JOURNAL: FirestormXIII (Robert X. Hill-Williams)

  • And it's been a while.... 2002-04-26 02:42:45 Hey all, damn it's been a while since I've written in my journal. I'm not gonna talk about what I've been up to in the past couple of weeks the site's been down (and been back up) I just noticed someone asking about streamload and wanted to put my opinion of the service out there.

I used streamload to store my videos a couple of months ago. I went with freeloader for a while, because I was just storing the videos, not distributing them. Streamload is a great service if all you're looking for is storage (because yes, they do have *unlimited* storage) then streamload is great. The problem comes in if you want to distribute your videos on the web. Streamload only allows you to send videos, and other files you may have stored, to other Streamload users. So if you're looking for storage then Streamload is the way to go, if you're looking for widespread distribution then it's not. When I downgraded my account on Streamload (I'm just a freeloader again. I don't really use it for storage anymore because I have a host now) I did have an exchange with one of the guys that runs the service. I talked to him about the possiblily of providing links so people outside streamload could download videos. He was very nice and helpful and said that he'd be looking into it in the future (that was in jan.-feb.) I haven't really been back since to check out any new developments since though, so I don't know what it's like now. I think I'll check up on that tomorrow, right now I need to go to sleep because I need to be up in 5 hours. Hope this info helped.

  • Damn typos... 2002-04-16 14:51:18 Hehe, I meant to say 700 hits, ooopss...

I'm amazed that people actually read what I write in here. I just got around 25 hits in the last 20 minutes. Wacky...

Another piece of random news: Well I got on hotmail today and I just happened to look at my junk mail...I had 180 peices of mail in it. I just thought to myself, 'now that can't be normal' and went and looked. It had put all my mail from the amv mailing list in the junk mail bin for like the past week. Dumb service, dumb. Eh, I can't really knock it though, it is free.
  • A random bit of news... 2002-04-16 13:02:17 Well, out of boredom I just looked at Digital_Dojo's journal 8 times, so now he should have at least 800 hits.

My journal has been looked at 280 times. Oh well I only started around the middle of this month, I guess that's not bad. Well, on to the forums...

    Later.
  • Preach on, bro, preach on 2002-04-14 21:30:17 I just wanted to give Digital_Dojo a round of applause on his rant. I was reading the responses to xeno's one man war against hentai videos earlier today and thinking 'If this kind of thing keeps up we'll have nothing but Pokemon videos left on this site'. I fall under the same kind of umbrella as DD: I grew up watching violent movies, played games like mortal kombat, and listened to music with cursing and violence in it, but guess what, I'm not a raging lunatic because of it. If anything, I'm more understanding of the world around me, and far more aware that violence and the like is wrong. It also helped quite a bit that I had a loving mother who taught me things like, oh I dunno...MORALS.
To xenodrake: Half the problem with the world today is people like you trying to 'help' kids when the responsibility for teaching other people's kids lies not on your shoulders, but on the shoulders of the Parents of these children. But because of the invasion of the government and people like you trying to decide what is 'decent' for children to see and hear many parents have let the responsibility of teaching their children become someone else's burden. That's not the way it should be. If parents would show their kids right from wrong and teach them values it wouldn't matter if they saw a naked body, or saw someone get shot, because they'd already know right from wrong. Let parents monitor their own kids, don't try and do it for them.
And on the subject of you not liking hentai, xeno: This is America, no one is holding a gun to your head and making you download all the hentai vids on this site. Take your mouse, and hit the 'back' button on your browser window if you don't like something you see online, it's that simple. Don't make your problem everyone else's. No five year old kid is going to get online and join animemusicvideos.org just because they want to see a naked person. Hell, if you said the word hentai to damn near every 5 year old in America they wouldn't know what you were talking about. No one going and searching 'porn' on the net is going to recieve Animemusicvideos.org as an answer. If one day that does happen then yes, something needs to change, but until that time stop trying to drown other people's freedom in your vast ocean of high morals.

Well, that was my rant for the day.
    G'night everyone.
  • Oh the humanity...or lack thereof 2002-04-13 10:06:32 Well, I just realized that I'm missing four more DVD's than I thought had been taken after I got robbed on Thursday night. That brings the total to my VHD:Bloodlust, Princess Mononoke, X, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Cowboy Bebop Sessions 1&2, and Street Fighter Alpha being stolen from me. Now the only anime I have left is the first disc of Trigun and the Transformers movie. Good god. And I had so many good ideas for videos. Well, the upside is that I only got two games stolen. And I just got the Eva Perfect Collection when I came home this weekend.
So at least I'll have something to watch until I can replace the DVD's over the summer.

In other news, I'm seriously considering writing a 'Guide to being a newbie' I think it's about time someone did. I'm gonna run the idea by Phade and see what he thinks.
