    Another list of crap I need...

    That's it! I give up. An hour of searching was enough to completely frustrate me. Somehow, I managed to alter a setting in Magix, and now I can't get it to go back, even after closing and re-opening the program. It's the 'Intelligent Mouse Mode' - the one that has the mouse with the marching ants box next to it. It selects multiple objects and keeps them all grouped together, which can NOT be remedied with the 'Ungroup' button. I want to go back to 'Mouse Mode for Single Objects.' But I can't find it *anywhere* in *any* menus! I even read the troubleshooting and/or tutorial guide within the program. It tells me that the shortcut key is Alt+2, but that doesn't DO anything. In fact, none of the Alt shortcuts do anything. I just don't get it, and it's pissing me off. I wish I knew how I got INTO this mode in the first place.

    If any of you happen to have a clue as to where this option is (or why my shortcut commands aren't working), I would very much appreciate the help.

    On that note, I have six seconds of my video edited. Not much, but it's a lot of fine-tuning, so it's taking me longer to get anything done. I really like the song that I'm working with. It has such an addictive beat and melody. Moreover, the more I study the lyrics, the more I'm able to apply them to the source I'm working with. This'll be a good video. I don't know if it'll be my best or my favorite, but it'll definitely be good.

    Bah. I have a Spanish paper to write, not to mention two Spanish e-mails to write to my "pen pal" - who is really just a classmate. It's a class for conversation and composition... hence, all of the writing. Who knows? Maybe I'll write an entry all in Spanish sometime. Nah, people actually READ this journal. That would be too embarassing in the inevitable event that I make grotesque grammatical errors. I'll do it in my LJ. No critics to worry about there. XD

    So... I think I'm doing a day visit home this weekend. I hope, anyway. The guy I use as a ride is so unreliable (although, to be fair, he's a good friend, really). That's what the list is for. *points up* I'll grab that stuff, then head back late on Saturday night. I'll have all day Sunday to loaf around - as usual. However... I've been thinking of starting a new fanfic lately. I don't really have an idea in mind, but once I start writing, my stories usually take direction on their own.

    Maybe I'll do that. It would certainly make my best friend happy. ~_~;;

    Well, I'm out of here.

    See you, folks! (And Magix users, please help~! v_v )

  • Two hundred twentieth entry - ...stuff... 2006-10-18 00:02:45 Time - 10:08, Noise - Vast - "Touched"

    Another list of crap I need...

    Retrieve:
    Final Fantasy X and X-2
    Silent Hill 1-4
    Fatal Frame I and II
    DDR games
    Tsubasa manga?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Awsm. I finally decided to start my main "action" video today, even if that only means putting the song in the timeline. I listened to it again after I dropped it in, and I watched the waveform. It's one of the clearest ones I've ever worked with. Like, I could have the song on mute and I would probably be able to time it right on the major bass beats by just going by the waveform. Of course, the waveform isn't everything, and I would never make a video without using my ears to see how well the sync is done. It's just nice to work with something this defined.

    I skipped my anime club tonight. My friend who usually goes with me had to do some hardcore studying, so I figured it wasn't worth going. I don't actually go for any of the anime. I just like the people. The way I figure it, if I'm interested in an anime, I'm already watching it. For example, a few weeks ago, they started showing The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which I had just finished a week prior to that. While I skipped the club, I went to band - naturally. I wouldn't skip band without a good psychological or practical reason. I heart it too much. <3

    Today in my bio lab, we had a group presentation. Our topic was cancer, and my point was the cons of cancer. Well, that seemed a little obvious, so me and the guy with "pros" decided to focus on the good and bad of treatments. Putting that aside, I was the one responsible for the visual aid - really just because I offered to do it. There was a cartoon image of five stages of cancer, starting from healthy cells and ending at a picture of invasive cancer. It was a great illustration, but my printer (depsite having a new color cartridge) wasn't printing in color worth a fuck. I didn't want it in black and white, and the image was small anyway. So, I decided to take five individual sheets and just draw the stages myself banner-style. Easier said than done. It didn't take long to draw everything, but it took the better part of three hours to color in all of those little cells that I had drawn. I had such a bad hand cramp by the end of it all. Still, it turned out good, and my lab teacher said she wanted to keep it. I let her have it, of course. What use do I have for a cancer banner? My bad artwork is going to grace UW Platteville for years to come...?

    Hmm... not cool. I feel fine otherwise, but everytime I close my eyes I feel dizzy. Probably just from a lack of quality sleep. I had a very long weekend just last week due to "Fall Break," and I stayed up far too late during those days. Well, I say that, but I always stay up "too late" whenever I don't have to worry about early classes the next morning. I work better at night. My mind is sharper and more creative.

