One hundred ninety sixth entry - music and rendering
2006-09-02 13:58:00
Time - 12:24, Noise - Chrono Trigger - "The Place We Knew (OC remix)"
You know, about this remix I'm listening to, it's kind of irritating. It's one of the rarities in which the remixer added her own vocals in - which is awesome. She's a good singer and all, but it's her lyrics that bug me. For the three songs I've heard her in, her lyrics are all *generic.* They're not really personal to the game. It's like a Linkin Park or Evanescence song. The words are so generic that you can apply them to just about any anime. Well, this remixer's songs are like that.
Speaking of vocals... I've wanted to sing lately. I find myself absentmindedly humming to my music these days. I used to be in my high school chorus, but after my experiences there, I decided against being in a choir in college. Seriously. I had, like, A Nightmare Teacher. I kid you not. That guy played favorites so badly - because he didn't like my *sister* (who is FIVE years older than me), he didn't like me. Also, you never knew what would set him off. He was just fucking loopy. You know what he needed? MORE CORN!
Brownie points to those who caught the reference. o_O
But yeah. I hated him. He was my only teacher that I actually hated. I got along with my other teachers really well. There was a point in my junior year that I realized that he was never going to bump me up to the concert choir. I was going to be stuck in the regular chorus forever. However, at that point, I was just in it for the four year medal - fuck the fact that I would be the ONLY senior in the regular chorus.
And so it was. I was the only senior in chorus, but I got my damn four year medal for sticking with it. Naturally, I stuck with band because I loved it, and my instructor was great. -_- As such, I'm also in band in college. If you're curious, I play the alto saxophone.
Well, music is my passion, although I phail miserably at it. I'm last chair in band, my singing is off-key, and I can't even compose a simple little tune with FruityLoops. However, like most arts I'm interested in, I keep with it just for the love of it. I guess I've just been hoping that I might get better someday.
So, I'm rendering some footage for my next video now to see how it looks. I had to burn at least one anime series off to DVD, or I might not have had enough room on my hard drive to store all sixty of the rendered clips. Basically, the original source footage took up 24 gigs on my drive. I have to allot at least that much plus about 25% more for the rendered clips. I have forty free now. That should be enough, plus any extra room I need.
Eeesh. These clips are gonna take forever. This one says twenty minutes. Well, I guess it would help if I got off of the computer and let it do its thing. But I'm not that compliant, and I don't do things the easy way.
Seeing as how I just promised some opinions... I suppose I should get around to them, yes?
See you, folks.

One hundred ninety fifth entry - finished~!
2006-09-02 00:28:13
Time - 10:27, Noise - Chrono Trigger - "Lesser Kerubic Patchwork (OC remix)"
Yay! So, I finally sat down and wrote all of my Avisynth scripts for the footage for my next video. It was a pain, but not unbearable. It just took a while. Now - unless I can figure out how to edit via scripts with Magix - I have to render the cleaned clips... all sixty of them. That's going to take for-freakin'-ever. In some twisted way, I almost miss the days of using downloaded footage. 'Twas so easy. ;_;
Oh well. If this goes well (and I have high hopes that it will), then it'll be worth it.
Damn it. I want sushi again. I'm not usually a fan of oriental food (I don't like the whole "sweet mixed with savory" thing), but I *really* like sushi now. Just had it for the first time a few days ago. They have this shrimp tempura that's absolutely delicious. Of course, I have to learn to eat with chopsticks now. They say holding them has to do with how you hold a pencil, but I hold a pencil *very* strangely. I have zero strength when picking stuff up with chopsticks. Anything heavier than a slice of a sushi roll and I'd be screwed.
*sigh* I need to pack. Can't say I'm thrilled about moving back to college, but I'm content with it. I know that once I get settled in, I'll be just as stubborn about leaving there as I am about leaving my home now. It's just this in-betweeny stage that I don't like. The last week before I move - I keep feeling like there are a lot of things that I need to do before I go. Even something as simple as, "Oh yeah. I should eat that bag of frozen mango mom bought before I go," weighs heavily on me. It's stupid, really, but it bugs me to leave things unfinished.
So, I've been running through my head what I'll be needing when I go back. Luckily, a lot of my things are already packed, because I never had to UNpack them when I came home. Although I'm bringing some games with me, I'm leaving most of my anime and manga at home. Actually, I'm leaving all of my manga. For the anime, I'm just bringing Saikano and possibly Cardcaptor Sakura, since they're both small packages. Otherwise, my computer is really all I need to entertain me for the first few weeks.
Hmm... I should see how long it takes to render a scene.
So... yeah. I'm out of here.
Nighty night, loves. <3

