So AMV making is not going as smoothly as one might have hoped basically because something in Premiere made my computer crash and everything I have done up until this point is gone because the computer is trashed. (yes, phade, I know. Back up your files.)
At this point, I am just glad that I am over 21, and it is legal for me to drown my sorrows in myers dark rum. This is not what I had expected for a birthday or christmas present. (My birthday is next week, right in the middle of finals--not a good holiday season for Valentine this year)
Ah, well. They say the more pain that goes into the raw product the more beauty the finished posesses. Maybe. Probably. I'm DAMN sure gonna make it that way!

Next AMV started

Now I know how many of you think there are way to many Neon Genesis based music videos out there-- and really you are right. However, that does not stop me from wanting to make a Rei video since I think there are a plethora of vids to everyone and anything else except her. Unless of course, you count the comedies which play with the fact that she is so un-natural. Those videos make me sad. :(
So I am going to make one about Rei that makes me happy. I am using footage form both Neon Gen and End of Eva although the quality of the End of Eva is not great because I am taking it off of a fan sub I own. (I looked into getting the End of Eva DVD in raw japanese and it was wayyyyyyy out of my price range, so argh!! I tried.)
I plan to have this video done just in time to enter in Sakura Con, with maybe another Amv or two done somewhere in the middle so I don't become a complete loonie.

Finished!

Well, I am done, and the video actually isn't as hideous as I thought it could be. I really like the beginning and the end, but the imbetween is just passable.
I don't think I'll be uploading it on to the net anytime soon though, 'cause it made me wince just to show it to my fiancee.
There is the possibility, if I don't make anything better by tben, that I'll enter it at Sakura Con. I'm hoping to have made a much better video by then though. This video only purpose was to introduce me to Premiere, cause I've used Adobe Pagemaker for several years, and I know how crappy the help is.
I think some exec at adobe must have a secret spy device graphed on to the card, so he can laugh while we tear out our hair yelling "What the #$@@! did this just do?"
Anyway, the video's ok, I'm tired, and it's a good thing.

caturing started (newbie struggling--are sure you want to read this)

This is for my own benefit so I can look back in a couple of months and see how far i have come. However, If anyone else is brave enough to read it, by all means, start plowing.
I am using pinnacle dv500 and adobe premiere, which I hear is a very sweet set up, but right now, I am happy I have managed to figure out how to edit my captures. Next I have to figure out how to import my audio. I have a feeling that is going to be a all day pain.
The equiment I am using is actually at my college computer lab, so if you have access to a lab, I'd suggest checking it out to see what they have. I've only spent $10 on this vid so far because of the lab.
This is my very very fist AMV, and I am finding it is harder to find clips that will fit exactly like I would like them to than I really expected. So far I think everything is about 3 seconds off, and I have to figure out how in the world to fix it. I am also learning all about the jerky edit, and how undesirable it looks. More stuff to fix. I also have no idea how to use most of the options available in premier, so it's just more confusing so far.
For my first AMV, I am using Nightwalker, because I didn't want to use an anime that I loved on my first video. Any outcome wouldn't be good enough if I did that.
Instead I decided to use an anime that I like, and I thought had good AMV potential. This way hopefully I can maintain some level of detactchment so death wishes/hysterics aren't quite as likely when my AMV looks nothing like anthing good.
See ya,
Valentine
