  • One hundred forty first entry - looming exam o_o;; 2006-05-17 00:19:49 Time - 11:12, Noise - some Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite stuff...

Wow... the mods are really being a bunch of fucktarts lately. They're letting Beowulf get away with murder and deleting any post that actually tries to call him for what he is. Oh well. I'm not going to bother posting on that thread. I already got one post deleted on it, and I thought the topic was pretty fucking pointless anyway.

Nah, I'm not in a bad mood. Actually, I'm just oddly content now. Kinda tired from the last two hours of studying I've been doing, though - but I gotta get back to it. This zoology final is going to be a killer, and I can't afford to do bad on it. I'm getting up a little early tomorrow to run through my notes one last time as well, so hopefully that'll help.

    Wish me luck. ^_^

Oh, silly mods, you make me giggle. Angrily. But since I have to do some hardcore studying for a ridiculous zoology final, you're off the hook from my ranting this time. ^_^

On a completely different note, ten days 'til my birthday. w00t.

  • One hundred thirty ninth entry - ACen 2006-05-10 01:14:59 Time - 11:07, Noise - Goldfinger - "99 Red Balloons"

Well, I'm back from ACen. I was back yesterday, actually, but I was too busy doing all sorts of other internet (and real life) updates that I didn't get around to my .org journal 'til now. So, here's my ACen report...

First and foremost, if you saw this lovely young lady wandering about...

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/dj_ultima_the_great/DSC00095.jpg

...then you probably saw a blonde chick walking with her. That was me. The one cosplaying (as Heather from Silent Hill 3 in her Princess Heart costume) is my best friend Nicole (known as DDRzukamori on this site). I was also with my brother Jonathan, who was dressed a light side Jedi. I wasn't cosplaying, but I was wearing a kitty hat (I believe it was the neko from Azumanga Daioh, since it was grey and had chomping teeth on it) and shades. For some cosplaying fun, feel free to check out my LJ, where I posted my favorites of the pictures we all took.

So... the general order of things went as such. We set out at six in the morning on Friday for Chicago, which I only live two hours away from, so we were able to drive. We took a wrong turn or two, but nothing major. Once we actually got IN Rosemont, we had some issues. For example, we were supposed to stay at the Holiday Inn. The age limit for making a reservation is 21, of which none of us were. Well, my brother is, but he forgot to bring his ID. Anyway, Nicole had called beforehand and they told her that she could stay there with a parent's permission, so long as her mother made the reservation. So she did. When we got there after the first day of the con, the woman at the desk told us that we couldn't stay there because we had to prove that a member of the group was 21. So, basically, whoever told us that we just had to have an "adult" make the reservations either did not know the hotel policy like he/she should have, or was just that fucking stupid. Either way, we stood at the counter for ten minutes, trying to figure *something* out. Finally, a guy behind the desk said that he thought he knew of a hotel with an eighteen age limit. Turns out, we were able to stay at the Travelodge - a crappy little motel, but it was a bed to sleep in, and hell, it was cheaper.

So, hotel issues aside, we were doing okay for the most part. When we arrived at the con, my brother had to stand in line for (literally) an hour and a half to do the registration thing, since he had decided to come at the last minute. Nicole and I were pre-regged, so we had our badges in a matter of minutes.

For a long time, we just sat in the main lobby, snapping pictures of cosplayers that interested us. Finally, at noon, they opened up the main area, and we milled about. We all ended up buying at least one art print, although the five dollars I spent on a sheet of unlamenated, unprotected computer paper was questionable. Honestly, though, I bought it more for the sake of the artist than the picture. I found my chomping kitty hat at one table and snatched it up right away. I got a few other cute chibi pictures, but I wasn't as big on the posters and prints as my companions were. I also ended up buying a "Proud to be a DDR Maniac" shirt on the first day. However, the real doozy was the tickets I got. I was probably ripped off, but there wasn't really another way I was going to get them. They were tickets for the Play concert (which is a concert full of videogame music). It's my brother's gift to me for my birthday - as the concert, in fact, falls right on it (or the day after, I don't remember.) Sixty five dollars apiece - ouch - but it'll be worth it. The catch here is that *I* had to pay for the three tickets, since my brother didn't have that much money with him that day. I had only pulled out three hundred dollars, so there went two thirds of it all in one shot. He paid me back, naturally, but not 'til AFTER the con.

We did go to the AMV showing, but since Jonathan doesn't really like anime or AMVs, and Nicole isn't an active member of the site, we ended up leaving after the first dozen videos. I wanted to go to an AMV event the next day, but we never made it to it. I wanted to go to the awards ceremony on the last day, too, but we left for home before that. In short, despite the fact that half of the reason I went to ACen was to meet some .org members, it didn't happen. I ended up not meeting a single person that I knew. Oh well. There's always next year. Maybe I'll actually consider cosplaying then.

So, I bought some more stuff on the second day, including an ever-sought-out Kurogane plushie. Oh, Nicole and I co-bought the yaoi paddle, too, so we had much fun with that.

On the third day, we didn't do anything, really. Just did a quick survey of the "market" area to see what prices had come down. I bought the first manga volume of Saikano at a slightly discounted price.

Beyond that, it was actually less exciting than I imagined. Nicole glomped many a cosplayer, but I stayed off to the side. She can pull off that sort of thing and make it seem normal. With me... well, I don't think you want to see a mound of fat mercilessly charging at you with arms wide open. That's just creepy. In the end, I only got my picture taken with one person. We gave our waitress at IHOP a twenty five dollar tip, just cuz she was... I don't know... NOT fake. She was cool.

Really... now that I think about it, it's not so surprising that I bought so little. I spent nearly all of my money on other people. o_O

Anyway, I'm sure that there are plenty of things I'm leaving out, and plenty of things that I already went into too much detail on. So, taking into consideration that I have an early class tomorrow, I'm going to head off to bed now.

    Nighty night, folks~<3 ^_^

  • One hundred thirty eighth entry - kids, the word of the day is "hypocrite!" 2006-05-03 23:54:04 Time - 10:34, Noise - Slipknot - "Vermillion Pt. 2"

I give up. Honestly. My friend came over yesterday and said he fixed the thing that was preventing me from connecting to IRC. So, I tried it again today. Still no dice.

Seriously, God, I hope you're having a good laugh up there, cuz with all of the ways you've been fucking up my life - both great and small - I'm about ready to just lay down and die. I don't even have the energy to be emo about it anymore. So go ahead. Pile on the crap, God. All of the little irritants and big crises. I'll take it all with a lifeless little grin.

Now excuse me while I go puke up the last of my humanity in the emo bucket. *gastrointestinal evacuation'd!*

PS: if you're wondering whether or not this is all some joke, to be honest, I'm not even sure myself anymore. Maybe I just find it morbidly (or perhaps ironically) amusing somehow to be depressed and ridicule emos all in the same paragraph. : /

Fuck. I think I might have overdone the emo this time. : /
