Ninety eighth entry - Melancholy Activity
2006-02-19 14:48:08
Time - 1:36, Noise - the song for my next AMV...
Oh fuck. I'm writing in my journal. There go my chances for being popular. I don't expect most people to know what I'm referring to with that comment - just know that you're supposed to laugh. ~_~
Yeah...so I finally imported all 66 clips I'll need for my next video. It didn't take that long, actually, since they're all less than two minutes long (videogame stuff, naturally). The clips aren't quite the quality I wish they were, but I'll make do with it. This should be a fun video, both to make and to watch. It's a step out of my normal bounds (that being drama/serious videos).
And damn it, shinodude, your TFK video made me cry. Now I get all misty eyed whenever I hear that song. ;_;
*sigh* I should be editing. I have the program open. I just have no motivation to lay the clips down. Gee, maybe this is why I haven't made a video in Cod knows how long (actually, I do know how long - since November).
Well, I'm off to force myself to do something, be it writing, editing, or playing a game.

Ninety seventh entry - schizophrenic conversations...

Time - 7:15, Noise - Nine Inch Nails - "The Hand that Feeds"
It's kind of irritating. Seriously. Changes *I* make to an opinion I received shouldn't set off the new/updated opinions box. All I was doing was making some opinions public on videos where I hadn't done so already. Now that damn blue box is going to taunt me and get my hopes up for the next week. GAH. >:(
...not that it honestly matters anyway. I haven't received an opinion since November - which is partly my fault for not making video since then. And even though I say I'll make another one soon, that really can't be trusted. I've been saying that for months now. Actually, I WAS making another one back in December, but the project file got corrupted and now that video is as good as gone. Sucks, too, cuz I was halfway through it. Of course, this isn't the first time I've had that happen before.
Am I the only one who finds it sad that my first video has the highest star rating of them all? (And to add insult to injury, my least favorite video of mine is second highest...) -_-
*sigh* I'm just in a blah mood right now. I should finish writing my PWP hawtness, but I'm not really up for it. Maybe I'll go finish dominating my game - which I really won't be able to pwn after I finish this mode, since it's the only one I have left. *double sigh*

If you don't feel like crying, you may very well be heartless.
Well, I'm off.

I think I've finally downloaded enough videos to make up the entire downloadable Evangelion section. Oh, wait. I've downloaded about six hundred more. You'd think I'd have gotten sick of AMVs by now, but I really haven't. I think it's because tedium destroyed my brain.
Like I said to my best friend, my brain broke while I was leveling up to take on WEAPON in Final Fantasy VII, rotted out when I beefed up in FFX, and finally just puddled on the floor in a helpless mass of goo when I did all one hundred floors of the Bevelle Underground in FFX-2 not once, but TWICE. And it's hiding under my bed while I play through Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition ten times - cuz that's the minimum amount it'll take to unlock everything.
And all along the way, I've been downloading AMVs. w00t.

Ninety fifth entry - my thumbs are sore...
2006-02-14 19:04:01
Time - 5:33, Noise - Devil May Cry - "Ending Theme"
...ow. It only took an hour and a half of my life to do, but 9999 floors of the Bloody Palace really makes your thumbs hurt. Still, I beat it and that makes me feel very accomplished. Okay, okay, so I did it with Super Vergil, but I unlocked him fair and square, so I reserve the right to use him, damn it! And besides, the clear art I got for beating Very Hard was totally worth all the trouble anyway. Of course, that's a different topic.
For those totally lost, I'm talking about Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. I own and have "owned" all of the original game, but the SE makes you start over from scratch (although having a save file from the original DMC3 does unlock some stuff.) So, that known, I took the two available characters (Dante and Vergil), and ran through Normal Mode with both of them. That unlocked Easy, so for the sake of orbs (money, essentially), and some secret missions, I went and did that mode with both of them. Then, I went and did Hard Mode with both of them. I just finished Very Hard Mode with Vergil, and now I have to do it with Dante. After that is the ever feared Dante Must DIE! Mode - which I'm going to attempt, at least.
Now, to throw a wrench into the machine, they not only give you alternate costumes for your characters, but they also offer up the coveted "Super" status. This allows you to stay permanently in DT (devil trigger) - meaning, a high powered state where everything you do is stronger and you can use some abilities not available normally. Now, I thought that I would have to complete Dante Must Die in order to unlock either characters' Super mode. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my new "costume" I unlocked after beating Very Hard with Vergil, was, in fact, Super Vergil. w00t. This will make DMD Mode significantly easier.
As for the Bloody Palace...this is a concept that was brought from the second game to the SE. Despite how easy DMC2 was, the Palace was quite difficult, because they give ENEMIES a devil trigger after a while - which also happens in the SE, but not until MUCH later. Also, the sheer number of foes you were pitted against was insane. I have never completed the Bloody Palace in DMC2; in fact, the highest floor I ever reached was 9200. So, what the Palace actually IS is this: a "dungeon" with 9999 floors that can be traversed 1, 10, or 100 floors at a time, depending on what portal you pick. You must defeat all of the enemies on each floor you enter in order to progress to the next one. While this seems like a relatively simplistic task, it becomes quite daunting when they give you certain combinations of enemies ( 3 Hell Vanguards come to mind... ;_; ), or when you realize that you are not allowed to heal with items. Thankfully, the battle arena you are given is very large, and you can isolate many of the enemies, while leaving others undisturbed and out of your way. For me, I didn't start having problems until I reached Floor 8000 and above ( I was taking them by the hundreds, if you hadn't guessed. ) Floor 9000 and above was even worse, because the enemies starting using devil triggers - essentially leveling the playing field, since I was using Super Vergil. Floor 9999 is, naturally, the final boss of the game - whom I've battled so many times now that I really didn't have any problems. Completing the Palace earned me about 80,000 orbs for all the combat, and a 100,000 orb bonus. Sweet shit.
Well, there you have it. Everything you didn't want to know about Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Tune in next time for Professor Ultima's discussion on why twincest is hawt.
See you around, kiddies! <3

