Only have a minute...

...between load times for my software, so I'll make this quick.
Just read part two of the DK2 saga, and I'm still a bit disappointed. I guess I shouldn't be throwing stones seeing as I've never published any form of comic book ever, but the pacing still feels way too rushed, and then other things which should have been given a page or two max are given free reign of 4 or 5 pages.
And I still feel like he's just rehashing all of the side-stories. There's stuff in this one that seems cool until you realize that it's been done before (I'm talking here about the very last page of the book). The main plotline is cool, but I think the art and color are still sub-par for him *and* Lynn Varley.
I've been feeling a lot of melancholy with my favorite subjects like this for quite awhile. Ep 1. DK2. Neither one lived up to the hype. Is it a case of both of the originals were so strong that they couldn't be outdone? Is it a case of "you can never go back?" Maybe I just remember these things from my childhood being better than they were because of my lack of perspective at the time. Or maybe these new things just aren't cutting it. Maybe I'm jaded. Who knows.
Oh, and I just have to say that Lara is a very cool idea for a character. Not a spoiler. You'll see soon enough.

They've come to take me away ha ha to the funnyfarm where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their plain white suits they're coming to take me awayyyyyyyyyyy.....

I'm going to be away for a few days. I might post, but it's doubtful. I'll probably only have time to read them.
I just found 36 more animations that need fixing before Friday morning. This means that my already hellish 12 hour workday just turned into 14-16 hour workdays. I might just sleep here at work. This means I don't have a change of clothes untill Friday morning. At least there's a shower.
I'll probably be hallucinating by then, so it won't matter anyway.
See you all in a few days.

This has just been a day full of WRONG and disturbing things.
First, way too much Linkoln Park or however they spell their name on the radio. I would have liked them if they weren't OVERPLAYED so much. The music's good, but it's not THAT good. And now I associate it with mediocrity, so there's that.
Second, I stumbled into one of our lead artist's office today, and she was texturing the alien special model for our soccer game. To make a short story long, it's easier to use human skin to get the texture mapping right, and then tweak the gamma to make it green or whatever color you want. So I asked her where she was getting these incredible references from, and she says "you don't want to know." I immediately think gay porn sites (because the model has a naked arse), but she says it's "worse." How can anything be worse than that, you ask? How about PRO-anorexia sites. Or Pro-Ana as they like to call it. Thank [insert preferred diety name here] that geocities and other free homepage sites are shutting them down, but I saw some pretty disturbing pics and diaries from the ones that were left. You wouldn't even know that they're *girls* to look at these pics. The diaries claim that Britney Spears is *fat*. Newsflash ladies: if the picture of your back where your ribs are showing is being used for an emaciated alien skin in a video game, it's time to eat a sammich.
Third, the idea of Ed and Faye having sex with Ein thrown into the mix. GAH! ::poking out eyes with pen:: Thank you for that horrific vision. The guilty party knows who they are. Let my blindness rest on your conscience ;)
Good note: only four more days of 12 hour workday hell and I get to start ripping footage for the Bebop vid.

You are not the car you drive. You are not your fuckin' khaki's.

So it turns out that the insurance company is going to take the claim. We only have to pay the $250 deductable. My car's going in for three days, and then hers the day after. I bet the guys who work there will snicker/roll their eyes when they figure out that my wife and I have matching silver Civics. Hers a '00 hatch DX and mine a '99 coupe HX. We're pretty sad that way ^^;
It's such an incredibly beautiful day outside. I wish I didn't have to spend it inside at work. It's about 60 outside. In January. In Chicago. This hasn't happened in...ever.
I'm really getting jazzed to start this video. I'm picking up copies of Premier and After Effects today (hopefully), so I'll have to take two passes at it. One first in Premier to get all the cuts in the right places, and then a pass in After Effects to get all of the effects I need. This is going to take MONTHS. I can't wait to get started. ::jumping up and down like small child in toy store::
At any rate, I hope everyone's having a great day. Oh! And check this play out if it's in your area. It's not coming to Chicago :(

Take me to the place I love. Take me all the way.

The car goes in for the estimate tomorrow.
::fingers x'ed so tight it hurts::
We may have to file a claim on this one. After getting home and looking at the damage, it looks more like it's going to be a thousand or two. Fixing cars is so stupid expensive.
The part that makes me so upset is that it was just a dumb mistake driven by rage, and we *just* got her car fixed (it was nearly totalled in October when a girl turned in front of Liz). It's like some twisted never ending nightmare of car repair.
But this time we have to pay for it. Argh.
Hopefully I can get all of this shit (my car being repaired [a guy hit me back in December], her car being repaired, and this job deadline) behind me soon so I can get back to playing games and doing art. And stop whining about it like a baby here.
