In the still of the night...
2002-07-24 19:25:20
...I was sitting in the chatroom when I should have been asleep. I swear, it's like trying to quit smoking not going to that place. (well, I'm guess it's like trying to quit,I wouldn't know since I don't smoke) it's still every bit as nutty as it was the last time I was there, and there's always a 10 or more people in the room now. I remember when 6 was a whole lot, and half the people in the room were lurking anyway. Wow, that kind of nostalgia makes me feel like I've been here for a while. I can't imagine how people who've been here for two or more years feel like seeing how things change.
Anyway, I've been working on my video, and I'm *still* extremely surprised that my ambitions and excitement for doing this video have not faded. In fact it's grow over the last day or two. It's kind of scary, since I usually get into the 'Damn I'm going to throw this laptop out the window' or 'Screw it, I'm not doing this anymore...today'. I haven't had that once yet, in fact I wish I had more time to work on it. Alas, I don't, but the video is still coming along very nicely. I'm now around 1:10 on the video, and it's all solid too. Well, as solid as anything is when I'm editing. Today I went back and fixed a lot of stuff in the beginning. Not that there was anything wrong with it; just that I was being anal about certain scenes.
So I fixed up the beginning (which now looks quite good to me, though I know there's little things I can fix, but those'll come later when I go over the entire project and adjust things) and finished up the beginning and mid parts of the solo section I'm currently on. When I was working on it I noticed that the scenes seemed to be off a little when they changed with the guitar. At first I thought one scene was lagging behind another, but that didn't turn out to be the case. It turns out that a couple of my timeline markers were one frame off. (I learned a little trick today though, almost any downbeat or note that hits when the music is played forward is actually two frames back from where it occurs.)
So I went in and fixed those and adjusted my clips accordingly. Then, since I was already doing it, I went through other parts of my vid and checked to make sure they were right. Almost all of them were, except for two, one I fixed, and the other I let go because the beat that occurs there is sustained a bit, and it's nearly impossible to tell it's not exactly on. I know I'll fix it later though, me being me. After I finished my cleanup I rendered my vid. I won't see how everything turned out until I get home though, because I set it to render right before I left for school. So I'm about halfway on the video, and still going strong. I definetly expect this to be done in mid/end-August if it continues at the rate it's going.
Well, I'm off to surf the forums and maybe download a vid (since I'm on the LAN here in the computer lab. Too bad they don't have it set up so laptops can be hooked up, otherwise I'd download and actually be able to see the vid later. Oh well, that's the way that goes. I need a bigger harddrive too...but that's an entry for another time.
Later folks.

The Humanoid Typhoon

Finished watching disc three (yesterday) and disc four (a couple of minutes ago) of my Trigun box set. It only keeps getting better. Funy thing I noticed is that as dark as it gets sometimes, there are still times of levity in the show; it's not just out-and-out dark and depressing. Deep series, can't wait to finish it, but I may give it a rest till tonight and work on my video instead. I'm nearly done with the solo section of the song and my idea worked out quite well. Only problem is that the solo goes faster than I thought it did, so it makes the section look rushed. I dunno, I'm gonna finish it up and tweak it and see how it looks then.
I also played Gran Turisimo 3 this morning before hitting the shower. I never liked racing games before, but GT3 is quickly changing my mind about some of them. The liscense tests are hard though.
On a side note, I skipped work today (it was overtime though, not regular hours) because I was freakin' EXHAUSTED. I needed a day to just lounge around.

Holy Bustin' a Cap, Batman!

