Paraphrased: Go to the Sky Lounge if you're a tool.

EK: YeeEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! Wish I could have seen that one.
Now I see why you're sweating the Sky Lounge. I say go as the most colorful goth/anime fangirl you can. Shock the living fuck out of them. Dye your hair Blue, wear electrical tape wrapped around your forearms like the Crow, put on some of the most shocking Dominatrix black patent leather you can find, huge ass-kicking boots, thick eye shadow/liner, and bring a whip.
See if anyone gives you any grief, then. ;)
In other news, Liz got the axe at work today. She didn't sound too sad, but I think that's because they all knew it was coming, and were probably drinking heavily at lunch. "Whad ahr they ghunna dhoooo, fshire ush?"
She said that there's a silver lining in it, so I'm hoping that someone has a job lead kinda lined up for her already. She said she couldn't talk about it at work, so it can't be a severence package.
I know I keep threatening to throw that animation up on my webpage, and I'll do it within the next three days.
PROMISE.

If I wasn't so STUPID, I'd stop reading the acronym KoHD as "King of the Hill."
Like *anyone* would make a King of the Hill MV.
*beats self about head with blunt object*
Of course, I'll probably *never* get that out of my head now.
Speaking of KoHD, I saw it on sale at Mitsuwa today for $88. It had a shiny foil-like cover. Thankfully I resisted the urge to buy it since minutes later I got the call from my wife telling me she thinks she's not going to have a job after Friday.
That, and the fact that I still don't have a DVD codec/software for my DVD drive installed ^^;

I'll have a Long Island on the house.

Amizadai: I'm sorry to hear about your sister's friend. I hope you and your sister find a way to make it through. I wish I had something comforting to say, but I've never had to deal with death personally. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Hope you're feeling better.
kyburg: if you're coming to Acen, we'll drink then. Otherwise, I'll have to try looking you up next time I'm out by L.A. Which so far in this lifetime has been never ;) But I'm always up for a drink with a cronie, and I need to head out to California again soon, but it will probably be northern California (where the girls are warm, so I can be with my sweet baby...stupid lousy song) since my folks and sisters live in Sacramento and I'm having a love affair with San Francisco, and there's skiing there, too. But I digress.
And I'll send you a copy of my reel, Kyburg. Just email me your snail info and I'll burn one tomorrow night and send it. I'll even put the DivX codec on the disk 'cuz I'm a pal like that ;)
So today we met Le Recruitierre for those of you following the story. Pretty nice guy. The office was fairly sparse of decorations, which makes me feel better. Nothing makes me sicker than seeing someone you know who makes fistfulls of dollars every second showing off said lavishness.
Unfortunately my friends and co-workers have like, ZERO professional skills when it comes to interviewing, even in an informal setting. I was the only guy to show up with dress shoes/shirt and khakis on and *not* be wearing a baseball hat. I was a bit perturbed. I know I get my slang on when I write here but when I'm at work, I'm at work. Especially when I'm in a situation to make a very important business contact.
So after much bitching and wailing on about the dismal state of our employment affairs (this is what happens when you talk to a friend of a friend, who was trying to be as professional as he could amidst a bunch of caterwalling children), I finally butted in and got to the straight and narrow of things. We dropped off our demo reels and agreed to talk more once he's had a chance to look them and the resumes over. Fortunately, he mentioned that there's another studio in town that might be hiring that I had forgotten even existed, so at least I might have an option should my current employer tell me to blow. The rest of the guys are looking to get out fo the state (can't say I blame them), so this studio is mine! ALL MINE! Unfortunately, they do out of house work for hire, and I don't like that. I want to continue to work for a company that makes their own product; not depend on being the lowest bidder for someone else's product.
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse for Liz today. It's all doom and gloom at her company and everyone thinks they're going to close the entire office on Friday. Right now, this suxors massively. If I get my raise, or at least what I should, it won't be nearly as massive a problem. She's taking it much better than the last time (the first and only time she's ever been laid off), but still, laid off twice from two different jobs in less than a year? SUCKS.

Just read on the Acen site that Marvel's going to have a table at Acen's Artist Alley looking at people's work scouting for their new Manga Marvel book or whatever it's called.
I'm torn between putting together a print portfolio again. I swore a long time ago after coming within a short hair of getting a job with DC's Vertigo press that I wasn't going to pursue comics again. But
A). I need an excuse to draw lately.
and
B). I'm a glory hound.
On the other hand, there's going to be dead-ringers in there before me. Christ, the Moy Boys are probably going to be sitting at the table right next to them, along with their friend WC or whatever his name is. All three of them have comic publishing experience already, and I know the Moys do (Hentai) fan doujinshis (or however it's speeled). Then there's all the other talented artists who are already going to be attending.
Hell, I'll see if I can crank out a few pages of sequential pencils in the next few weeks. I might as well, since I don't have the time (or skills right now) to do an AMV. Although I'd rather just do Painter covers, but god knows they never hire people just for covers. You have to be a rock star already to get cover work.

Premiere!!!
I shouldn't complain, though. It's a snap to use. Just finished the final version of my reel tonight. It's rendering now. For like the THIRD TIME. First time was my fault. I didn't have two clips bumped up against each other, so I had one of those black strobe moments. Whoops!
Second time was the accursed processor hogging Premiere. While it was rendering, I forced it to show my desktop, and then tried dialing my ISP so I could register CuteFTP and upload a bunch more of my old M7 concept art to my website so the recruiter can see them tomorrow. Didn't like that too much. "Fie on you! Fie on your multitasking! I quit!" Whoops!
So I'm now rendering the "final" version of the reel for like, the third time. I'm definitely going to throw up some clippage onto my website. I may try and fit the whole first section, which is just rendered mocap moves set to some music. If it's less than about 6 or 8M I can swing it for awhile (Hope you have your DivX codec installed!). I only have 10M worth of space on my site >_<. Hopefully I can remedy that soon enough, with an official website home for Ten Pin Productions. Someday.
Argh. I'm going to be up all night! I still need to throw all of my artwork and the DivX codec onto that disk with my reel, too. ARGH.