One hundred ninety fourth entry - gathering my thoughts...
2006-08-30 23:48:11
Time - 9:44, Noise - Chrono Cross - "CrossFire (OC Remix)"
@Jaddz: actually, you were WAY ahead of me in downloads for quite a while. (I remember seeing your posts on the forums whenever a thread came up.) The last eight hundred or so videos have all been from my mass downloading. ^_^;;
+++++++++++++++++++++++
In other thoughts, I remember something I wanted to write earlier. I've gotten eleven opinions for The Chosen Two now (I really only shoot for ten), and I've noticed a common thread of critique. They all seem to say, "I wish there would have been more lyrical sync." I can definitely understand that. Because I only had half of the scenes I wanted, my lyric sync is surely weaker. However... I didn't think it was *that* vague - but it just seems to be what everyone nitpicked. Maybe it's partly because half of the opinions came from people who hadn't played the game. Still, I'm probably just overestimating my abilities. It likely IS that vague, and I, as the video creator, am too blind to see it.
Let's see... Happy Script Writing Fun Time... hasn't happened just yet. Let's face it: it's not that interesting. I would rather be doing any number of other things than writing Avisynth scripts. Although, I do notice that procrastinating on the scripts has given me more time to mull over how I intend to edit the video. This time around, it's not as much scene selection as it is how I put them together. Ah, action videos. I haven't edited one yet due to my extreme phailure as an editor, but I can't pass this one up. If I don't put a good video on this site using that game, it's gonna drive me nuts.
By the time I finish this video, I'll be well settled into college. I'm not sure what I'll do after it. I should really figure out what my problem with the Final Fantasy X clips was. Oh well. Later. That video isn't as important for now. It's on the list of "Eh. I could do it whenever. *shrug*"
It's a little sad, though. I write down all of my ideas in a document, and change the text to red once I've finished them. I change it to green if someone else got around to it before me. I change it to blue if it's a game that I can't rip. As it stands, I have several blue titles, a few green, and, like, one red - that being my Chocobo's Dungeon 2 video. I *really* haven't gotten a lot of my ideas done. Many of them are somewhat undefined anyway - meaning, I need to think of a direction for them yet (scene selection, concept, etc). A lot of them were just on-the-fly song/anime combos... ones that seemed to fit at first, but I hadn't looked them through really well yet.
Actually, the anime that I probably have the most ideas for (besides Final Fantasy), is X. Really vivid ideas, too - and I intend to make as many of them as I can. Irritatingly, this is going to annoy the originality-seekers on the .org quickly, because a number of the ideas use Nine Inch Nails music. Gonna be kind of odd to see me come out with several X/NIN videos in a row.
Eeesh. Today is a typing day, or so it seems.
I'm hungry. : /
Nighty night, loves. <3

One hundred ninety third entry - Overture
2006-08-30 17:14:29
Time - 3:56, Noise - Snakes on a Plane - "The Theme (Score)"
My brother's being such a jerk today. I think his game is just pissing him off. Thank Cod his subscription of that stupid thing runs out soon.
So, I'm still mass downloading. I've gone through a bunch of anime, and now I'm working on Chrono Trigger. My next one will probably be Ah! My Goddess, since I haven't really watched too many videos using the new series. There's nearly eight hundred videos using AMG, but I know that I've downloaded a crapload already.
All of this downloading has really brought my video count up (but dragged my star ratings down):
You have downloaded 4232 local videos totaling 183 GiB.
Average Star Rating Given By You: 2.82
Your Star Distribution
rating count
5 = Spectacular 174
4 = Great 940
3 = Good 1407
2 = Ok 1367
1 = Suck 341
My 4's and 2's and my 5's and 1's used to be even, but then... well... let's just say that there are a lot of clueless newbies out there. There really are some gems out there, but there's an awful lot of rocks to sift through to get them. Needless to say, after I finish with AMG, I'll probably go back to the top ten percent - not that that is much better, sadly. However, it's MORE common to find good videos up there than bad ones.
Hmm... I probably won't be able to do this as much once I get back to college. I'll be moving back in on Monday.
Yergh. I had a bunch of thoughts I was going to jot down, but I seem to have forgotten them all. *sigh*
Well... see you, folks.

One hundred ninety second entry - muthafuckin' entry in my muthafuckin' journal...
2006-08-27 00:11:33
Time - 10:45, Noise - Cobra Starship - "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)"
Damn, that song is catchy. XD
For those of you who have been debating going to see Snakes on a Plane, I just have a few words to say: DO IT. Yes, it will make you giggle inappropriately. Yes, the movie's concept is entirely absurd. However, you'd might also be surprised to know that it works as a fairly *serious* movie, too. Of course, this movie is best viewed with a light heart and a group of good friends. Trust me. This movie has something for everyone, and you'll be hard pressed to find yourself leaving the theater completely disappointed.
To sum things up, yes, I went to see Snakes with a group of my friends. It was what my best friend wanted to do for her birthday (which was on Thursday), so we all got together to hang out with her today. It's one of the rare times that I get to see any of my friends anymore, so I was really happy to do it. Basically, we went to the Janesville theater to see Snakes, browsed the mall for a while, got some pizza to go, and chilled out at her house for the rest of the time. We played a board game or two while Advent Children was playing in the background. They were going to watch Silent Hill (which she had gotten as a gift), but my mother *just* bought that for me yesterday, and I told my mom that I was going to watch it together with her tomorrow. So, I left before they started the movie. I don't particularly feel like watching it basically twice in a row.
Anyway, I have about a week before I go back to school. Guess I have to start packing soon. Damn...
Well, with a Snaketacular farewell, I'll be leaving tonight.
Nighty night, BITCHES! XD