I got paid today! No more credit card bill!
*ahem* Yea, now with that little announcement out of the way let's get on to the reason I was writing this post.
I finally sat down today after work and watched Disc 2 out of the Trigun Box Set I bought a couple of days ago (see journal below for details) and I must say...it's a change from disc one. I'd have to say my favorite moment was actually getting to see Vash fire his gun for the first time. To me it was like 'He really is Vash the Stampede'. That coincidentally makes my second favorite moment when Meryl finally realizes that Vash is...well, Vash. The $$60,000,000 man Vash, not goofy, stupid Vash that she'd known. I can't explain it, it was just a cool moment.
The whole disc was quite good (hell, the whole series has been good so far) and it's definetly gotten more serious. The end of the episode 'Lost July' also struck a chord with me.
This series is good, and I'm more than certain it's going to get better. My Trigun AMV idea is also fleshing itself out more now that I've seen that Vash's personality and situation matches what I have planned.
I can't wait to keep watching now (there goes my weekend). The series still has its goofy moments though, and from what I hear it gets a lot more serious later on, so I'm expecting it to get a bit darker as well.
On the video editing front my project is going quite well. I had hit a rough spot with a solo in the song, and for a while I was thinking about editing it out, but I've figured out what I'm going to do with it now and work is proceeding at a good pace again. And I must say I feel for Absolute Destiny for all the one-frame editing he did in 'Shameless Rock Video'. Why, you ask? Because single frame editing is a bitch. But it's well worth knowing how to do, and easier once you get a system down. I've figured out a very odd thing with the 'block select' tool. You can use it to create a virtual clip that has all the effects and music that you used in the section selected. And you can move it around and use it just like a normal clip. I have to see if I can delete the audio from it though, if I can I can put it to use. Between editing and watching the rest of Trigun my weekend really is shot.
That's about all for today, I'm in the college e-library now. Maybe I should read the Ramayana before my World Lit class starts. Oh the joys of school...

I am so horrible...
2002-07-16 19:26:34
Today I went out with plans to get the new Dave Matthews Band CD(Busted Stuff), the new Oasis CD, and VHD:Bloodlust (had to replace it, got stolen). Did all that, and I should have ben done shouldn't I? Yep, I sure should have. But alas this is me we're talking about, so it didn't. I ended up picking up Gran Turisimo 3 as well (it was only $20). But THEN I went upstairs to Gamestop, since I had 60 more bucks to blow. Now I was going to get a game, but there was nothing out I wanted, so I wandered over to their DVD rack...bad mistake. I've been looking for the Cowboy Bebop Perfect Sessions Box Set (saw it once in Suncoast, never saw it again) but I haven't found anyplace that has it yet. But what Did I see? The Trigun box set (much more common where I am than the CB box)...for only $149.99, which is about 50 bucks less than I'd seen it anywhere else. So what did I do? Left the store, got $110 from the MAC machine and went back and bought it. No real reason, just did it. I haven't even had this overwhelming urge to watch the series, or buy it for that matter, but I did. This on top of a 600 dollar credit card bill I have hanging over my head thanks to my car. Cest la vie applies well in this case. But it's o.k., because I get paid this week for all the overtime I pulled last weekend. That should take care of my bill. Next up on my buying list: Gamecube, solely for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Sonic Adventure 2.
And my never-ending search for the Cowboy Bebop box set also continues. Guess my Trigun project gets pushed up on my project 'to do' list.
Later folks, gonna surf the forums before I have class. I probably should do my homework to...

...

Outside where I was working today (for the whole day, no less) it was 104 degrees. And that was at 2 o clock...I don't even want to know what the temperature was at 12...
Well I finished my Intro to Sociology summer class last Thursday and today I start my American Lit class. Unfortunately the time for my Lit class is from 8:10-10:40p.m. I'm more than certain I'll be dead before the week is out, because I'm going to die from a combo of sleep deprivation and heat stroke. Fun, fun, fun...
But if this class is anywhere near as fun as my last class then I'll be ok. It's only five weeks anyway.
In other news:
I've been working on my video everyday during my breaks at lunch, and sometimes when I have time at home. It's coming along rather well, and I'm not rushing it. I've also been working with Photoshop (I'm altering a pic to make it my avatar) and I've found out one very special, very specific thing...
I suck at Photoshop.
I think I'm going to give my brain a break from the senseless beating I've been giving it by just trying to work with Photoshop and figure it out. It's becoming readily apparent that it's not as intuitive as Premiere, so I'm gonna take some time and read the manual.
Oh well, gonna go check the forums and finish my dinner now.
Later.
