EK: For yeah! Original animation rules. Let me know if you want help doing the animation. Because I'm like *dying* to animate something. I tend to not animate if it's just for me. Professional animator offering services for free! Please please please please please let me help. If all that's holding you back from finishing the vid is doing original animation, let me be your outsource studio! :)
I need to animate some stuff for my Bebop vid as well, but it's only a couple of short things. One should prove to be extremely funny (albeit unintentionally), and I know people will want some of the original art from it. So I'll be holding a giveaway bonanza for that stuff.
Now if I could only download the friggin' rip tools I need. DVDdecrypter needs a certain file that I could only find at one site online, and that site is temporarily down >_<

Heard that song being played during the Olympics. Now, don't get me wrong, I like that kind of music. On occasion. But um, is that whole Limp Bizkut/Linkoln Park "bizness" *proper* for the Olympics? Sure, it's perfect for the Xgames. But the Olympics? The Olympic theme just doesn't go well with California Neo-Punk/Grunge. Why in the hell does NBC feel they have to Mtv the Olympics 47 percent?
Is seeing halfpipe snowboarding not cool enough? Or how about freestyle mogul skiing? Oh, and here's a tip NBC: If you're going to attempt to get the Mtv crowd to watch your games, don't get whitebread announcers who've never seen 'extreme' sports. For the love of GOD, get some that know how to announce for the event. No joke, at one point a female announcer who sounded like the stereotypical white person (picture Eddie Murphy doing his 'white guy' bit) said, and I nearly quote here:
"Wow, that was a very fat air, and by that I mean that she was very high above the ramp."
::smacking head on table:: Just. Because. They use. The terms. Doesn't. Make. Them cool.
But watching that 18yr old kid from Sweden or Switzerland or wherever win the 90m skijump was *awesome*. I love the Olympics. I don't even really care who wins. I just love the idea of watching all of these people from around the world pour their hearts and souls into this one singular moment. That kid was *happy*.
Not having a very creative weekend. Took me an entire day to figure out why the DVD drive wasn't working (you just can't leave unclosed session CD burns in the tray, evidently), and did a very WRONG drawing that just felt right on an Oekaki board. The worst part wasn't the content, rather, it just sucked artisticly speaking.
I've got tomorrow off so hopefully I can at least get the software/drive up and running to rip this footage. I'm beginning to think that the first vid is *never* going to happen.

Had a nightmare last night that Acen2K was this weekend, and I didn't have anything to show. It's not even that I didn't have anything to show. It's that I had also scheduled visits with friends and other things to do this weekend, thereby leaving *no* time for con. I had nothing to show last year, and I was *supposed* to have something to put in fanan/amv but I quit the job where I was working on it, and it got shelved. Which is sad, because it was *way* freaking cool, and there's no way I could finish it by myself even if they gave me all of the scenes back to work on. There's like 80 backgrounds. I can't even paint ONE background. I wouldn't even know where to start.
I think it's creative anxiety. Work isn't very creative, and I've been playing video games rather than doing creative artwork lately. I might as well have been having one of those "naked in class when you have to give a speech for your final exam (which you didn't bother preparing for either) in front of the class" nightmares. ::shudder::
Dear Brain: I get the point. Will start in earnest on video this weekend. Honest. No more nightmares about missing the one con a year that I can make. I'll rip the audio this weekend. I'll start ripping footage this weekend. I'll even try editing some of the intro this weekend. I. Swear. To. God.

It's a beautiful day.

KZ: You make some totally excellent points re: DK2 vs. DKR ("totally excellent"? Who am I, Bill or Ted?). I think you're right that what sets DKR apart is that it was groundbreaking and monumental. Which is exactly why I feel like this is a cheap sequel. The very reason why DKR was made (Batman being a joke) is the same reason why DKR is unecessary (Batman is *not* a joke now). It feels like it's just a comic cash cow.
My main beefs are that the art and story just feel so rushed. I really can't talk about the story being rushed without throwing a gajillion spoilers out, so I'll just bring up a specific point about the art. I almost threw the first issue aside when ::SPOILER::
Upermansay was getting the tar beat out of him by Atmansay.
The drawings weren't just uninspired. They were hideous. Take a second (this tone should not be read as lecturing :) and look back at the two page spread (I think it's two pages, anyway) where Upermansay's gettin' punched by Atmansay's uberglove. It looks like it was scribbled. I thought they looked bad then, but then I was thumbing through (mind you, I didn't read it) an interview with FM regarding the new series, and there were drawings from the first DKR in there. They make the new DK2 art look downright atrocious by comparison. I can't believe how much he's gone to pot since then. I think DKR was inked by Klaus Janson (not sure about that) and that might have something to do with it, since he inked his own stuff here, but I think even his Sin City stuff was more carefully drawn and inked than this DK2 material.
At any rate, I'm not saying that everyone should feel the same way I do. Everyone's free to like it or not. I like it. I just don't love it like I feel like I should. I'm one of his biggest fans, and if it weren't for him I wouldn't even walk into a comic store nowadays. I guess I just expected too much out of this one.

Nothing much to say.

Just that I've started by writing out the lyrics to the song I'm using, so I can watch footage and make notes as to what footage goes where. Ugh the ripping part is going to be soooo arduous. I also have to find a ripper that seems to work.
I nabbed DVDDecrypter but it doesn't seem to want to work. Maybe I need to have a DVD in the drive. That might help. It also might help if I wasnt' retarded. Dur.
So tired. Got whole weekend off and spent it playing games. Must. Sleep.
