A break is always nice...

Well...it been a few weeks since finishing my last vid and I've been taking it easy. Getting full nights of sleep, playing some game, seeing movies (saw Clerks 2!), watching new anime, etc. So in short, taking it easy. But with all the relaxing and taking it easy I do plan to finish one more vid before the year ends. I'm toying with some ideas in my head so I haven't nailed down my next solid concept, but I'm pretty close. Probably gonna do either a drama/action or a drama/horror vid for a change of pace. I'll post an entry when I nail down which idea I'm gonna stick with. With school coming up soon I don't really know when to expect this to be done.
Some other interesting things that might be happening in the future are coming up as well. When school starts I hope to finally get into my After Effects class without it getting cancelled. Also, outta the blue I've been asked to try out fr a professional roller hockey team. I haven't played for a couple months but I gotta get back in practice and try to make that team. Can we say corporate sponsors buying all new equipment? Hehe...anyway sounds pretty cool to me and I hope I make it. And in a month and some change is AWA, wheee! And then a week after that is NDK! So it's gonna be a busy couple months for me but I do expect to get some editing time in there somewhere. Well....until next time! -

That's right my new action vid is finally finished and just 3 days shy of the AWA Pro deadline! (Talk about squeezing it in at the last second.) But safe to say I am very happy with the results. It came out exactly how I wanted it to initially, but with effects in the mix rather than all simplistic like I thought. So yeah, I don't wanna say alot stuff about my video so that it won't make it too obvious for the blind judging...but maybe I'll say a quick something anyway.
It came out looking very stylish and I do consider it my best "edited" video. "Edited" meaning that all the footage is very tightly matched to the song. I'll probably be releasing this one closer to AWA or after depending on when all this judging and such is over, but look forward to it! And wish me luck in the contest because the competition will probably be very harsh.

Over the past few weeks I've been on a break from editing. I've been looking for more music to use, catching up on watching some shows and just tinkering with some ideas in Premiere to pass the time. Just recently I went back and watched alot of my older stuff and realized something, even though I'm trying to be ambidextrous with all styles of editing I still have a visible style and trait to my editing. This trait is the same thing that's been giving me problems with my current vid but now that I've realized and accepted it I think everything will begin to go nice and smooth again.
This realization is the fact that every AMV I make involves new, unique effect ideas and is always a step up from my last video. Sounds pretty simple to figure out but that was precisely the problem that I've come across recently. With my new video I was trying to take a step back and make something more simplistic and easy, but it seems like I won't allow myself the comforts of staying in one place with my editing techniques. With every video I feel that I have to experiment and improve or else the ideas don't come. The only time this doesn't happen is with Iron Chef vids...probably due to the time constraints...
Sorry for the rambling, but this is a self realization for me that has really cleared my thoughts and gotten me back on the right track with my editing. I feel like I'm ready to get back to editing my new action vid and I've already got ideas for the part I've been stuck on for so long. So it looks like I'll be back to editing as soon as I get back from Anime Expo...which, BTW, is in 3 days! I can't wait! -

This kinda sucks but my action vid is slowly working it's way into a corner with me. I've been working on and off on a certain sequence for the past 3 weeks and I'm really getting nowhere. And now when I look back at the footage I already have completed, I find that I want to change most of it. I'm really at a loss for thoughts here. It doesn't seem like this project is going to move for me since I'm already two months into it and I feel like I'm going to have a go back to square one with it. I'm torn because I like the beginning of the vid alot but after the first minute I really just can't make anything fit the way I want it to. It's very aggrivating. I might end up shelving this one for a while if the editing doesn't start going better and work on a side project until I can flesh out a way to get this vid moving again.
*sigh*...the creative process sucks sometimes... -

I'm about 50% done with my new action vid which I've decided to turn into my AWA Pro vid and things are looking good. It's taking longer than I thought due to lack of having alot of freetime and when I do I'm usually too worn out to do anything. On top of that, I've been going back and forth on scene and effect selection so I've had to revise the beginning over and over. But I think I found a groove that I like it in so it should be coming along nicely in time for the July deadline for AWA. I'm just sad that I won't be able to release it until after the con. :(
As for the title of this entry...I have too many ideas. As I've been working on this current vid I've come up with solid ideas for a deep romance vid, an angsty drama vid and a fun/comedy/dance vid. Now usually I'll get these spur of the moment ideas that seem awesome when you first think of them but after really trying to picture the whole vid they fall apart. But with these three ideas I really have good solid plans for and I can picture all of them in my head. So after I finish my current vid I have no idea what I'm gonna do and it's making me irritated. I really want to do all three but I gotta just go with one. And for all of them, mostly the dance/comedy, they're gonna be a good amount of work. Bah...so many decisions...
