Nevermind that. I was going to start my video today, since I finally know how to start it, but THE FIRST CLIP IN MY VIDEO IS FUCKED UP! Yes, yes - again, I could just start after that point, but I don't like not starting at anywhere other than the beginning. Now, you're probably thinking, "re-rip it, duh." Not an option. I captured it to begin with, which makes obtaining it again impossible since my PS2 is currently busted. I won't be able to capture the clip I need again for at least another two weeks (which is when I'll be going home). So, that means I can't start my video for two weeks. Terrific. One of the rare times that I feel like editing and I can't do it. I'm pretty irritated right now.
Of course, I'm even more irritated that my thumb hurts - the one I use for the space bar. And it hurts right on the side where I hit the bar. Annoying.
Oh well. If all goes well, I might be able to watch the next xxxHolic episode tonight - if my internet goes a little faster, that is. I've been waiting impatiently, since it was a cliffhanger. Naturally, I know that nothing bad will happen to the main guy, but it's just that traditional CLAMP tension kicking in. But like I've said before, xxxHolic is different from other CLAMP stuff. I can't wait for the next manga. Let's just hope that they actually keep going with it. I'll be super pissed if they drop this series, too.
Ah, somebody shoot me. I came up with an AMV idea for a series everyone has been fanboying/fangirling over lately. I mean, it was a series that I enjoyed too, but I just thought I'd never do a video for it. Certain anime are like that, you know? You like 'em, but you just never come up with AMV ideas for them. Hellsing is like that for me. And then there are other series that you seem to have a billion ideas for. X would be that one for me. The TV series, not the movie. The movie was horrible.
Actually, the series that's becoming the new X for me is Saikano. Don't know why, either. It's been quite some time since I've watched it. You'd think I'd have already passed the fangirling AMV stage a long time ago. Also, my ideas for romance videos are traditionally awful. Yet, I keep coming up with good ideas for Saikano. Oh. I think I know why I got back into it. I bought the whole manga series and read it recently. Damn, the manga is good. A lot more romance, a lot more angst, a lot more fluff, and a lot more humor. Also, it's... well, pretty graphic - in most senses of the word. I've said this many times before, but it needs a manga music video for it. I'll have to make one someday. I came up with an idea for one yesterday, but it doesn't utilize the main characters.
And... I got my refund check a few weeks ago. It's fourteen cents shy of seven hundred dollars. That'll be more than enough for me to survive the semester if I'm not able to get a job. As it is, though, I need to pull out about three hundred dollars. Sadly, that's only for clothes (why the hell does a comfortable bra have to be so expensive!?), my new PS2, and the Cardcaptor Sakura set. That right there will eat up most of what I'm pulling out. Anything else is for the odds and ends that I still need to buy. And then I get to sit pretty and not touch the rest of my funds for the duration of the semester. Damn expensive stuff. Although, I'm really hoping that my friend Jarred can help me to fix my PS2. Maybe I'll just have to pay the cost of a new part and not pay for the whole damn thing over again.
I'm bored. Hurry up, xxxHolic! AMVs are starting to bore me currently, so I'd rather not go back to mass downloading. Oh well. I'm only awake for two more hours anyway. I'm sure I'll find something to keep me occupied.
I wish I had my yaoi doujinshi here. ;_;
Nighty night, folks.

