One hundred thirty third entry - success at last~!
2006-04-22 14:21:49
Time - 12:44, Noise - Hybrid - "Finished Symphony"
Well, it's official. I managed to successfully rip a Playstation 2 videogame. Really, it wasn't that hard. Castor Troy's guide is extremely clear and to the point. Sure, it was time-consuming; I spent the better part of my night (and some time this morning) doing it, but the process is simple. Basically, you just keep converting a file to another file and to another one and another and so on until you end up at a Huffy'd .avi.
But now that I know I can do that, I should try ripping an anime DVD. My hard drive should be okay with that, since I'm only gonna test one DVD. All of the tests with ripping and VDub and Avisynth and what have you have been really draining the poor thing. I started with about 200 out of 250 gigs (the other 50 having been eaten up by transferring the data from my old hard drive). And now...between all of my ripping and me discovering the joys of torrenting, I'm down to a mere 34.1 GB. *sigh* Guess that means I have to start deleting stuff. Once I get some DVDs, I'll burn some stuff, too. Mostly, I'd like to burn the scenes that I rip as Huffies, so I don't have to bother ripping them all again.
Eeegh. Gettin' distracted. People keep messaging me. Anyway, I just wanted to express my joy at finally getting my PS2 ripping endeavours to work. Now, I'm off to play Kingdom Hearts II~!

One hundred thirty second entry - this is just stupid...
2006-04-18 23:30:20
Time - 10:23, Noise - Sevendust - "Angel's Son"
I meant to add this to my last entry, but I'll say it here as long as I'm thinking of it.
....we need to get derobert over to www.adultfanfiction.net. Seriously. The site has been down for two months now with no relief in sight. In fact, no updates at all, even from the admins. Moreover, they were trying to give the writers a partially-working site, which really just means "BROKEN." I don't want a half-working site. I don't mind waiting several months if it means the site will be in tip-top shape when it's finally 'reassembled.' I just hate going through that stupid thing everyday, hoping that it might be up.
I tell you. It's great that the server was being moved to a more lenient, cheaper host for them, but they need to get their act together. Giving us a broken site was not the answer.
Of course, I visit the site less and less frequently now (due to this issue), but it still grates on my nerves. The only *really* public place I can post my mature stories, and now it's temporarily fucked - no pun intended.
Derobert, man...we need a few more of you running around the internet... ~_~

One hundred thirty first entry - pressure...
2006-04-18 23:07:31
Time - 9:51, Utada Hikaru - "Passion (Japanese)"
Urgh... I've had a pressure in my head for two weeks now. I'm not sick or anything, but I'm beginning to wonder if something really is wrong. It's probably just partly due to the weather change, with dehydration making up another big part of the problem.
Damn. I just had the craziest AMV idea pop into my head today - I mean, it was REALLY vivid. It would take so many effects that I can't do with WMM2 - actually, I'm not sure that I could do them at ALL, short of some serious Photoshop work. So, it could be done, but only with tons of time and patience. This song is so perfect, though~! And the source is a natural choice, at least in my eyes.
Uh...well, I guess there's no point in ranting about it, because I don't intend to elaborate on what the idea IS. You might have noticed that if you read my entries closely. I always say I have an idea, but I never say WHAT that idea is. There's a reason for that. Every AMV idea I've ever shared, I've jinxed myself out of doing. : / Needless to say, this is a disturbing pattern, so I stopped sharing my ideas. With any luck, I'll put out a kickass AMV sometime in the future because of that.
Maybe.
I hope.
With that said, I really ought to attempt ripping something soon. I said I was going to a night or two ago, but I lied. I went straight to Kingdom Hearts 2, just because I was that eager to start it.
Speaking of KH2... if you play this game, know that having played the first one is nearly a must. Playing Chain of Memories isn't as necessary, but it helps. If nothing else, just get someone to show you the opening cutscene, dude. It's freakin' awesome. I just love how it's done. And although the song isn't at all what I was expecting, it really is befitting to the game - even though it might not seem like it upon first listening to it.
So yeah...moral(s) of the story: AMV ideas are best kept to one's self until completion, DVD drives are there for using, not looking pretty, and Square is a fucking CG GOD. *nod nod*
With that, I'm off. Things to see, people to do... and a mind-bending, horrific (when aren't they?) Mary Sue fanfic to write about it!

