BAH! one of my sets of speakers doesn't work... well, half of it works, but the left out port thingy on the subwoofer doesn't. so. Anyway I got a good idea of what I bought here (with a little imagination) and it doesn't sound too bad. well I'd decided, after what, 6 2.1 speaker sets. They all sound the same... *shrug* I'm sure there are bad ones, but all I can say is I never gotten one o.0. I gotten bad 2-peicers, but those are so cheap I'm more likely to buy them strictly on impulse.
There... that's a little hobby of mine. I'll add this. I am disapointed by one set I got, the logitechs (at ~$40 the most expensive ones). While they sure sound great (best sounding!), the subwoofer is TOO STRONG and there's no controls for it! When buying speakers be sure and use this checklist. Volume controls (it's best if there are all three of treble, bass and volume controls, depending on your needs, sure your sound card software/ media player may include an equalizer... but it's much too hard to control imo) are VERY important to have and can be on either the satelites that will probably be at eye level, or on the subwoofer, that may be in some closet somewhere or at your feet ;p. so keep that in mind. Also a good thing to have is a headphones jack. This jack may also be located at either the sats or sub. Be advised -_-. Luckily all 5 sets I'd purchased in the last year have come without the NASTY power block... regardless watch out for that. For under 50 bucks you really shouldn't need one!
One thing I was pleasantly suprised with was my 5.1 headphones (the Nikos, el cheapo things), they come with a TON of adapters and a breakout box to split the signal from stereo to 5.1. With this I'm sure I can put the best of these speakers together into a MEGA system ;p. LOL this'll be FUN... if it doesn't kill me.
