10 ½ days til AWA...

I CAN ALMOST SMELL IT!!! *Sniffs the air* Ew, someone farted.
So, yes! My band played last night! It was the first time that we (Well, I) performed. I wasn't the original drummer, but I've been it for about 6 months now, and we played our first set at my church's Coffee House. Aside from a few technical difficulties (The organ pedals had a wired that was ripped out, and we couldn't see to fix it) everything went on pretty much without a hitch. We played 4 songs, though we planned for 5, but the band before us went 15 minutes long.
The band before us was pretty cool. Their drummer was fucking amazing. The guitarist and bassist weren't as into the show, but still rocked. They pretty much played heavy power rock. I can't think of a band to compare them to. The opening band were a bunch of Dead Kennedys wannabes. They sucked dried up old cock. After the opening band, one of my friend's younger sisters went up and did an acoustic set. I never knew she was so good. Although it wasn't lively music, she put on a great show. Third was the forementioned band, fourth was my band, and last was the star of the show. Well, Star of David of the show. Their name was The Stars Of David, or something like that. They put on a sort of melodic rapcore bit, and were pretty good. I'd say something like P.O.D. meets Trick Turner (Whom I hate).
We opened with a plain out rock song we made, called "Fortress." Since I wasn't using the drum set we keep in the studio, I flubbed a few parts. nothing big, but my friend's set that I was using was tighter and more constricting than the one I use, and there were more cymbals, so once or twice I stalled before hitting a cymbal because I got confused (Hey, I've only been playing 6 months! :^P ) Well, the crowd loved this number. We went straight into "Your Way," which also rocked the house, more than the last IMO. Then we had to switch to the organ for "Questioning Reality." That's when it went to hell. I took forever for the organ to get fixed because we thought we had it right. Well, in the end, the G pedal wasn't working, so our organ player/guitarist/singer just played the bass in the left hand. Well, we managed through that one. Our last song was Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter," whic incited a cheer from the old people in the room :^P Even without the pedals, the song went great. I was a little fast because I was kind of nervous from the technical difficulties. About halfway through the song, out orgainst (That sounds sexual) accidently hit the BEAT key on the keyboard on top of the organ. It started playing some rap beat, and we thought it was the people running the thing trying to get us off stage because we were running long. I realized what it was and ended the chorus a little earlier than usual so he could stop it. After we finished, we got a lot of applause and people shouting "Only human!" They understood that mistakes happen, and were a great crowd the whole time.
Well, that about wraps it up for me. I just have one last thought before I hit "Enter." One of the girls I was talking to at the thing said she really liked our music, and really liked that we incorporated an organ in it. She thought it was new and original. "Strange," I told her. "We think it's great because it's old and retro. It's a different style, yes, butit's like paying homage to the great bands in the past." Well, it's like how Bellbottoms are being called Flares, and are being sold everywhere now for girls. Peace!

13 days til AWA....

The weirdest thing happened this morning: I was woken up by my ex-girlfriend knocking on my door! =O Well, what had happend was, she was going to go home this weekend (Ft. Myers, FL), and to do so, she was going to cross Alligator Alley to get to the west coast. Well, if you watched the news today, you would know that there was a possible terrorist threat there. Well, she IMed me saying she was taking -95 out of Miami to get to State Road 80, which is in my city. She decided she'd stop by and say hi, since I went down to visit her a week ago.
Well, I had not gotten this IM, since I was still asleep. The phone rings at 10AM, and it's her, and as I'm talking to her, I can hear her outide. Freaked me out, you'd figure. Well, I got dressed and let her in, then turned on CNN. Pretty funny, some faux terrorists were getting their luggage blown up. Well, she stayed for a bit then left.
After that, I went to my church and played drums with a friend. He's been playing drums for about 20 years or so, so I figured I could pick up some tips. ;^) He's fucking awesome, and he used to be in a hair metal band. *Laughs* Then I had to work.....-_-;;;

Zabet: Will I be able to buy a MTT sticker from Akimbo/Kwasek at AWA?
Well, physics was a joke today. I swear, even if I didn't take that class in high school, I would be bored in this class. -_- The teacher keeps reminding us that "You can use the Pythagorean Theorum to find the magnitude of a side of a right triangle." No shit, you dumb bitch! :^P
*Sigh* I've got work tonight for 4 hours, so that means exceptional excitement brought on by pushing buttons, while earning money doing so. ^_^ Also, I heard on the radio that the former members of Rage Against The Machine have gotten back together with Chris Cornell, under the name Audio Slave, and are in the studio working on new material. I just hope that their album under the name Civilian will be released.

Quickie before school ~_^

Noooooooot exactly. A quickie post!
Zerophite: I didn't see my journal entry as arguing with the guy, but instead I was questioning his motive. What did he hope to accomplish? What was his reasoning behind attacking me in his journal? I hold no grudge against him, but I don't comprehend why he had to say what he said.
