  • South Carolina State Fair and a Request 2001-10-15 08:35:44 Checked out the last day of the SC State Fair and saw the Beach Boys in concert. It was great!! Rained pretty heavily just before the concert and my family and I sat out in the rain until the concert started. Heh, we didn't have anyplace else to go so we figured "what the hell". The skies cleared right as the concert started so it worked out well.

I have a request for anyone reading this entry, especially AMV veterans. Before I get started on my next video I'd like to get a little more feedback on that last one I made. Just curious to see what others think of it. I've had over 1000 downloads on it, yet only 6 opinions (mostly positive). The video I'm referring to is my "Eva Duel of the Fates" video. Yeah, yeah, I know it's another Evangelion video, but since I'm still a rookie at making vids, I wanted to work on something I was watching at the time. I'm hoping some of you guys can give me a few extra pointers about where I may have messed up in that video and how I can improve. Big reason I'm asking is because I submitted that video to AWA7 this past month and it was never shown due to too much competition. At least to my knowledge it was not shown because during the last hour of the Video Art Track I needed to get some food. I really want to try to improve so that next year one of my videos could be shown to a whole audience. The feedback is much appreciated and criticisms are very much welcome (especially from the veterans).

Guess it's time to start my Monday :P Can't wait until it's over! Thanks for reading!
  • BEER!!!!! 2001-10-12 08:29:37 Ahhhhhhh, tonight's my drinking night. Woohoo!!!! After a week of work, it's nice to be able to go to my favorite bar and throw back a few. Always look forward to it. And the best part is all my drinks are free!! They're free because I develop the website, along with my friend, for the bar. Now if the owner would ever free some time up so we can actually finish the site it would look more complete. But as it is, we've decided to redevelop it and I'm working on the Flash site. Flash 5 is such a cool program!

Going to go ahead and announce the title for my next AMV project, since I'll be getting started on it within the week. I'm calling it "A Robotech Tribute to Star Trek" set to the theme from Star Trek III. From looking at how I want to make it, it's going to be one of the hardest ones I've ever done. Could take me a little while, but I think I can make it work. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a good Friday and GO BRAVES!!!
  • 20 items or less, why can't people read???? 2001-10-11 08:31:27 It seems like every time I go into Wal-Mart for my groceries, someone has to have 50 bazillion items in the 20 items or less isle. Sometimes the cashier will just check all the items out, thus making those of us with less than 20 items wait a while. Other times they'll point out to people that they're in a 20 items or less checkout and then they'll complain that they've been waiting in line all that time and didn't know it was 20 items or less. It's freaking posted on the checkout table and above them!!! So as I go to Wal-Mart today to stock up, I wonder if I'll encounter that today. Just a simple little rant, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that's seen this happen before. I wish Wal-Mart didn't have the best grocery prices in town, otherwise I could go to a simple little place like Winn Dixie or Bi-Lo, but they're too expensive. :(

    Anyway..........
Made a trip to Best Buy in Columbia last night and came within an eyelash of buying a 40 Gig hard drive. It was only $90! It was a nice Maxtor ATA 100, 5400 RPM with 2 MB buffer. But I restrained myself and realized that I really couldn't afford it at the moment. Car payments can do that to you. So I'm going to make due with what I have and if I start to encounter some major problems with making videos, then I'll bite the bullet and get that hard drive.

Will probably try out my new video editing software tonight too just to see what it can do, then probably clean up my secondary hard drive to prepare for my next video. It's just screaming to be made right now! Oh well, enough ranting, time for work. Hope everyone has a good day.
  • Some morning patriotism & humor 2001-10-10 08:31:53 A friend of mine emailed me a link to a flash movie. The movie was made in tribute to those who lost their lives in the September 11 tragedy. Looks like the guy that made it worked really hard. If anyone wants to see it, go to this link: http://www.bloodnj.org/america.swf
The file is large, but I think it's worth it.

Also heard something on the radio that caught my attention. The "Morning Rush" at WNOK in Columbia, SC read something they found on the Internet about whether hell was endothermic or exothermic. It's pretty funny! It was a question asked on a test at some university (not sure where). One student responded with an interesting answer. Found a link to it here:

Well, time to get to work. Gonna work on my Flash 5 skills a little bit today. Hehe, going to be fun!
  • Hell of a day so far & other stuff...... 2001-10-09 14:03:21 I needed a break cause I just got off of the phone with Verisign. Good Lord their policies are nuts! To make a long story short, one of our clients made a payment for their domain back in August to Network Solutions, then it turns out Verisign bought them out last month. Therefore we received an odd invoice for $16 for the domain we just finished paying for. Inquired them last month about it, then receive a letter this month saying they'll turn of the domain if they don't receive their $16. Called them again and found out what's going on (finally!). Turns out the $16 is a promotional offer, they're going to refund the previous check that we sent to them for the domain and in turn we pay the $16 for two year ownership of the domain. Gosh, that's a little silly, but I'm glad that's cleared up. Anyway..............

Decided not to get a new hard drive because I really can't afford one right now. Maybe next year. However I have decided to upgrade my editing software. Only $30 to upgrade videofactory so I'm going to do that this week. I like that program. It's not as complex or powerful as Premiere, but I think it gets the job done. Also plan on getting started on a new video within the next two weeks. Have the idea, just need to get it going!

I also saw on here that someone has a birthday, so, even though I don't know you....Happy Birthday, EK. Have a good one.