    I've been reading random journal entries lately (some of which I haven't read for a while), and I ran across Raven's entry about the feral kittens. I want a kitten, even if it is feral. ;_; Too bad, though. Can't have 'em in the dorms. It's not like anyone would ever know. I have a single room, and practically no friends, so no one ever comes in it. I could keep a cat here and no one would be the wiser... well, except when I'm dragging a bag of 9 Lives up to my room. That might be slightly suspicious. ~_~;;

    But a cat would SO be worth it. ;_;

    Meanwhile, my sister got a THIRD dog. Granted, those are like children to her, but I'm just not sure she has the money to have three dogs. I can't entirely blame her, though. Princess, who used to be my family dog before the neighbors bitched repeatedly and made us have to give her away to my sister to avoid police action (ULTIMA ANGRY FACE!), is getting old - not to mention the fact that she has epilepsy. The seizures have cut off some of her lifespan, and the drugs that she has to take (phenobarbotal pills, if I'm spelling that right, as well as a liquid) are bad for her, too. However, they prevent the seizures, so when you weigh the two things, I guess the drugs are preferable. Anyway, this means that she's probably going to pass away in the next two years or so. It's depressing that she'll die early, but she's such an amazingly gentle, sweet, and pretty dog that you can't just look at her and say, "No thanks, she has problems, so I don't want her."

    Yergh. I should get back to editing now. #AMV seems dead tonight. Oh... and I gotta remember to be in there tomorrow on the off-chance that radio is going. And I mean RADIO, not that piece of shit "TV" that they tried to run.

    Anywho, I'm off. Hopefully to edit. >_>

    Nighty night, folks.

  • Two hundred nineteenth entry - another list...? 2006-10-14 22:30:17 Time - 8:51, Noise - the soft, distant chatter of the girls in my dorm...

    I think I need to make another list. While I managed to retrieve most everything on the first one, I didn't bring a number of the things I wanted to but hadn't thought of.

    Retrieve:
    Final Fantasy X and X-2
    Silent Hill 1-4
    Fatal Frame I and II
    DDR games
    Tsubasa manga?

    There's probably more, but that's the "starter's kit."

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    What? Huh? Yaoi MEP? WHERE!? I was not informed of this! Ultima Angry Face~! >: (

    But I couldn't edit anything for a Yaoi MEP anyway. I don't own any yaoi anime~! (Unless you want to count the constant gay lovin' that is Cardcaptor Sakura.) Pretty pathetic, huh? o_O I didn't plan it that way - honest. It just turned out that my best friend bought all of the shounen-ai/yaoi titles and I bought... whatever looked enticing at the time that I had money. ~_~ She and I just swap whenever we want something, since it's cheaper than buying duplicates. But that's a topic that I've already gone into before.

    And I got a +1 Ego Boost just a little while ago. I was actually invited to a MEP. Of course, I'm not sure if that's something to get my ego jacked up over. Considering that I've never been in a MEP before, though... it's not too bad to have someone you don't know very well suggest that you check it out. So...

    +1 Ego Boost

    Anyway, here's the link to the MEP if you're curious (and if you would be interested or willing to join, please consider posting there):

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=73286

    In other news (although my daily life isn't exactly "news"), I've edited a little more on my quickie video. It's... not really a quickie video anymore. But I'm a notoriously slow editor, so that wasn't unexpected. I went back to a section I had "finished" and added an effect. It looks kinda strange at first glance, but it grew on me and now I'm used to it.

    Seems like I have a ton of videos I need to edit within a certain timeline...

    1. Finish the "quickie" video and the "action" video - announce them together.

    2. Edit a video for the "Anything Contest" that my local anime club is hosting. Probably using 'real' anime for the first 'real' time here. Idea is already solidly formulated in my head, so it shouldn't take incredibly long to do. Announce it sometime in December.

    3. Edit a video for inthesto's Videogame Music Appreciation Contest - which, by the way, I encourage the rest of you to go check out:
    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=73163
    Idea is already VERY solid in my head, since this is the video that went corrupt last year halfway through editing. Now I have the DVDs, useful/better programs, and more knowledge. Announce it after the contest concludes (around March?).

    4. Edit "THE Video" or edit "The OTHER Video." Since they both use the same source, it won't really matter which one I choose to do. I can probably work on both at the same time. Announce one or the other sometime after ACen, but prior to my birthday (May 26th). Hopefully, I can have "THE Video" done before ACen and I'll be able to submit it there.

    5. Edit "The Twin Videos." One source, two versions of the same song. Idea is very solid in my head for one, but not so much for the other. Announce as a double release sometime before the '07 year is finished.

