Saw Lord of the Rings yesterday. 0_o WOW.
You know CGI is good when you don't see it. Ironic, but true. After I got done watching it, I realised that the Hobbits were really people shrunk down digitally to look Hobbit-sized. The dwarf was John Rice Davies!!!! The big fat guy from Indiana Jones! 0_0
Amazing film.
All I have to say is I wish I was Lagolas.

And at home, but that's probably better left for a different journal entry.
The cool thing is that I got the entire Bebop CD Sessions for Crimmas. Well, almost the entire collection. I got eps #1, 2, 3, 3, 4, and 6. Whoops. Looks like mom and the wife didn't coordinate properly. No biggie. A trip down to Suncoast Video and I'll swap a #3 for a #5.
Didn't get the DVD/CD-R drive, but that's no biggie either. I'm going to run out first thing in January and pick one up. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up. They're *so* choice. (obscure reference).
So hopefully I can get started on those two vids soon. Of course, I'm getting AMV fever since I can't work on the ones I'd like to do yet and thought "Wouldn't it be cool if I did a fun vid for Faye/Bebop to She's Crafty (Beastie Boys)?" I'm sure it's been used for other anime before. I think I saw one when I was looking for used music awhile back. I'll have to dl them at work and check them out to make sure I'm not stepping on any toes.
I also got a way cool cel phone from the wife that uses voice recognition to dial your numbers for you. I'm all about getting my Patrick Stewart Captain Picard impression on and yelling "Computah! Call Numbah One!" Of course it just beeps at me and asks "Did you say: 'Call Mom'?" ::sigh:: ;)
Oh, and if someone knows where the Ammunation is in Stauton Island in Grand Theft Auto 3, could they please email me instructions to it starting from your garage in Stauton Island? Because I can't find it anymore.

Was listening to some bitchin' swing era Christmas Music today while we finished wrapping presents. Why is it music will never be as cool as traditional swing era music? I'm not talking about this crap swing revival stuff that was a flash in the pan. This stuff is OLD. It makes me wonder if I like the music, the poor recording levels, or some weird combo platter of the two.
The other good stuff I got to hear was a Christmas special with The Chieftans in it. That's another untapped source of phenomenal music. If you haven't heard of The Chieftans, get thee to a record store and check them out. I don't care if you don't like Irish music, and don't give me none of this "Bagpipes Suck" routine, either. Because A). they're not bagpipes, they're Ulean pipes, and B). you're listening with the wrong ear. Traditional Irish music stirs my soul and makes me feel like a giddy eight year old again. I don't know if it's in my blood or what. I just live for it. No guitar solo will ever be able to beat a good Irish jig on a fiddle. Even Satan couldn't beat it (obscure reference).

So at any rate, Christmas is coming (the goose is getting fat, penny, man's hat, haypenny, not got haypenny, god bless you). I'm bummed that Christmas is on a Tuesday and I have to go back to work on Wednesday. Why couldn't Christmas be *today* (Sunday) so we could all play with our toys and DVDs and new clothes, books, whathaveyous for a couple of days. It's going to be like "Hey, neat, thanks! Gotta go!" :(
Keep all fingers, toes, and major/minor appendages crossed that I get that DVD/CD-R player for the PC and the complete Bebop collection so I can get cracking on these vids.
