lord. Can you NOT understand that handkerchief-borrowing is very, very icky?"
"Shut up and go see Puck."
So I went and did the runaround to Puckie's house. "Hey, you cute little penguin," I said. "I have to pick up Liz's handkerchief." (You know, I never realized until now how monotonous the word 'handkerchief' is to type.)
Barely looking up from his dinner, Puck replied with a full mouth, "Oh, yeah. I forgot it wasn't mine. It's at Pecan's house."
Great. Now I had to go see one of the resident Bitches ... uh, Two. No, three. Wait, how many bitchy girls do I have in Costello? Uh, Pecan, Mint, Cashmere ... yeah, three. Lemme start that one over...
Great. Now I had to go see one of the resident Bitches Three. "What do YOU want, you sorry excuse for a human?" snarled Pecan when it was clear that I'd interrupted something very important, like her fish-watching time.
"I need a stupid handkerchief," I said, not bothering her with details.
"Oh," she said. "You mean this one?" She held up a surprisingly clean-looking piece of cloth. I'd expected it to be full of frog, penguin, rabbit and squirrel snot, but it wasn't.
"Yeah," I said. "Uh, thanks, or ... whatever."
So I ran back to Liz's house and delivered the handkerchief to its rightful owner, and I got a lovely armoire. The end.

  • Nothing today... 2004-06-04 04:13:52 I didn't play hardly at all today, because I needed the electrical outlet for my VCR to record something. See, the outlet that my GCN is plugged into, only the bottom outlet works, so only one thing can be plugged in at a time (I don't have one of those "extra outlet" dealies). And my VCR does this thing where if it doesn't "warm up," so to speak, for about 12-24 hours, it won't record--it will START recording, but then turn off. So I had to leave the VCR plugged in, set on timer record, until 8 pm, when it started recording, and I didn't get to play until about 10 pm, when the show I was recording was over. Yes, Nook's store does close at ten. Yes, I had to do a little time-traveling in order to find out turnip prices. But I don't really consider it cheating as it was only to about 9:50 or so (I mean, I only need about two minutes max in Nook's store anyway, to sell all the crap in my inventory, check turnip prices, and check the upstairs furniture and clothing and buy anything not in my catalog), and it's not my fault that my VCR is a piece of crap. (I really need a TiVO.)

On another note, it thunderstormed in Portland today! Hooray! It was really cool-looking, especially when Jayn was inside her house with all the lights off. Flash! Rumble! Boom! Pretty cool/creepy (take your pick). So tomorrow morning in Portland there'll be a rainbow over one (or possibly both; Portland is a three-level town) of the waterfalls.

Oh, and I messed up on ...was it Tuesday's? Yeah, Tuesday's turnip prices. Costello's should have been 67 BPT and Portland's was 77 BPT.

    HRA Scores
    Both same as last time.
  • Clu Clu Land 2004-06-03 05:02:06 Crazy Redd came to Costello today* (jesus tap-dancing christ, he's sure coming to my towns a lot). I got a flowery painting and Clu Clu Land from him. Granted, CCL can be acquired by other means than Redd, but I really wanted it. I didn't really understand how to play it but I posted a message on Gamefaqs and now I get what to do. Hooray!

I said I got Donkey Kong in Nook's lotto, right? I think I did. Anyway, I love DK. Love it. When my N64 was hooked up, I used to play DK64 and go to the "secrets" menu and just play the original DK. So I was very, very happy when I got it from the lottery. But here's the kicker. IT'S MISSING THE BEST LEVEL. You know the one, with the pies and conveyor belts? Not there. What. The. Fuck. God dammit, Nintendo, if you're going to extract a level from Donkey Kong, you could take out the one everyone hates, with the elevators and bouncy-spring things and the two flames. I hate that level. But for some odd reason it seems easier to me than the DK64 version. I dunno, maybe because I played the DK64 version many, many times. God dammit. Now I'm just pissed.

*"Today" meaning June 2. It's late. Sue me.

  • Fish, bugs and Saharah. 2004-06-02 04:23:29 I fished a lot today. I caught a LOT of eels, and finally got a pirhana! Yay! I put him (her? it) into the museum. When my character (I forget who caught it, Audrey or Jayn) puts her face to the tank where the pirhana is, it tries to tear her eyes out. So cute.

Saharah came to Portland today. I got five carpets from her--ancient tile, daisy meadow, tropical floor, music room floor and ... um, I think classroom flooring.

Ellie the elephant moved into Portland. I like her. She's one of the "sweet" ones. I sent her a letter with a shirt, but she never put on the shirt. Oh well. I think I have fourteen animals in Portland, so one more can move in.