PS: Mary Sue... *shudderPUKEwhimper*

One hundred thirtieth entry - teh w00t
2006-04-16 19:36:44
Time - 6:17, Noise - Day of Fire - "Through the Fire"
Huh...I come back from April Break, only to find that the forum is broken. Did you all miss me that much...? : /
Overally, I considered this to be a very productive weekend. I took my mom out for dinner for her birthday, got Kingdom Hearts II, started showing my best friend Fatal Frame III, read the Devil May Cry comics that she managed to get off of eBay for $0.99, maxed out my score in Tetris Attack (and just kept on going o_O ), got the anime boxset I've been wanting so much, and last, but not least...
****I GOT A FRICKIN' DVD DRIVE~!****
...yeah. So I'm happy. DVD drive, music, anime, editing concept, general storyboard, and now... all I need are two more components. A better editing program and... the technical knowledge to put it all together. If I can do that, I may just be able to make my dream video. Beyond that, it's all just a creative matter - and for once, I have total faith that I can pull it off. I doubt I'll be able to finish a video in time for my birthday (which would make it one full year since I released a full length video), but it's a start. And Cod damn it, I'm happy just to have made it this far.
With the exception of the nearly suicidal drive back here (rain, rain, RAIN), I'm elated to be back on campus again. This is where I get everything done, and I don't know how I'm ever going to survive three months at home during the summer now. I guess I'll manage, though. My brother has offered me all four Onimushas as time killers, and I'm perfectly content to play them. I might still be caught up in Kingdom Hearts II at that point, but I'm sure I can do other RPG challenges while I wait for the months to pass - single character scenarios, no magic, stuff like that. I just did a low level FFVIII file, which is uber easy in that game, since you don't need to level up. Actually, with the exception of a few enemies, being on a low level is a LOT easier than being on a high level. You can still easily get all of the skills and powerful magic in the game, and since enemies level up as you do, your stats end up jumping high above theirs, making you an invincible force. But I digress. The point is, I'll have plenty to keep me busy - and when that gets boring, my friend will be there as entertainment.
So, I need to go now. I'd like to start playing with my DVD drive and trying to rip stuff. In an hour or two, I'll probably start Kingdom Hearts II.
See ya~! <3

One hundred twenty ninth entry - pointless stats?
2006-04-11 18:28:38
Time - 5:05, Noise - Day of Fire - "Rain Song"
You know...I've been writing a lot of quick comments lately...which tells me that I've been downloading a lot of videos at random. Well, not all of them are random - I've seen a number of announced ones that have perked my interest lately, too.
I've wanted another really good fanfic to read lately, too...I haven't found any really, so I re-read one of my favorites. There was this pair of authors who wrote these terrific X and Tokyo Babylon stories, and I've read all of them several times. I went back to one of my favorites (all 26 chapters of it) and read it again over about two days. During that same duration of time, I also read the latter half of my X mangas (that being volumes 11-18). You know, I don't know what changed, but CLAMP's illustration looks so gorgeous in 16-18. I mean, it's not that much different from previous volumes, but everything just looks smoother and more detailed. It's really wonderful art - makes me wish that they'd finally get on with the next volume. I mean, they just stopped writing the series all of a sudden. It was weird. I would kill to see the conclusion of X, cuz it's not supposed to be like how the movie OR the series ended. If nothing else, I just wanna see more beautiful illustrations.
Well, this is my pointless stats entry, so I'd best get on with it...

So yeah...my stats kinda suck, actually. It's to be expected, though. I don't come out with videos on a regular basis, and I don't go out of my way to pimp them after they've been out for more than a few weeks. I usually hit each of them with an opinion exchange thread, but I'm reluctant to do that anymore, since it always takes me so long to get around to writing an opinion. (For those of you who are still waiting on me, believe me, I have NOT forgotten...hell, jubjub2's "Renegade" video is still sitting prettily in my stars list - and on my hard drive - just to make sure I DON'T forget it ever.) I'm not reliable. I know that. I'm downright flighty at times. But that's what makes me ME, and I'm not gonna change, I suppose.
With those last somewhat uplifting thoughts, I'm out of here. Gotta get ready for band soon. o_O