Two hundred tenth entry - more opinions...
2006-09-24 01:38:15

I've been leaving several random opinions lately. I'm sort of, halfway doing mass downloads again, and everytime I've found something that's tripped my trigger - *pop!* - it gets an opinion. Guess it has to do with my boredom as of late. Figures, though... I still haven't gotten around to the one I owe. I just have a harder time leaving ops on videos using anime I don't know. I'm always looking for storytelling, and if I'm not familiar with the story beforehand... well, it becomes a problem. I promise I'll finish it tomorrow, though. I'll do it after I wash my hair and am waiting for it to dry.
So like, my brother's birthday is on the 27th. I can't go home 'til October 7th, so I won't be able to give him his gift. But... it's a really nice gift. It might seem silly to others, but it's really meaningful between me and him. See, we had to put my cat to sleep over the summer (which a few of you might remember me writing about and mourning over). This hit my brother and me really hard. Because of my mother working two jobs, me being at college, and my brother going to move out within the year, we just can't get another cat. It couldn't be cared for properly. I would feel horrible leaving an animal alone all the time. So, when I was shopping with my sister yesterday, I found this adorable and incredibly soft stuffed cat. I figure, since I can't get him a real cat, maybe this will be good enough for a while. It might sound a little pathetic, but I couldn't stand the thought of leaving it in a bag all that time, so I took it out and put it on my bed so I could cuddle it at night until I can give it to Jonathan. I almost started crying when I first hugged it last night. I thought I would be past that crying stage by now, but... well, I guess I just really loved my cat.
On a completely different note, I finally figured out how to start my video. I knew how I would edit the video once I got into it, but I couldn't figure out how to deal with the first twenty seconds of intro music. Yeah, I guess I could have worked on other parts of the video, but I prefer to go chronologically. Also, it's a throwback to my WMM2 days, where I pretty much had to do the video in order.
Actually, after editing with Magix for a little while, I kinda miss some of the things WMM2 did. It put the simple fades at the tip of your clicker finger, which really came in handy. I haven't used effects with Magix yet, but it takes more steps to get to them. It's still on the right click for the most part, but it's just not quite the same. Also, I miss WMM2's ability to split large clips up into several smaller parts. From what I can tell, Magix can't do that - which means that I'd have to make clips with VDub if I want that ability. Granted, with videogame footage it's not a big deal to me, since those clips are all short anyway. However, I'll have to start making clips when I get to using entire anime episodes. Oh well. It's not anymore complex, exactly - it just takes more steps to get to the desired result. It's like ripping footage or downloading it. Either way, you have footage (albeit with technical differences) - it just depends on how many steps you want to take to get it.
You know, Imogen Heap (Frou Frou) and Darren Hayes (Savage Garden) need to get together and cut an album. Their voices are so similar in general style and octave that they would probably sound terrific together. Just a thought.
I don't feel tired at all. I should, but I don't. And I felt like a real pig today. There was practically nowhere to sit at brunch today (since it was campus tour days), so I pulled up a high chair with my RA and two other girls on my wing. When I sat down, they were almost all done eating and I had a HUGE plate of food with me. I can't help it. Wrong time of the month, so I am hungry as HELL. So, they had to wait, like, twenty minutes for me to chow down my mountain of brunch. Seriously. (Especially for me,) it was a lot. Two pancakes, a bagel with cream cheese, a tri-tator, two slices of bacon, a cream cheese frosting pumpkin bar and my drink. That may be average for a college guy, but it's a lot for me. Of course, I basically forced my wingmates wait for me the whole time because they're all too polite to ditch me. Makes me feel like some kinda pig. I know I shouldn't feel that way, but I do.
Like I mentioned, I went shopping with my sister yesterday. I bought a Silent Hill t-shirt (since the movie came out, I can get one of Pyra now - that being, "Pyramid Head.") Longtime fan of the games here, so I was happy to obtain that particular item. Also, I went to Wal-mart and got some durable insoles for my shoes (Cod, those things were starting to poke me really bad). I bought a few more generic t-shirts. (I can't quite make it two weeks without washing my clothes, which is inconvenient.) I got some snacks to fill my spare desk and my fridge. I forgot a few things (such as those on the "to buy" list, minus the ones I need to get over the internet).
Suppose I should end this and watch a few of those AMVs I downloaded. On one last note, though...

Two hundred ninth entry - opinions and anime
2006-09-21 16:33:54
Time - 3:11, Noise - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - "God Knows"
It's kind of depressing to leave an opinion on a video and not even get something as simple as "thanks for the op." I mean, it's especially frustrating when the person actually requested an exchange with me.
Oh, and my stats once again: 111 opinions given; 52 received
So like... I got an opinion on the video that I figured would never get one - and it kinda irked me. The person mentioned liking my sync in several parts, but gave me a one for Action/Editing Sync, as well as a one for Re-viewable. The rest of the scores were fairly reasonable, provided you're actually using the 1-10 and 5=average idea. However, those two bothered me. Giving a person a one for sync after you told them the video did have sync? And I certainly don't believe that that video "makes a good torture method."
It doesn't bug me to get low scores; it just bugs me when those scores don't match the justification given for them. Actually, it bugs me a lot more to get really high scores and people telling me the video was perfect. It's pretty obvious that that's bullshit, although perfection is in the eye of the beholder.
Hmm... I wish xxxHolic would come out faster - and Tsubasa, too. Actually, xxxHolic just left me on a cliffhanger, which makes me uber-eager to see the next episode. Tsubasa's just being slow. It's been weeks since the last episode was put out.
I guess I should get back to watching Princess Princess. I'll be doing that now... probably in between PMs. *sigh*
See you, folks.