    By the end of next year, and according to that timeline, my goal is to have finished about eight videos. An extremely lofty goal considering that it's taken me the better part of three years just to do twelve of them, half of which are either bullshit, bad humor, or crap. Yes, there's a difference between bullshit and crap. : /

    Bullshit - a bad video with no effort put into the creative process
    Crap - a video with a good deal of effort put into the creative process, but with poor results

    And with that, I'm off to go edit some more of the quickie video - this time with headphones. I keep thinking that someone is going to break down my door when they hear the same two seconds of cymbal crash sixteen times in a row. >_>

    See you, folks. ^_~

  • Two hundred eighteenth entry - why do I even bother? 2006-10-09 17:31:09 Time - 4:01, Noise - BoA - "Jewel Song"

    No more list, since I went home this last weekend. Got a bunch of stuff, and now I'm quite content.

    So... I wonder why I even bothered. I *knew* that if I posted in requiett's announcement thread, no matter what I said, he would find some snide, asshole response. He always does. Doesn't matter what the criticism is, good or bad... if it's made by people outside of his circle of "friends," he flames them.

    Now... you're probably wondering, why post if I knew that was going to happen? Well, for just him, I wouldn't have. However, this was a MEP, and I genuinely want to see what everyone (including requiett!) has put together. He's the guy I have to go through for an XviD version, because my computer is old and slow. Naturally, I get told that people who can't play h.264 shouldn't even be watching AMVs. Lovely. Another form of elitist bullshit that's going to flood the .org in the next year - because, you know, it's *completely* my fault that I'm a poor college student using a six-year-old hand-me-down computer that's maxed out on 512 megabytes of RAM. So sorry. I'll hop right to buying that top-of-the-line model - just to watch your MEP, req. All for you. <3

    : /

    On a more pleasant note, I now have a Playstation 2 in my possession again (this time, it can actually play DVDs correctly, too...). Therefore, I can play some games that I've sorely fallen behind on, as well as capturing that one damn difficult clip that decided to go corrupt on me. I probably won't be able to capture it tonight. I have homework and whatnot to keep me occupied. I might work on my quickie video for a bit, but I'm honestly not terribly interested in editing tonight.

    Anyway, it's dinner time. I'll probably make another entry later - or not. I usually don't when I say I'm going to. Oh well. Not like anyone really cares about what I have to say in my journal. Not like I have people gripping the arms of their chairs waiting for my next entry. Not like half of the site members aren't turning into cynical, uncaring bastards. Oh wait. Did I type that? Damn. My bad. Thinking out loud again.

    : /

    See you, folks.

  • Two hundred seventeenth entry - going home~! 2006-10-06 17:17:02 Time - 4:00, Noise - Sevendust - "Skeleton Song"

    My list is getting bigger... regardless, ignore it.

    Buy:
    PS2
    Printer paper
    Three hole punch
    Saxophone reeds?
    More burnable DVDs?
    CD holder (for anime DVDs)
    Headbands (2)
    Lead (and erasers?)
    Stuff for fridge?

    Retrieve:
    Chomp hat
    Back-up chapstick
    Jacket
    Money box
    New CCS boxset (take old one home)
    Mini-vaccuum
    DDR mat
    Other games
    Some CDs

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Killing time yet again - this time as I wait for dinner.

    Edited some of my quickie video a night or two ago. I'm about thirty seconds out of two minutes into it. I'm using some simple effects by messing with the values in Magix, but I don't expect anything too amazing. The video itself will be somewhat similar to Experimental Premonitions, except with more of a direction and better editing (although I suppose the latter is subjective). Since I'm going home this weekend, I'll be getting another PS2; thus, I can re-capture the clip I need for my main video.

    Of course, this is my other piece of "news." I'm going home for the first time this school year, which means I've been away for five or six weeks now. Mainly, I'm just looking to get the stuff on my list, but I also really miss my mom, my sibling, and Nicole. I'm dragging my mom out with Nicole to try sushi, whether she likes it or not. :3

    It's colder today, but it feels different from the other cool days. More permanent. I think we're finally beginning to shift to winter. Good deal, cuz I didn't bring a coat with me initially. I'll be able to snag it this weekend. Well, I use the word "coat" loosely. The heaviest coat I'll ever wear is my zip-up hoodie, no matter how cold it is. I just have a high tolerance for low temperatures - which is why I hate summer so much. I'm just the opposite then.

    I'm looking forward to winter, oddly. I hate tiptoeing my way to class over the ice and packed snow everyday, but it's so much better than sweating like a pig in sweltering heat. Seriously. Winter owns. ^_^

    Well, dinner is a-callin', so I'll be off now.

    See you, folks.
