JOURNAL: Rozard (Brian Nickerson)

  • Hey, at least it was better than "Kite" 2002-03-26 21:35:39 Just got finished watching "Blood: The Last Vampire." I can't say that I was very impressed. Though visually impressive, it lacked a fulfillment and satisfaction. I feel empty, like there should have been more to the movie. Maybe if that's the beginning to a series, it's a good intro. It's kind of confusing. I compare this to "Kite" because, in my opinion, Kite was way underdeveloped and poorly executed. It was very confusing and plain chaotic at some points, where as others, time just seemed to stand still and nothing of importance happened. "Kite" was not entertaining to me, but "Blood: The Last Vampire" was. "Blood" at least kept a fluid timeline, and you knew what was going on, but could have been longer, and done a little more character development. Kite feels like a 'Part 2 of 3.'

When I told my man ishkiodo I was going to watch "Blood," he said something to the extent of 'don't expect much.' We agreed that it was visually exciting, but should have been somewhat longer. I recommend the movie anyway, because everyone thinks differently. Someone else might say that "Blood: The Last Vampire" is their favorite movie, but not me.

...I just realized that the Saya is the name of the girl from "Blood," where as in "Kite," the girl's name is Sawa. Noodle that one for a while...
  • KaZaA fucking sucks 2002-03-26 17:14:59 I know it's not great quality and all, but I'm trying to download episodes of Evangelion off KaZaA, and it's slow as balls, or not working at all. It's not that I'm *really* cheap, it's just more conveinent for me. I don't have to drive half an hour to the store and use my roommate's computer to watch the DVD. Plus I can save what little money I have. I'm almost to the end of the series. I rented episodes 18-23, and I only have 24-26 left, plus the two movies. I suppose I'll rent them tomorrow.

And what the hell is with the chat room's attendance tonight? I've been gone a few nights, and it's reduced to three people! Just a few days ago, there would have been at least eight people, even Friday night!

Ugh. College sucks. That's why I'm going to be a rock star. Or a radio DJ. The program I'm in now, Music Business, is so radically changing, it's not even funny. Record sales are down 9%; Blank CDs out sold pre-recorded CDs. There's going to be a major overhaul in the record industry. The only problem is, they think that everything's going to collapse. That's because they're dependent upon an outdated system of selling units to people and making money. They can't yet grasp the concept of using other methods of distribution, such as the Internet. File sharing online isn't hurting the music business as a whole, it's hurting the record companies. They make their money when they sell round, little pieces of plastic. The artists make their money by performing, so if you really want to support your favorite group, go see them in concert instead of spring to buy every CD that's out there. Besides, a concert is much more enjoyable than a repedative recording.

Once I get back home for the summer (and next school year), my group, Silver Elixir, will do a lot of recording and touring (hopefully). We are in the process of recording, what I guess you could call our debut album. We've already created a few CDs already, but they haven't been open for sale, or under our new name and line-up. Hopefully, this next one will be made available to the public. I'll start advertizing once we're ready. Until that time, I've got work to do. I'll see you in the chat room, that is, if anyone shows up. Love & Peace!
  • MUSKRATS IN SWINTRUNKS! 2002-03-25 12:11:53 For those of you who have no earthly idea what I'm talking about, read "Dork Tower." It a comic book about some obsessed gamers. There's Matt, Igor, Dan, and Carson the Muskrat. I'll give you a few examples the book:

Dan: "Hey Carson! How was the online role-playing game?"
Carson: "URRGH! Half the players were morons! We couldn't coordinate anything! Communication was a pain, then some geek killed the entire party on purpose! ARRGH!"
    Dan: "In other words..."
Carson: "Just like the real thing. Frankly, I'm impressed."

Matt: "So what kind of character are you playing now, Igor?"
    Igor: "A healer."
    Matt: "Really?
Igor: "Yes! A shamanistic lover of life and the earth. A spiritual and physical healer. A kind of amalgam of Mother Theresa and Gandhi!"
Matt: "Wow. What a profound combination."
Igor: "I'd like to think so..."
Matt: "OK. So the adventure starts..."
    Igor: "LET'S KILL SOMETHING! HUZZAH!"

    Background: "EEE! EEE! EEE! EEE!"
    Igor: "What's that?"
Dan: "An alarm system I developed. For example, if we wander down that hall, it sounds like we'll find something horrible, vicious and deadly."
    Background: "EEE! EEE! EEE! EEE!"
Igor: "As well as what's left of Carson?"
Dan: "Progress is a cruel mistress..."
Carson: "EEE! EEE! EEE! MY SPLEEN! EEE!"

Yep, loads of fun! There's even a whole book where Matt and Igor make a trip cross country to visit a convention, aptly titled BigCon. Anyhow, not much else to report on. I visited home the other day for my best friend's birthday. He'll be 19 Tuesday. I also recorded some with our band, now renamed Silver Elixir. We're a rock band, and I mean rock like Led Zeppelin. I'm sorry, supersai45, but we weren't able to record that song for you. I'll try and make an arrangment of it on my computer. Can you use MIDI for your videos? If not, I'll try to convert it to wav or mp3.

That's it for me. You can check out my videos by checking my profile. I going now to get aloe with my girlfriend. We played mini-golf yesterday, and got kinda sunburnt. Peace out, and don't forget your sunscreen!
  • Rain drops keep fallin' on my head... 2002-03-22 13:03:07 Ugh. I was born and raised in South Florida, but I still can't predict the weather. There's dark clouds all around here in Miami, but as soon as it starts raining, it stops. Which is a good thing, I suppose, seeing as I woke up sick today. Nothing beats waking up to a hangover when you don't drink.

As probably none of you know, this is my first journal entry. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if no one reads this, because I'm not a name they recognize. Well, I'm trying to change that. I'm on the AIM Chat Room quite a bit. I've done 4 videos, none of which have been rated yet *wink*. My AMV creating is on hold because I'm finishing out a year of college at UM (Miami), which, unfortunately, I will not be attending next year. I really like it here, it's just that Living-on-my-own + ADHD - medication = Fails classes. At least my core classes, like English. I'm a music business major, and I'm doing fine in my music classes. I'll be attending CC for a year or two and try to go back. The only trick is getting my scholarship back. What, you thought I was paying $35K out of my pocket?! I think not!

I really need to get some equipment for my computer. Once I'm back working again, I'm setting aside some money for a capture card and a good editing program. Right now, I'm cheap-assing it, using footage I found online in Windows Movie Maker.

As for now, I'm going to leave the AIM Chat on and take a nap. Sleep's good when you're sick. Would someone pass me the Vitamin C pills?
