  • Three hundred forty first entry - chipping at it again 2007-07-10 17:11:32 Time - 3:43, Noise - Bon Jovi - "Bounce"

By the way... 8077 hits. I like to note the thousand markers. Oh, and... quoted from another person's journal...

"Well I know alot of editors probably have reached this mark in there total downloads, but its kind of cool to look at that number, 10,000 local downloads."

    TOTAL: 637 downloads, 27.5 GiB

Yeah... that might be a while for me, buddy. But I can't really complain. My low number of downloads is probably due to me recently making several non-Final Fantasy VGMVs. My highest downloaded video is The Chosen Two (a year-old video using the game Fatal Frame II), but I wasn't surprised at all when Let the World Crash (a two-month-old video using the anime Saikano) quickly became my second most downloaded video. It uses "real" anime. Of course it's more popular.

On a different topic... man, if any of you shounen-ai/yaoi fangirls like me decide to make a Kyou/Yuki Fruits Basket video, just skip over the third DVD. There ain't a damn thing worth getting off of that one, or so I found. I got three clips, and they were only brief little moments that I probably won't even end up using in the segment.

On the upside, the first Yuki Fangirl Club episode does give a nice little moment of TV static that could be useful in the future. So, I nabbed that sucker. I've always wanted a scene of TV static.

...I just realized how very strange that sounds. ~_~

Shifting gears again... as usual, when in computer-related doubt, I ask my brother for help. I brought up the problem of the microphone to him today, and through some troubleshooting, we determined that it really is Jarred's fault that I couldn't get it to work. I have ports for headphones and a microphone right in the front of my tower - but they're not connected to anything. They may as well not even be there. So I have to use the plug-ins on the back of the tower instead. Okay, fine, I can deal with that. But then there was a software problem. See, I have this overly complex sound THING on the compy, and I have to pump every command through IT before I can do anything with the microphone. *sigh* I miss the days of Plug 'n Go.

On that thought, I may be able to Skype now. Depends if the compy continues to behave itself. Assuming I don't get sidetracked with a videogame, I'll probably hit #AMV tonight. Been a while since I've visited them.

And now... I gotta go back to sorting through the last DVD of Fruits Basket footage. I should be ready to edit by tomorrow, if not tonight, depending how many clips I have to render.

    See you, loves. <3

  • Three hundred fortieth entry - ugh. Headset. 2007-07-09 23:10:38 Time - 9:43, Noise - Mauro Picotto - "Proximus"

Okay, so I thought to myself, "Self: why not try out that headset you got ages ago for Skype-ing but never actually used because nobody wanted to talk to you?" So, I got it out... and hell if it didn't take me forever just to get the stupid thing attached to my ear correctly. And I only seem to be able to get the headphone part to work. No matter how I fuck around with the mic, it doesn't pick up any sound. Gee, guess I'm not Skype-ing.

Oh well. I stutter when I talk, anyway. Not like anyone wants to listen to that. I work better on a keyboard. *sigh* And apparently the normal mic that came with the computer doesn't work either. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Chances are that after I pitched the old tower and replaced half of my computer parts, I also fucked up the compatibility with some things. I've certainly ran into that problem several times already. : /

Cod, Jarred did a shitty job of building my computer. I should have never trusted him to get it right. Then, he somehow pins the blame on me for why things went wrong. Me. The person who knows next to nothing about computers. There are some days I'm amazed I remember how to turn the damn system on. And he blames ME. Full of shit, I tell you. Absolutely full of it.

I figured I'd be in a better mood, since my brother is working with my mother as of today, and I get the house to myself at night. But I'm not. Computer is being too stupid for that. Guess I should just go back to sorting and rendering clips - which is boring as hell, but it needs to be done.

    Nighty night, folks.

  • Three hundred thirty ninth entry - ZOMG PROGRESS 2007-07-08 15:40:27 Time - 1:52, Noise - my brother's adventures at work

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v711/dj_ultima_the_great/?action=view¤t=BeautifulTohru.png

Check out that hawt, hawt lossless footage. It's not quite ready to be used yet (and I'm not using Tohru, anyway), but it's at the quality par that I want it at. I need to fix the black junk on the borders and readjust the AR and resolution once I've done that, but it's basically ready for use. I'll worry about the size corrections after I'm finished editing.