Ninety fourth entry - Capturing madness...
2006-02-10 21:30:41
Time - 8:06, Noise - Tsubasa OST (Future Soundscape I) - "Voices Silently Sing"
It's official. I have 24.3 GB of captured footage on my hard drive now. I just spent the last few hours at my computer, watching soundless video stream while I tapped a few keys every once in a while to separate the scenes. Thank Cod that the game I'm using has a cutscene viewer option.
My only real trouble so far seems to be that I'm still getting dropped frames, despite following all of EADFAG's suggestions for eliminating that. I'm not terribly worried about that right now, since it is only my first AMV with captured footage. Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself. I don't even know a good song to use. I'm itching to make my first action video, to be honest. My one good idea for it requires more than just the game I'm using now, though, so I think I'll hold off on that until I've managed to complete one video like this. If I get all this to work fine, then I'll finally do my Fatal Frame II video that I've been wanting to get at for a long time now.
You know, I'm not sure why, but a while ago, I had the idea of doing a CLAMP tribute. Between my best friend and I, we own enough of their anime to make that work. But I haven't a clue what song I'd use. Probably something in a foreign language, so I wouldn't have to worry so much about lyrical sync - not that that's a bad thing. In fact, I really love videos that match lyrics even when they're in a foreign language. I just don't really want to do it myself. It'd be more of an abstract thing. Hell, if Bakadeshi could get away with it in "Zetsumo," then I can too.
Now that I have some means of getting footage, I find that I'm becoming more interested in AMVs again - creating them, that is. My apologies to all of you unfortunate enough to download my work. Yeah, I still use WMM2, but I'm really starting to push that thing to its limits anymore - and I'll shamelessly admit that much of my newfound inspiration is coming from Aria Uchiha's recent videos. For some reason, I just wasn't thinking about editing the way she does. However, now that I realize what can be done with that program, despite its limitations, I have a renewed interest.
My Air video will unfortunately be put on hold (although I would still like to thank sto - he knows why). I just don't think I can pull off the idea with WMM2. No amount of pressuring is going to get that thing to do what I want for that video.
Beyond my recent spurt of creativity - and obvious hatred for the world around me, as you all witnessed in my last entry - life has been boring. AFF is down, so I can't submit any of my fanfics for now. Not that it matters much. I haven't finished anything recently.
So, my days have been largely spent playing Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. And, of course, I'm getting a kick out of playing around with my new CodeBreaker. Although, I would have preferred the PS1 Breaker. The PS2 one is fun anyway.
Oh, and Vertical Tetris Attack - excuse me, Vertical "Puzzle League." Play that and Vertical Dr. Mario once, and trust me, you'll be hooked. That's hours of mindless entertainment right there.
*sigh* I think...I'm not sure what I think. I ought to do something right now, but I'm a little burned out from all that capturing. I'll probably watch more anime. I've been on a yaoi hunt lately, and I've managed to snag myself a number of titles. That ought to keep me occupied for a while.
Nighty night, folks.
