JOURNAL: MysticalChicken

  • Lots of stuff. 2004-07-01 17:33:27 Ah, I haven't updated in ... what, four days? Oh well.

On Monday, it must have been Everybody Forgets Everything Day in Costello. Everyone I asked for a job had something that another animal had forgotten at their house.

I've decided to start writing letters every day--as many letters as there are shirts in the dump, also if I get a shirt that I already have as a reward for a job.

I caught some new bugs today. In Costello I caught a large brown cicada, a robust cicada ("Is someone's cell phone going off?" I thought when I heard that one) and a walker cicada (it sounds like a bird chirping), along with a drone beetle, and a banded dragonfly. I caught the third or fourth B.D. that I saw, purely by luck--it happened to be flying right to me. I saw another bug, kind of bluish, on a tree, but it flew away before I could get it. Last night at about 3 am I caught a saw stag beetle. I like how it and the flat stag beetle are on the same tree when you put them in the museum and they're fighting each other.

I've been looking for Arapaima (giant fish) in the river and lakes but I haven't found any yet--just giant catfish and giant snakeheads.

Nook's turnip prices FINALLY spiked today in Portland, at 824 BPT. I sold, obviously. I haven't sold Costello's turnips yet but I'm planning to as soon as I get offline. I don't care about anyone in Portland so I don't care who moves out when I travel back and forth. I just wish I had an extra memory card for travel data so that I didn't have to deal with Rover or Blanca on the train.

Something weird happened the other day. I had recently sent Puck the penguin a letter with a shirt attached. One of my other villagers, when I asked him or her for work, said "Will you deliver these clothes to Puck?" I hesitated for a moment before saying "Fine." I searched for Puckies, and finally found him near Nookingtons. I talked to him and he said "Thanks for the shirt you sent me, I'm wearing it right now," but he was not wearing the shirt that I sent him. I can't remember what shirt I sent him but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as no matter what shirt I sent him he wasn't wearing it--he was wearing one of my own designs, the "blue-flame shirt". (Like the regular flame shirt you can buy at Nooks, only the flames are blue) Since you can't send your own designs through the mail, I think this was probably a glitch.

Yesterday was raffle day. I won all the prizes for both towns, but I can't remember which prizes went with which town. Anyway, there was a ranch hutch, a blue dresser, Tennis, a dracaena (how the heck do you pronounce that?), a jukebox, and something else, I forget. I had all of them so I sold them all today.

Crap, now I can't remember what the last turnip price I did was, so I'm just going to start on Monday.

  • Fishing 2004-06-28 21:32:12 I went fishing yesterday for about an hour or two. It was raining, and I caught three or four coelacanth, along with several snappers and knifejaws. And, of course, sea bass, which I always threw back. I had learned that if your inventory is full when you fish, you will not pull up garbage, so I tried it (filled it with seashells) and it worked! I didn't pull up a single boot or tire. So I'm going to do that when I fish from now on. However, today when I did it, and tried to trade a red snapper so I could drop a seashell, I got the "You can't drop any more items here" message. So the only way to get rid of it and be able to move again was to let my snapper go. At least it wasn't a barred knifejaw.

Jayn had to deliver something to Bunnie in Costello today, so I traveled and Petunia moved back to Costello, and I immediately got Snooty in Portland. Pleh. I'm not sending her any letters; hopefully she'll just pack up and leave soon. Then Petunia had forgotten something, so I traveled again, and Curly moved back to Costello. His replacement hasn't moved in yet.

I bought turnips in both towns yesterday; the prices weren't very high, so the spike prices (if they happen) won't be very high either, but if Nook does spike this week (and, really, neither of my towns have had spike prices for the last two weeks, so there's a really high chance of at least one of them spiking this week), then I'll probably make at least 3 million bells. Anyway, I bought 6700 turnips in Costello at 79 BPT; and 5300 turnips in Portland at 103 BPT. (I always spend the same amount of money on turnips--549,999 bells, the maximum amount you can carry at one time if your inventory is empty.)

  • Back and forth, back and forth... 2004-06-26 20:54:50 ...yeah, that's how I felt today, when BOTH of my characters had to travel to the other's town to deliver items! Sheesh. Hm... Hambo moved to Portland, and Bunnie moved back to Costello. Ace moved into Costello but he might not be there anymore since Bunnie moved back and Ace was the fifteenth animal.

Turnip prices steadily declined this week. It's a good thing I sold yesterday.

Summer campers in my game this week are Pierce in Costello and Stella in Portland. I haven't gotten anything good from them though. Now I want Stella to actually move into one of my villages.

I keep forgetting to get songs from K.K. Slider. I HAVE to remember to do that tonight. I want K.K Salsa this time. That one sounds very familiar (especially the first nine notes) but I can't think of where I've heard it before.

While Jayn was in Costello, I decided to do some chores for the animals. Blaire the squirrel wanted her camera back, and she said Jeremiah had it. Jeremiah didn't have it however, and pointed me to Pate. I spent a freakin' half hour looking for that stupid duck and finally found her behind Liz's house. I HATE having to search the entire town for an animal. And then she didn't even have the stupid camera! I think Pecan had it.

  • La dee dah 2004-06-24 17:25:04 Yeah, I can't think of a title. Saharah came (again!) to Portland today. However, I could only get one new carpet from her. I talked to her for about forty minutes, but every carpet she was going to sell was one Jayn already had (I have a list). She always seems to come to Portland and hardly ever to Costello, though.

Nook's turnip prices are shooting downward faster than a cannonball hitting terminal velocity. If he doesn't spike tomorrow, which is probably not likely, I have to sell them. I'm going to lose a crapload of money though.

Eunice moved from Portland to Costello, pushing out bitchy kangaroo Astrid. I hated Astrid. Now I have Bessie replacing Eunice in Portland. Bessie's a "repeat" character, meaning that I've had her before, except she used to be in Costello.

  • Gracie and Wendell 2004-06-22 18:49:07 Yesterday, Wendell came to Costello and Audrey got a mortar wall from him. I'm not sure what flooring goes with that. I've got almost all of Saharah's carpets, since you can get a bunch at a time from her, but I only have about three or four of Wendell's wallpapers, and he only comes to either of my towns about once a month if that. Saharah comes like every other freakin' day! She's coming again to Portland on the 24th.

Gracie came to Portland yesterday. I don't mean to brag, but I'm good at getting Gracie clothing. I've already gotten a strawberry shirt, orange pinstripe, snow shirt, cow print, splendid shirt, giraffe print, and yesterday I got a ladybug shirt. I use the rub-a-Bic-really-fast-over-the-A-button approach. Which is probably going to eventually kill my A button, but I have a back-up controller so I don't care if this one breaks.

I was bored yesterday so I made a new game I call Bridge Ball. You find a ball and kick it until it falls into the river, but you have to get it going downstream toward the wooden bridge that Tortimer DOESN'T build. Get out your shovel, and when the ball goes under the bridge, hit the bridge with your shovel and the ball should pop up onto the bridge. When it does, push it back into the river and try to get it back onto the bridge again. You get one point for every time you can successfully get the ball onto the bridge, until you miss and the ball continues downstream.

I didn't do much today. Just ran errands for some animals.
