Moving On With Vista
2007-12-13 03:34:59
Saturday, my Dell notebook that I had since June 2004 finally crapped out. I called tech support after running a diagnostic and it turns out that the hard drive integrally failed. Damn. So my parents took me to Best Buy and we bought a reasonably priced HP notebook with Vista Home Premium. I've been carefully adding stuff to it over the past couple days like Vegas and AutoGK and I'm currently doing an audio/video experiment with Bleach to learn Vegas a bit more before I try to make that DearS AMV with it over the winter break.
On a more personal note, I have my last two finals (both philosophy) in about eight hours and then I have the afternoon and the next two or three weeks off! Wahoo! But first I must study so until next time, see ya, journal readers!

Fanime AMV Contest A Little Disappointing
2007-05-29 02:18:19
I went to one of the AMV contest showings during this weekend's FanimeCon 2007 and I have to say that there were only a handful that impressed me. Please note that I missed the comedy section and about a third of both the Action and Drama categories. Even though I know I am not confident enough to declare that I will definitely submit a video for 2008's contest, it has inspired me to actually get moving on those ideas that have not been acted upon. So, this summer I will try to complete at least one AMV although I would like to finish two or more.
One of those ideas is kind of half-baked but I might be able to pull it off. It came to me last week and it involves Dawn and Vanessa from Madlax with a song by Immaculate Machine. The rough plan seems a little silly as it means framing those two as having feelings for each other but I could possibly make something out of it.
The other more solid (which I am posting here to remind myself) are:
* Lain & Catch Me [have set already]
* Excel Saga & Dear Catastrophe Waitress [have set already]
* Detective Conan & Junior Kickstart [need to design stuff]
* Maburaho & Creeps Me Out [need DVDs]
* Dears & Skeleton Key [need DVDs]
* NHK ni Youkoso & Josh Rouse [need good video source]
Hope I realize some of those in the near future!

New Domain & AMV Resolution
2007-01-06 02:37:56
I finally bought my first domain and plan to host my "studio" related stuff up there. I'm also hosting my blog and a wiki on subdomains. The blog is already up and running and hopefully by the end of the month, the main site and wiki will be in working condition as well.
One of my new years' resolutions for 2007 is to write reviews for ALL the videos I have downloaded from AMV.org, or at least the ones I still have copies of. I am planning to also rewatch and re-review the videos for which I had previously submitted reviews because I rated most of them higher then than I would have now, especially in the video quality category.
Another resolution I made was to make two AMVs by the end of the year. Now I have to pick up the capturing process for the current DearS one I'm half-working on and develop another idea or two, mostly over the summer or during breaks.

Initial Planning Begin!
2006-11-17 21:23:19
I'm finally starting to plan what kind of scenes I am going to use in my DearS/Margot AMV out on paper. Next step will be skimming through episodes for footage and making clips to use in editing. I hope to finish the project by early January.
I got the FMA movie Limited Edition a couple days ago and might watch it later tonight. But right now, I'm going off to see "Casino Royale" with some friends!

Favorites Realigned
2006-10-18 02:21:21
I just redid my favorite anime under my profile. The drag-and-drop JavaScript was cool and useful. Dropped from the top 10 were BECK, Bleach, Mahoraba, Azumanga, One Piece, and Case Closed. In their place I added Haruhi, Honey & Clover, Lain, ROD the OVA, FLCL, and Stand Alone Complex. It was a little hard to limit my favorites down to 10 because that meant I'd have to leave hack//SIGN and Evangelion off it.
So I had another idea for a video that I might not get to although I think this one could work really well. It's "Welcome to the NHK" paired with a Josh Rouse song that has a relaxing feel with a good drumbeat in the chorus. I just need to get my hands on the raws or wait for the DVDs to come out here before I get cracking.
The co-op seems to be working out alright but I'm still unemployed so I'm paying my rent using financial aid. Anime Club has kicked off to a good start and the Activities Fair ics tomorrow so I think we're going to pick up some people there, maybe.
