Well, I guess I first encountered something thatresembles an amv graduateing from 8th grade, at a PRIVATE school, to Michel W. Smith nonetheless lol... makes me wonder if they got his permission for that. Well ok, it was just a video collage. I'd written about it here before so I won't waste your time ^.^
Anyway I guess I thought that was a harmless enough idea so I didn't really think about it for years... but than 2000 or so my brothers and I got hyped up over Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim (it was the first year AS aired and all 3 of us would huddle around the tv every midnight ^.^) so, being impatient, I used my l33t haxxor skillz to d/l the rest of the episodes and while doing so came across more edited music videos (like Tainted Donuts, Livin in the Fridge, Stress, What not to do in Video Editing etc.... and of coarse Engle). So I thought 'ya know.... I might as well try this...'. It was only 2000 so the org had no advertisement, only word of mouth, so when researching how to make the vid I was stuck with Doom9.org.... ugh Doom9 lol. Now I am glad I was stuck with them but at first I could NOT understand a THING there, and those freeking geeks over there are NO help. Anyway I started my first amv oblivious to the fact there was much of a community at all, I started it PURELEY in Virtual Dub ;p it was the only thing my puney mind could put together. And this was some 2 years before WindowsME and WMM1 so. In Virtual Dub you just peice the clips and put it all together with your mp3 -_-. I figured out goodys like Key Frames and how to delay the starting of certain clips/ audio and how to make black boxes, de/ re muxing etc. on my own ;p yes, it was the most fun I'd had since high school lol. Well that was that. Wish I could show it to you, it had subtitles, I had NO idea what the heck lossless compression was, so it looked foggy at best, but it was my baby -_- only I lost it back in 03... YEP it was in the war of 03, those damned trenches of moveing crossed country. Damned cd fell out of my flight jacket! ... aaah I need a break lol... that was a terrible joke ;p
Anyway... ummm, after that I found a place I could talk about AMVs, morethantoast.com (some idiot hacked my account and I hadn't been back since so... >.> <.< Kusoyaro), it was nice, but wasn't for me lol BUT it led me here to the org. Here I read the OLD guides that ammounted to THREE count them ONE TWO THREE SIMPLE PAGES! FINALLY! SOMETHING I COULD understand!! So I read the guides, got myself a 2nd hand copy of Premeire (5.0) and whitled away at Domo Prefect. Much improved from my first video. This time I didn't use fansubs, tighter sync, but I still didn't have a CLUE lol.
OK this is getting boring lol... well it wasn't until my 3rd video (2002) that Cons really even entered the question. And it was my third video that I really broke out of the box and got REALLY creative lol. Don't ask me how, somehow I just did. I guess it just comes with the territory. Anyway I'd never been one to just put video to music I wanted something more! Something to change the video from what it was to what it COULD BE.... Either that or it's just cuz somebody on the forum was complaining about there being no amvs for children ;p. Anyway I'm talking about the first video under Knowname, Akira: Castle in the Sky. I totally changed akira from an action pumped psycho thriller to a dramatic story based psycho childs tale ;p. Still I'm very proud of that! And I actually sent it to one of the biggest cons in the US (Anime USA) and it actually made it! Didn't win anything, but it actually made it! Sure, cons with AMV contests were still a budding thing back in 02, but... IT ACTUALLY MADE IT ;p. lol well anyway.
2003 nothing, I tend to gab alot lol. so I just talked and gathered info all spring, summer I was movin' and fall. Fall introduced me to MMORPG (specifically FF11 <nudge nudge>) HELL. I swear
2004 and half of 2005 lost to FF11...
Well 2005 I was able to eek out my reintroduction peice, Doom, probably still my best peice ever ^.^ just not really everybody's style. I sent it into Anime USA that year (2005) but AUSA has passed me by -_- it didn't even make it in. BAH! that's what I get for shooting for the top. *theraputic voice* "There were THOUSANDS of AMVs entered that year to the Hundred or so in 2002! Don't feel bad* LOSER... lol well. I did found out that one of the vids that DIDN'T win in 02 is my favorite vid 'The World She Knows' ;p so I can be proud to be amidst such competition ;p and it didn't even win! Anyway, though Doom wasn't even among the competition somebody said watching the overflow entrys he was more impressed with some of the vids that didn't make it than some of the winners! ... Ahhh well. But that WAS my last con lol.
2006 DUDE! seems in 2006 I'd released 3 videos already!! considering I'd only released 2 videos in the 5 years before and 06 is only halfway done... Anyway the videos I'd released, FFV, nobody understands ;p, My dedication, I just wouldn't feel right entering into cons and Corn... can't be released yet <.< CELIBI!! I'll make a con video yet, but reguardless this is a VERY successfull year for me. I shut my yap long enough to complete 3, 4 videos!!
BTW yes, I have 3 screan names as many of you know. Well I started at the old .org (if you were around in 2001 you'd know what I mean) so there were no rules, I had decided when the next year came around I'd make another account to celebrate my aniversery -_-. That also came about with the advent of the PHP BBs, or more specifically the OT forum. But anyway. so 2001 Sub0 was born, 2002 exactly one year later Knowname (the name I use most on the internet) was born, 2003 or sometime when I wasn't here the rules were born, so no, I'm not intentionally breaking the rule that you can't have more than one screen name... I just had no idea at the time. Anyway since then I'd tried not to make any problems with these. My third S/N is a naughty one though -_-... though again I don't MEAN any malice. I read the rule when I made it, just I REALLY had to make a third person for my Aimaime studio, I, My, Me.
