Sunday I bought used copies of Weird Al's "Bad Hair Day" and Extreme's "Pornograffitti". I also purchased a shrinkwrapped copy of "Dust of Retreat" from Margot and the Nuclear So and So's and loving it.
I first heard about Margot on a "going-away" compilation CD people on my dorm floor put together last June. One of the tracks was "Skeleton Key". Then four week ago, I downloaded one of the Facebook alternative samplers and "Quiet as a Mouse" was included. I finally made the decision to get the album after going to their MySpace page and hearing "Vampires in Blue Dresses", which triggered within me the idea of a Tsukihime AMV. I just have to watch the series first before I can seriously consider it. Which I reminds me, I've still made zero progress on my Lain project. Heh-heh...
My Wordpress blog is still going strong although entries have slowed with school fast approaching and my job search. I think in a couple of months, I'll register a domain and host my AMV studio page on their along with the blog and some other thing I'll think of by giving them their own respective subdomains.
I'm resisting getting anything in the RightStuf 10 for $50/25 for $100 Geneon sale mainly because (a) I need that money for rent and (2) I don't think I can come up with ten I'd want to get right now. I'd like to see Koi Kaze (three) and round out Haibane so I can start watching it (two). That's five and I suppose I could just get vol 2-6 of Texhnolyze but I don't know if I can make that kind of commitment. Besides, I still need to watch the four volumes of Kaze no Yojimbo I got for cheap at a Big Lots last month... -

This week, I got two seperate vouchers from a Microsoft class action lawsuit. Put together, they are worth $96. Since I can use the money to buy software, I'm planning to purchase Adobe Premiere Elements (~$99), which can work with VOB files. Yay! Plus it is less RAM-hungry than Premiere Pro (trial is slow as molasses on my computer). I'm likely going to wait a while to buy it though because right now I'm not spending money in order to pay first month's rent. Also a new version, 3.0, will come out some time in September anyway.
Since about two or three weeks ago, Facebook has offered a different 25-song sampler for download. Lots of good free music. I've gotten the Indie and the Rock playlists and am currently downloading Alternative Volume 2. (I think I missed Volume 1.) Next week's is Hip-Hop/R&B...might skip that one.
Oh, last week I picked up some cheap DVDs including the first 4 discs of Kaze no Yojimbo. I've heard it's a good one so I have above moderate expectations going into watching it. -

I've ripped all 13 Lain episodes to my external HDD and now I have to convert them into usable AVIs. I don't really want to wait 6 hours for a 100% quality conversion of EACH one so I'll be experimenting to find the best mix of quality and file size. Will start with 200MB and work my way up. During the conversion, I should probably plan out the storyboard...
Yesterday I bought Muse's "Black Holes and Revelations" as well as KT Tunstall's "Eye to the Telescope". Black Holes is awesome and the lyrics are very distrusting of modern government. "Telescope" has some good songs too. My favorites are "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree", "Miniature Disasters", and "Suddenly I See". I'm already starting to get rough ideas for things but nothing definite if anything. -

Please, leave comments so that I know people are actually reading it. I have a lot out of ideas of what to write about, but I still trying to shape what kind of stuff (reviews, commentary) I'll post. I'm also trying to find a cheap web host and domain so I can add plug-ins.
Classes are going okay except for the two five-page papers that are both due on Tuesday in two different classes. ugh.
Over Memorial Day weekend, I got another AMV idea that might flounder and die. It's for the Bruce Springsteen song "Glory Days" with Princess Nine. The only problem is... that I don't have Princess Nine. So it's a project for summer along with the other two do-able video ideas I have. -

I picked up Haibane Renmei volumes 3 and 4 for $5 each at Gamestop today. Good, right? Yes, except that I haven't seen volumes 1 or 2 so I don't really want to skip 7-8 episodes.
Other than that, I have a stack of Gunsmith Cats manga I want to read but I have a 5 page paper due on Tuesday (gotta work on that this weekend!) and other stuff coming up.
I watched Honey and Clover in less than a week. I thought it was a funny yet dramatic series. Now I want to read the manga but...all eight volumes are in Japanese and the Kinokinuya bookstore is about 2 1/2 hrs away...and nobody has translated it, as far as I can tell.
I'm running for an officer position in my university's Anime Club and most likely win because there are just enough people running to fill each of the five posts. The winners will be announced in two weeks.
