Stuff and other things...
2002-07-24 19:49:54
At the 2:49 mark in my video. I still have mixed feelings about that video.
My sister's going out on the boat with my parents, but I decided to stay here with my older sister (my older sister didn't have a choice because she has to WORK, haha...). I'm just not in the mood for the boat right now... you can hardly move around at all on it and it rains more often than not out on the ocean... plus the fact I'm getting tired of going out on the boat and going the exact same places every summer.
So I'm being boring and staying here^_^
Digital_Dojo: You can still wait five days to give me my opinion if you want; I can wait because I know that I'll get a long, thoughtful review when you do get around to doing it^_^
I currently have three ideas, one major one and two minor ones. The major one can't be made for a while because I'd have to buy the DVD source footage first. The second idea doesn't have an anime it can match to yet. The third idea is still being contemplated; I think I found a song for an Oh My Goddess vid.
Anyway... Bye!

Video ideas
2002-07-24 01:22:05
I did another five to ten seconds on my Dancing With Myself remaster. I'm really losing my inspiration for this video. It looks pretty good, I guess, but I no longer get the same satisfaction working with Final Fantasy clips as I did working with whole anime series. Plus, the video is just a dance video without much concept... I now prefer making videos that have purposes and meaning behind them. Plus the fact that I feel like all the digital effects are just there to gloss over the fact that I don't have nearly as much footage as I would have wanted, so I'm using effects to time places that I couldn't with the actual scene.
I realize that my Escaflowne video idea is very, very, very unoriginal. Not just that there are actually some pretty good videos already done to the song (but not to Escaflowne), but that there are already tons of Escaflowne videos about Hitomi and Van. Of course, I'm not planning my video to be entirely about their relationship (it's kind of indirectly about their relationship), and I have a unique idea for the video that I haven't seen anyone else use yet, but still... oh well... people will just give me three's for originality that's all... the video will have meaning to me if and when I make it, that's what's important to me.
I have found a song that I'm really getting to like. I just love the lyrics. The only problem is I have yet to find the perfect anime to go with it... if I don't find one series that suits it really well I might end up doing various. It's weird because the book I'm reading right now suits the lyrics and song almost perfectly. The fact that there is a book that suits it that well has somehow led me to believe there must be some anime out there that does too... I don't know why.
Anyway... bye for now^_^

Bored again...
2002-07-23 00:25:10
I just finished reviewing your Onegai Teacher video, Omnistrata... go check it out if you want...
I still have a couple more reviews I wanted to write... I have to get around to those soon...
I did another ten seconds on my Dancing With Myself remaster. I only got ten seconds of inspiration, so I only did ten seconds of it. It was a kind of cool ten seconds, but it still needs MAJOR work... argh, those flashes! And I practically gave myself an epileptic seizure with some too-close-together strobes... it looked kind of cool, but a little too flashy even for me, I think^_^ Zooms are useful. They can be very frustrating, but useful. The zoom effect is quickly becoming one of my favorite ones.
I'm still not entirely sure what I think of my current project. It's very different from all my others. It has the editing sync my later videos have, but the same not-much sense but fun anyway style of my older videos. The lack of concept kind of bothers me, but then again, "Odorikuruu" never needed a huge concept to be awesome. I'm worried my video is too much of a take off of Odorikuruu. Even though mine is to Final Fantasy, I used some of the same effects Aokakesu did, like the flashing colored lights and the zoom effects. But I used some effects that were unique to me too; like motion settings and quickly-flashing stobe effects. Oh well... I guess I'll see what it looks like when it's done.
I want to buy the Escaflowne series. I was struck with a major idea for an Escaflowne video the other day. It's not a very original song, but it really suited the situation between some of the characters very well; and I have a story-video idea mapped in my head along with a concpet. Like I said before, typical videos are kind of fun to make^_^
Anway... I'll return to my state of boredom now...

Contemplating the meaning of life...
2002-07-21 01:09:20
I'm at the 1:38 mark in my video.
And for some reason I have a mental block and have no motivation to keep going. Inspiration, where are you?
I went back and watched the two anime videos I made. I compared them with my current project, the Dancing With Myself remake. My current project is very different. I realized a few things.
It is now clear to me that no matter how good a creator you are, it is very, very difficult to create a Final Fantasy video that has meaning. There is limited footage because a lot of the storyline is told using in-game footage rather than the CG sequences used in video-making. Because of this, a lot of important parts in the game are unavailable for use in creating a video unless a creator goes through the trouble to capture in-game footage, which a lot of people don't want to do because that footage sucks graphic-wise compared to the CG sequences and there are text bubbles all over the place when people are talking. So it is difficult to connect the meaning of a song to the overall game, since few of the meaningful parts can be used easily in a video.
As a result, most of the only good FF videos are action videos or short, not-too-much-concept romance videos (and sometimes dancing videos^_^). I've only seen about one or two FF romance videos that are really good, and even those don't have that connection to the game storyline like anime videos do with the anime's storyline. Sure, there have been a few nifty action videos to FF, but beyond that there haven't been too many worthy of recognition. Most of the videos with a lot of concept, storyline, or emotion in them are not FF videos.
Using anime opens a lot more doors for video making. All of the characters' emotions are shown in footage we can edit, and we can incorporate these emotions into the videos.
This video will definitely be my last to Final Fantasy. I want to go back to using anime where I can change emotions throughout the video and create a solid concept. I still like my current project, but it's getting old because to me it seems there's just a lot of the same emotions, and I hate not being able to really connect the song to the storyline I'm using. I've gotten a taste of what it is to make videos that have some meaningful concept, and I want to make more videos that have it. Plain action videos just don't cut it for me anymore.
Anywho...
I watched Kevin Caldwell's "Believe" for what seems like the millionth time (so much fun^_^). After doing that, I realized another thing:
Kevin Caldwell must have the patience of a god. Who in their right mind would have the kind of patience it takes to do perfect lip sync like he did? Not just the lip sync, but the whole freakin' video is like that! Perfect! All of it! How is that humanly possible?
Kevin Caldwell = mad scientist
He must have spent his days in his secret computer laboratory brainstorming those crazy video ideas of his. What kind of a person comes up with such crazily awesome ideas it took to create videos like Engel, Believe, and Caffeine Encomium?
...
I'm going to give editing a rest for a bit. I'm going to watch the Oh My Goddess DVDs then... do something else. I'm definitely going to return to my video after a while... I just have to wait for that inspiration to hit me... maybe someone will come out with a new inspiring video that motivates me...

Working on video.... blah blah blah....
2002-07-19 19:57:54
I'm at the 1:11 mark on my video... those titles still look deranged... ack... and the overlays need work... and some of the flashing lights are off... but other than that I'm happy with the result so far^_^
I'm probably going to take a while to do this vid... depends on how many ideas I get and how long those ideas are going to take and how many things I need to fix when I reached the end of the video...
I'm downloading the fourth Kodomo no Omocha fansub off KaZaA... it's an awesome series so far... it's funny and has memorable characters... more people should watch it!
I wonder how people will like my vids at the MTAC con... I wish I could be there:(
Sierra's thinking on entering her Cheerleading Remix in MTAC... she was going to finish her Oh My Goddess project in time for it but the video didn't end up looking like she was hoping it would and decided on the cheerleading vid instead...
Anywho... back to Premiere^_^
