    Just killing some time before I leave for my anime club and my class (band). So, like, I seem to be adding one clip a day to my video. At this rate, my "quickie" project will only take... eight months.

    I think it's because I've been getting the urge to write again. Oddly, it would seem that I am unable to edit a video while writing a story, and vice versa. Kind of a strange phenomenon there. Phenomenon? I think I spelled that right. I would check, but it's too hot today, so I'm lazy as hell. I avoid doing anything and everything on days like this. Logically, I could skip band, but since we're pretty much still sight-reading, that would be a bad move. I would miss a huge portion of the learning of the piece.

    On a different note, I'm kinda sad. I don't know why, but as of late, I've wanted to be a part of a multi-editor project. Unfortunately, there aren't any that catch my interest, and the ones that kinda interested me are too far underway at this point. Hopefully, someone will come along soon and start up something I'll like - and hopefully by then, I'll have solidified my DVD-ripping abilities. Still don't have that process down yet. It's a lot harder than ripping videogames. ;_;

    So. Yeah. Hm. So hot. I don't want to leave yet. But I think there's air conditioning in Doudna Hall. It should still be on. I'm not sure what point in the year they turn off AC and turn on the heat. I do know that the heat doesn't get turned off 'til the first of May - which is really retarded, but let's not go into that. The point is that it's too hot for my brain to function properly. Good thing it'll be dark when I walk home.

    That reminds me. At the start of the year, you always hear about one or two almost-kidnappings, and the RAs always warn girls about potential rape. They say not to walk alone during the night, but I have to wonder: who's going to assault a girl carrying a giant, heavy saxophone case? They should be more worried about ME attacking THEM. I can be pretty fucking dangerous with that thing.

    And on that thought, I should head off to band/anime club now. Just as soon as I finish listening to "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)." XD

    So, I decided that I need a somewhat analytical entry this time. Here's the situation: I'm not sure why, but I wanted to download a huge hentai doujinshi pack for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. And so it was. I've "read" through all of them now - or however much I can really read through something in a foreign language. There were a lot of things I noticed, many of which reasserted why I don't like hentai. Oh, and just to make things clear...

    Generally speaking...
    Hentai = no thanks
    Yuri = ...'kay...
    Yaoi = FUCK YEAH!

    Just so we're all on the same page. Although I actually somewhere in the ballpark of thirty doujins, I'm going to generalize down to a 10 set ratio. It just makes the numbers work easier. Naturally, I'm not entirely avoiding all nuisance variables, due to the fact that all of the doujins used the Haruhi franchise; I am, however, controlling them somewhat. So, here goes.

    Things I Noticed While Reading Hentai Doujinshis
    --------------------------------------------------

    - 8/10 doujins had girls sporting breasts each larger than their own heads (Mikuru being the worst offender of this). The bodies looked so ridiculously out of proportion that it was sickly and unattractive.

    - 8/10 doujins had chicks with dicks. While this IS Haruhi we're talking about here, it's still just a thinly-veiled excuse for yuri. And tell me guys: if you met a girl like that in real life, would you still think she was hot???

    - 6/10 doujins had breasts spurting extensive amounts of fluid. This is just anatomically incorrect - either that, or I'm missing out on an ability I wasn't aware I had. Then again, I suppose sixty percent of hentai girls could be nursing mothers with mammary disorders.

    - 7/10 doujins had the girls covered in various bodily fluids by page six or less. Let's not even go into how there isn't even that much fluid in the body that could be outpoured in that short amount of time.

    - 9/10 doujins focused on just the girl, with no face to go on the man. The 1/10 times that it did happen was when it was Kyon - and even then, he got perhaps 1 small panel for each girl's 10 panels.

    - 5/10 doujins showed the "in the body" shot - either of a body orifice being stretched circularly by the "invisible penis," or of a cross-section showing said orifice wrapping around the genital. This is little more than another excuse, this time to give the reader a sense of, "Hey, I'm the one fucking <hentai girl>."

    - 10/10 doujins had the thin black/white bars or mosaic blur to censor out the head of the penis, the opening of the vagina, or the clitoris. This is natural and accepted, as hentai artists could get into major trouble for not doing it.

    - 9/10 doujins followed the "order of operations." Man sees girl, man wants to fuck girl, man fondles girl's breasts/panties, girl resists, man tries anyway, girl gives a blowjob, man fucks girl (repeat twice, second time generally in the anal opening), man and girl tongue-kiss. It's simple, formulaic, and BORING AS HELL. The only exceptions to this were the few Kyon/Haruhi ones I saw. And even then, only one or two of those didn't follow the formula.

    - 5/10 doujins were of the constantly resistant, crying, big-breasted character with the annoying, high voice (that being Mikuru in this example.)

    - 3/10 doujins were of the outgoing, self-absored character who complains about everything being done (that being Haruhi in this example.)

    - 2/10 doujins were of the quiet, controlled character who only makes noises or changes her expression when near her orgasm (that being Yuki in this example.)

    - 10/10 doujins had the girl get sperm all over her face. I don't think you men realize just how many girls think that's GROSS.

    - 9/10 doujins featured girls with shaved vaginas. By the way, let me just say that a little rectangular patch of hair on the skin above the clitoris looks STUPID and I don't know why any girl in her right mind would leave that patch there. If you're going to shave in that general area, shave ALL of it or NONE of it.

    - 1/10 doujins actually featured some kind of emotional connection between the characters. This would be perhaps two of the Kyon/Haruhi ones. The rest were mindless sex, usually with Haruhi brandishing a camera and training it on Mikuru.

