  • And I thought Minnesota and Wisconsin were the same place... 2005-09-16 02:02:36 Hell on earth ;p I've been as far up that row of hellish states called the midwest as I want to go. Oklahoma- UUUUUgly, Kansas- Even uglier!, Nebraska- as far as I've gone (Omaha is a town?!! shows how much I know...), hell on earth, especially in the fall where it's either searing hot or frigid cold ~~~ there I go alienating half the US ;p I'm just playing of coarse.

    The ppl are nice though... it's a wonder how they can stay sane in such a place *ex Kansas resident.

    Shino, I got to see your beta thing (memories02), it looks... not so good lol, but it looks great quality wise I was just making a smack about the video quality lol... heh, but anyway, it's Bleach, not much you can do. Awesome that you cut off the subtitles though! but when ppl do, they usually cut off a number of pixels that it's 16:9 or widescreen... I'm not sure how to do that lol... BUT what you could do is just make the thing at 512x288 not 640x480, it's just not a good thing to enlarge video.

    It was a good idea to just lip the guys, but that one old guy just doesn't look right -_- jmo.

    I didn't like the blurs either... I mean the footage is blurry enough any more is just frustrating. Would have been better if this was dvd quality in the first place, but...

    Know that I'm not critiqueing your video here, I hate ppl that do that... like I give ppl something I want some helpfull comments on and they say it sucks (or even it rocks...) that is NOT what I want, I KNOW it sucks, it's my BETA I want it to be BETTER for when I release it! ~grumble grumble~ anyway, so I'm not trying to judge anything till I find the final cut ;p.

    also you might want to explore different types of compression, this may be the best you get, but it doesn't hurt to check other avenues. *this actually looks like Braelin's video so... and no offense to Dax or Braelin (if he sees this) but I just speak my mind... all the time if you hadn't noticed, and Dax has remarked that she can't get good quality with AVIs so she does WMVs, don't be afraid to expirament, shino ;p. When I encode in xvid I make sure the quantizer setting (found in the quality settings after you choose xvid) is at 2. Makes it too big for Dax to d/l it (unfortunateley ><) but it looks a bunch better than the default. Once again, expirament and don't rush it. Read ALL of your options, if you don't understand it, you don't understand it, don't sweat it, but DON'T assume you won't understand something so you don't even LOOK at the advanced options or something. With time you'll understand a WHOLE lot more then you think you will (especially if you read the guides again, like after this video, then you'll note a large improvement most likeley... though the guides are like a technicle MANUAL, 700 pages, by now! lol I tried to print them out one time... I ran out of paper then out of ink and they just wouldn't STOP!) and beleive me, I didn't understand half the guide the first time I read it (and back in 2001 it was just Ermac's and it was only like 5 pages long... I was FREAKED out when I found out it grew like over 100x the size since AD took over! Just the video part is all it used to be, just read that if you like)... wait... your videos are usually wmv lol well... try 2 quantizers otherwise...

    cleaning up my hard drive, hopefully Anime USA will be announced SOON, the friggen con is in November, they've GOT to announce the amv contest soon! I mean, at least the rules so I can get a cut ready and clear off the clips that I've had on my hd for the last 6 months. Ah well, lesson learned, no sense in rushing a video if your obsessed with this one contest. I thought of that when I released it, but I didn't think my obsession would carry me this far. Yes, I'm talking about the same old video I've been talking about for the last few months, I'm saying I shouldn't have released it till November but... YOU TRY HOLDING ON TO A VIDEO FROM MAY TO NOVEMBER!! I got to July ;p. sucks cuz I got a billion ideas with dvds stacking up against the computer but I can't do em cuz I'm to stubborn to work on two things at once even if one is just re-encode it to con specs.

    AWA is in a week, that should be interresting ;p.
