JOURNAL: Aeri (Rissa Gorant)

  • Help? 2008-01-09 18:00:40 Does anyone have some wonderful suggestions on how one could clean up some particularly dreadful Mushishi footage using programs on a Mac computer? Any assistance would be most appreciated!
  • I hope this doesn't jinx it... 2008-01-08 19:01:03 ...because now I'm incredibly excited about a new video idea (how often does this happen? twice a week?) and I have a song and an anime and PLAN which already sets it above the others by about thirteen lengths and I really REALLY shouldn't be starting to think about anything in depth right now because college started and work started but I can't help it. So here's hoping this pans out!
  • And they're up! 2008-01-08 08:34:45 The winners at Ohayocon 2008 are finally up; scroll down about 2/3's of the way and you'll find 'em. (for some reason I went under Rone this year, I really should pick a pseudonym and stick with it, no?)

Now I don't want to offend anybody who did win, but I think I'm getting a little jaded when it comes to AMV contests like this. It just feels a little like you've got to play to the crowd with your entry, that viewers will will choose based on personal preference (anime used, song used) instead of the quality of the video itself. For example, there were a couple of really impressive videos in the romance category that I felt should have gotten more praise, but ended up simply sadly under the radar (and I'm not even a big fan of romance). I also may be the only person who doesn't enjoy lowbrow humour, so really, my opinions most likely don't mesh with the general public.

Don't get me wrong, though, I still had fun, and seeing all those videos on such a huge screen is always an experience (why isn't my monitor that big!). Good job, everyone!
  • No time to Recuperate 2008-01-07 06:44:11 Alright, so in the contest my drama submission (Absolution) stayed at finalist; 'Eclipse's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time video 'You Are' made Runner-up, and SharinganBlue's Death Note video 'Escaping but not Far' won. Check 'em out!

In Action, my 'Momentum' made Runner-up, which was pretty awesome, and a Hellsing video took first place, one which I can't find on the Org right now, but it was impressive. Good times, everyone!

And now I'm to get ready for learning, because my first class of the semester starts in a little less than two hours (why oh why did I sign up for an 8.30 am class!).
  • Suspense 2008-01-06 09:49:05 Alright, it's fifteen til 10 am, and in three hours and fourty-five minutes, I'm gonna find out how my videos did in the Ohayocon 2008 AMV contest. It was enormous amounts of fun to see them on the big screen yesterday, I must say, and to be honest, that was what I was looking forward to. Of course, not that winning anything would be bad, not at all. But the best part for me is seeing them up on that screen in this huge ballroom with fancy speakers in front of a whole bunch of people I've never met, and hear their reactions. It was thrilling.
