JOURNAL: Bowler

  • Just a quick note between fixes. 2002-05-12 00:28:12 Playing Morrowind. Thoroughly addicted.

Showed Phil the Spike Bebop vid, and he seemed to enjoy what was there. It was just a quick showing, but his enthusiasm over the parts that I just thought were somewhat lacklustre helped me figure out where the rest of the video needs to go.

Hopefully I'll be done with it in a few weeks.

Titles need to be better, though. WAY better.
  • More Spidey goodness 2002-05-08 00:05:23 From MCWagner: "Ask a comics old-timer to tell you the story about "Secret Wars I." Then step out of range and ask them about "Secret Wars II.")"

LOL. Tell me about it. I was there. Waitaminute! Old-Timer! Whyioughta! ;) I remember Secret Wars I rocking the hizouse and then Secret Wars II just deflating the sails. I can't even comment on how bad SW2 sucked because I didn't go much past the first couple of main issues (and to hell with the massive crossovers).

In AMV news, Spike vid is still progressing. Not sure if it'll be done any time soon, but it's reached the near 1/2 way point. Woo hoooooo!
  • As promised... 2002-05-06 12:37:53 Here's the ultimate Spider-Man fan. Please be kind. I *was* eight, after all.

    Everyone was envious. Honest! ;)

  • Arrrrrrghhhhhhhh 2002-05-06 01:01:49 Just worked for about an hour making this 5 second clip work. I had to find loops for Andy and Spike facing off on the rooftop in the wind (not easy, because they were *TALKING* to each other [jerks]), then horizontally flip the Andy clips so they'd be standing in almost the exact same spot, then find the prominant beats in the scene and hit/crossfade them off for emphasis.

Then quickly render the scene out and notice that THE FUCKING BACKGROUND WAS MOVING SLOWLY IN THE CLIPS.

So now all I see is jittery sky.

    AUGH!

But the character part looks perfect.

Anyone know how to cut mattes in Premier? Email me: monolithgrp@earthlink.net

    PLEASE.
  • Movin' right along. 2002-05-05 03:03:31 Dum da dum, dum da dum, dum da dum, barefoot and fancy free!

The Spike vid is moving right along. Ripped bunches of panning, exploding, and Spike's been shot! goodness from ep 26 today. Incorporated some of it in vid. I've realized that I'm at least 1/3 done with the vid now. Hopefully more after tomorrow.

I timed out some of the blank spots, and thankfully, those don't require hellish/hectic editing. Pretty much fade up on a scene, fade out. Repeat. It should help me finish the video that much faster. Not that I have any deadlines, mind you, and furthermore, I have no *idea* how I'd even host this until such a time when Phade can get hosting for the cheap on this site, but it'll be done within the next month, I'd wager. Then I guess I'll worry about finding a way to get people to watch it.

But back to the long, easy sections vs. the quicker editing sections: It's a nice "texture" break from the hectic editing from the quicker paced sections. I know texture's the wrong word for it, but I can't describe it any other way.

I have to have different textures with everything in my life. Even food. Can't stand just eating soup. Must have crackers with soup. Can't eat a plate full of one kind of food (except maybe Kraft Macaroni and Cheese), either. Must have some kind of variation. Like, a sandwitch must have some sort of side, like chips. A plate full of meat must also have a vegetable of some sort. At least stir-fries have a large variety of textures combined into one. But now that I think of it, casseroles do not count as multi-textured. SWEET JESUS I'M RAMBLING. Must. Not. Post. When. Tired.

Oh, and I saw Memento tonight! Here's my review:

What? Or. Movie. Good. A. That. Was. Shit. Fucking. Holy.

Figure it out. Then go see the damn brilliant movie. It deserved some awards.