Two hundred eighth entry - huh...?
2006-09-20 21:09:44
Time - 7:38, Noise - Sevendust - "Seasons"
I believe that the first episode of the anime Angel's Feather can be best summed up by two lines coming directly from it:
"Why do we have to fight each other?"
...and...
"What the hell is going on?"
O_O
Seriously. This anime is baffling me and making me go WTF every five seconds because a totally new and seemingly pointless plot element is being introduced. Since it is supposedly shounen-ai, I'll give it a chance, but so far it's looking to be cliche bishounen with a completely wacked story.
On that note, I'm not sure why I'm not watching Princess Princess. I guess I just like testing out new anime all the time. Usually, I watch the first episode, wait a week at least, and then I'll start picking it up again. Once I get past the four or fifth episode of any given series, I generally end up watching all of the rest of it within a few days, oddly.
Of course, watching new anime all the time is the sad reason why my hard drive is short on space. I thought that getting a 250 GB drive would have me set for a long time, but it's already been eaten up again. I really need twice that much if I want to watch anime and make music videos comfortably. Of course, I'll be burning stuff off to DVD as I go along, but I just have a hard time figuring out what I want off of the HD and what I should keep due to frequent use.
Yergh. I actually opened up Magix today, intending to start editing... and nothing happened. Well, dinner happened. And then nothing happened after that. Now I kinda have a deadline for this next video, though. If I want to submit something to my local anime club's "anything" contest, I'll need to finish this one and get working on the next one so I can have it done before December. Actually, I don't mind sharing this idea, since it's one I've suggested a few times on the forums: it's Chobits to "Roll to Me" by Del Amitri. It's a side project more than anything, so it's not something that's going to require a whole lot of planning on my part. So, after I finish the VGMV I'm on now, it'll be the Chobits video likely.
So... what to do, what to do. Oh, I know. I had two videos I wanted to pimp. I ran across them just today and I thought that some folks might be interested.
Anime: Saikano
Music: Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris"
Editor: letamoon
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=126831
It has some technical flaws, but this video makes me wish I had tried to work with WMM2 harder than I did. It just never occured to me to do editing and effects the way this person does. It's not like it's a complex style. It just makes a solid video.
Game(s): Kingdom Hearts, KH2, KH: Chain of Memories, KH: Deep Dive
Music: Ayumi Hamasaki - "Dearest"
Editor: .:Hope:.
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?vid_id=129010
Again, despite the technical flaws (no, there aren't any subtitles or logos), this manages to be an entertaining and story-driven video. It's shounen-ai for those who interpret it as such. If not, just think of it as a strong friendship - which is exactly what it is outside of Fangirl Land and back in Canon Town. ^_~
You know, I've been listening to Imogen Heap's "The Walk" a lot lately. Naturally, I blame this at least partially on Jaddz's wonderful Loveless video, but it's also just a good song. Good beat, good melody. It's the kind of music I'm into. I like vocalists like her who have slightly androgynous voices. Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden) is another example of a person with that type of voice. I find it very engaging. Very entrancing. I'd like to make a video to a song like that someday, but I haven't found any anime that really works (or a song that hasn't been used to death or already used very well.)
I think I'll end this here. I'm getting rambly.
See you, loves.

Two hundred seventh entry - tidbits, thoughts, and reminders...
2006-09-19 23:53:44
Time - 10:26, Noise - Goo Goo Dolls - "Black Balloon"
Ignore this first part. It's just a reminder for crap I have to remember to bring to college with me next time I visit home. Figure I'll notice it if I jot it down.
Insoles for my shoes
Chomp hat
Back-up chapstick
Jacket
Money box
Something to put in my fridge
PS2
Printer paper
Three hole punch
New saxophone reeds
New CCS boxset (take old one home)
Buy more burnable DVDs?
Hmm... I think that's it. I'm sure I'll remember something else, though.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So, some random musings that have just come to mind lately.
Something you'd almost only see on amv.org (got it from a vid description): "Ugh, if I have to tune one more guitar collision..."
Tsubasa's coming out really slowly...
Damn you, xxxHolic, give me my spider episode!
Need to get my PS2 fixed or replaced. Since I figure the cost will be about the same either way, I'm leaning towards replacement.
Considering joining the forum of my local anime club. The .org forum is the only one I'm a part of now, so I'll have to adjust, I suppose.
Had my first day of band today. w00t. I'm last chair, but I wanted second part anyway (and I actually asked for last chair to ensure this). My audition probably didn't go too hot either. I hate auditions. Just put me where you think I go, for Cod's sake.
Took my first math test of this class today. It had a lot of those irritating "curve balls" that professors like to throw you *only on the fucking tests.* Drives me nuts. I probably didn't get an A. Oh well. Math has never been my strong suit.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Video musings...
Been seriously considering what to do after this. I thought it would be THE video, but now I'm not so sure. It's almost guaranteed to be either anime or another video to the game I'm using now. No *other* game videos for a while after this. I think.
Came up with the unthinkable today: a *serious* video to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I mean, it's really serious. And it really works. Crazy. Never thought I'd want to do a Haruhi video. I would like to do that as a side project, but I'm lacking the hard drive space for it. Should probably burn more stuff off. So I do need more DVDs. Fuck.
Been seeing a lot of well-edited Hellsing videos lately. Has it gotten popular again?
Also, been seeing a lot of videos with almost inappropriate lipsync. Have also seen some with extremely good and well-placed lip as well, but the majority have been strange.
Decided that I have to do a dirty yaoi AMV someday in the distant future. I haven't even done a shounen-ai video, and I'm a complete and utter fangirl. It's almost shameful.
Finished downloading all of the Local top ten percent, save the ones I couldn't get due to the ban or other reasons. Still don't care if one of my videos ever makes it up there. In fact, I'm expecting they won't due to the less popular games I tend to use (and all of my Final Fantasy videos are early ones that suck.)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I should probably end this entry. Yeah. I think I'll do that.
See you, folks. z_z