    To sum things up, I hated hentai before, and I don't like it any better now. It's truly only meant for men, as it exploits women in every way possible and shows nothing of the male side of sex. My only other thought to offer is this: don't take cues from hentai, guys. This unrealistic crap is giving you bad ideas about what sex is or should be like.

    I think that's all for now. I may post a "real" entry later, but this is enough material to absorb this time around.

    So, like, I downloaded a "new vid on the block" and found a really neat video! The source is the oft-used anime Azumanga Daioh, but it's not just random comedy. It's a really fun video with a plot and some incredibly creative editing. It IS based off of the original video, but it's still very inventive. Watch, watch!

    Currently pimping that one in my signature, because I really think it's worth it (especially since I'm not seeing a forum announcement for it).

    Anywho, ripped the music for my quickie video. I was gonna get started on the video earlier, but my brother's birthday present needed wrapping. Naturally, I gave it the "college student budget" treatment. Newspaper FTW. Hey, it actually has a pretty, frilly newspaper ribbon that I made taped to it as well. I wrote my brother a short letter too, since I can't deliver the gift in person.

    Anyway, back to the video. Surprisingly, even though it's a quickie video to a short song, I'm not sure if I'll have quite enough of the kind of clips I want for it. I mean, I'm using an action-oriented source with a slow, dramatic song (containing no beats whatsoever for me to sync to). It'll be a stretch, but it's not like I'm looking to make some amazing video with this one, anyway.

    I need some more yaoi doujinshis. This just occured to me recently. I also need someone to translate them for me. Oh, that reminds me. I saw something on eBay that pissed me off. There's this person selling Devil May Cry doujins. She'll translate them for you, but she charges *more than what the damn book is worth to do it!!!* Seriously. If it's a ten dollar doujin, she'll charge thirty dollars for the translated version. It's fucking ridiculous. I mean, all she does is write it down on a piece of paper, so you still have to figure it out yourself halfway. And she's charging twice and three times the book's value for this!? If I know a language, I'm not going to charge folks for me to translate something that's just a fan hobby. I would do it willingly. I mean, duh. And it's not like she'd have to translate a single book repeatedly. Just keep a copy of the first one you do! This just outrages me, to be honest - and I'm sure you've all noticed. Oh well. I'll find someone to translate for me someday, or I'll learn the language myself. After all, I am a fucking Spanish major. I ought to be able to pick up other languages easily enough.

    Still no response from tryth. He seems only to respond late at night, so I'll probably be in bed before he does - if he does at all. I did leave him room to decline (well, only a little), so I won't get mad if he does. I guess I just won't use IRC all that often, then.

    Hmm... yergh. I want my PS2. ;_;

    Oh well. I guess it means more coming from several people (one of which has authority on the forums) than just me.

    So, I watched Fall's video, and was surprised to see that he included me in it (with a little clip of Heather, no less). Like I said on the forum, it was a really inventive video. It paid tribute to other editor's without having to resort to jokes at their expense. Granted, insult-humor is funny, too, provided it's *taken* well, but it's refreshing to see something done in good humor as well. Nice work, Fall.

    Hmm... sad to see that DTSEM is no longer with the masses on the top ten percent. It was truly a beautiful effort. *teardrop* ;_;

    I almost regret not editing anything for it. Almost.

    On a similar note, I've found two songs that I could use for my quickie video. I just haven't decided on which one. It's not really a matter of length. They're almost the same. Stylistically, they're pretty similar, too. One's an anime opening and the other is just a short song. I think I may go with the non-anime one, because it has a few more distinct "beats" in it - and the anime opening is getting kind of overused. *checks* Heh. Yeah. 22 times so far. (The other song has only been used five times. Not too bad.)

    I kind of want to edit... but I have two huge tests tomorrow. I'm not worried about the biology test. I'm good at bio (because I really enjoy all life sciences), but the psychology one is going to kill me. I can barely identify independent and dependant variables, let alone put them into practical use. I really need to study my psychology. Oh well. If I fail it, it's only one. At least I'll know what to expect next time. And things like this have a way of working out for me. Even when I think I've done bad, I usually pass. Of course, if I don't, I won't be surprised. Just a little upset.

    My hands are cold. Oh. Could be cuz the fan's on. Maybe.

    Oh shit. Forgot about my clothes in the basement. o_O *scampers away to deal with that*

    My journal has 4014 hits. Do you people really think I'm that interesting? Or are you just that bored? o_O I'm leaning more towards the latter, personally.

    So, today's my brother's birthday. I wish I could have seen him today, but I have no car. Kind of upsetting, too, because I have no classes on Thursdays, so I could have spent the night at home and just headed back the next morning. Now I won't be able to see him for another month or two, because he won't be there when I go home. *sigh* Such is life, frustrating as it may be.

    So... RDS TV was on tonight. Too bad I couldn't see ANY of it. They really just need to stick to radio, since it's accessible to just about everyone. The TV is buggy, it buffers often, and only a certain number of people can be watching at any given time. That's just crap. I've never tuned into RDS before (because they haven't had radio since I first got interested in it), so I was hoping for something cool. As far as I'm concerned right now, SBS did better. : /

    Speaking of technical difficulties, I'm about ready to destory this stupid web IRC. I mean, it's laggy, it won't post my short phrases, it won't post my long ones, and it disconnects me about every hour. It's really pissing me off. I think I just need to ask tryth about the other option he mentioned. I think he called it X Chat.

    I would really like to start my video... but without that first clip, it's a no-go. In the meantime, though, I think I may do a quickie video. I'll probably upload it, but I won't announce it - or I'll just tack it onto the end of the announcement for the major project (they'd be using the same source, after all).

    Hmm... I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I suppose I should go to bed. Even though I took a nap earlier, I'm still sleepy now. I'm like that. I can sleep whenever. Anywho...