To clarify why I'm messing with Furuba footage... that's the stuff I'm using for the pseudo-yaoi MEP. Yeah, yeah - I'm just NOW ripping clips. So sue me. I blame it on my extreme lack of HD space. I get nervous when I get below twenty gigs, because I've been known to use that much space in short order. When I started ripping, I had sixteen gigs. I think that should be enough to render all of the clips I need, but my space will be tight for a while. I already have a good idea of how I'm going to edit this segment, so it should go quickly. I hope it will get qualified just as quickly, too, because I need to turn around and delete all of the Furuba clips to make room for the Tsubasa clips I need for the Clow MEP. If I have enough time to edit for that. At this point, unless he extends the deadline, I may have to drop out of that project - which will be a pity if it happens, because I had a good idea for a segment.

I finally finished everything I intend to finish in Tomb Raider: Anniversary. I don't care about the last few artifacts that I can't get. I know what they unlock, and it isn't anything that I'm terribly worried about seeing. I got all of the relics, so I have all of the costumes, and that's mostly what I wanted in the first place. Now, I'm moving on to either Final Fantasy XII (again) or Dark Cloud 2 (also again). Whatever strikes my fancy.

Yergh. I really gotta find something to do while all of this is rendering. It's boring as hell waiting for it. x_x

    See you, folks. <3

  • Three hundred thirty eighth entry - intro? entry? Whatev, yo. What. Ev. 2007-07-07 01:19:33 Time - 11:47, Noise - Massive Attack - "Silent Spring"

Got some hardcore editing done today. Sure, it isn't on any of the projects I'm in, but at least I'm editing. >_> Even then, I didn't actually progress anywhere on the timeline. It was effects that I was inserting into the video part that I had already edited. Again, these are Ultima effects, so don't expect anything too special.

Brother starts work in a week or so. That means that I get the house to myself for a few hours a night for the next two months. That'll be nice. And somewhat creepy. Our house is a bit unnerving at night. Maybe I'll finally get around to Skype-ing, since people being here at home have kind of prevented me from trying that out... ever.

My bangs (which, for those that don't recall, I'm growing them out) are finally long enough for me to wear my hair in a different style. I parted it on the side, tucked my bangs behind my ears, and stuck a clip in the thicker half to keep my hair back. I have a lot of hair. x_x It's a cute look, really... which in itself is strange. I've never had a "cute look" before. I decided to try this style because I was getting sick of my headbands snapping on me. I think they were trying to tell me in a not-so-subtle way that my hair is too damn thick for one of them anymore.

I watched Reflections of Style 3 for the first time a day or two ago. I don't know why I didn't watch it before. I picked it up now for two reasons, really. For one, the trance MEP used ROS3 as a comparison for the hopeful project quality. Figured I should watch the reference if I'm gonna be in the MEP. >_> Secondly, I keep considering making a manga music video, and when the MMV thread sprung up in the forum, ROS3 was also referenced there. I'm always looking out for good MMVs to learn from for the future, so I snagged the video for that. (It's also for this reason that I have a TON of M@Ds on my computer - so many of them are just effects bullshit, and it's good to learn from the good AND the bad, I think.)

I managed to obtain every single secret and finish every time trial in Tomb Raider: Legend. It's kind of an easy game once you've been through each level twice or so. On the other hand, Tomb Raider: Anniversary is ridiculously hard in some parts. I've managed to snag most of the secrets in that game (I'd venture to say 95% or more), but I'll never be able to get all of the time trials. There's just no way to avoid the bugs in Lara's auto-responses in that game, and that's what ends up killing me half of the time, thus making the time trials impossible. I'm going to try for the final relic one more time in that game, and if I can't get it, I'm just moving onto Dark Cloud 2.

Hrm... I'm starting to not feel so well. I think I'm gonna go to bed now.

    Nighty night, folks. <3

PS: srsly. I have, like... eight gigs of M@Ds. o.O
  • Three hundred thirty seventh intro - paranoia, paranoia, everybody's comin' to get me... 2007-07-01 12:04:46 Time - 10:40, Noise - the profound sound of silence :O

    o.O

I hate bugs. They have it out for me, I swear. About a week ago, there were four spiders and one earwig running around the house. Two days ago, Mom swatted a bug on the wall (not a fly) and let it drop RIGHT IN MY BOX OF COLLEGE STUFF. Ugh! Last night at dinner, I went to grab a fork out of the drawer, and this huuuuuuuge beetle was wandering around in the silverware! It wasn't particularly good at climbing, so I was trying to figure out how to get it out of the drawer. I keep using a measuring spoon to herd it to the corner 'til I knew what to do. Finally, I asked Jonathan (my brother) to help me, so I somehow managed to finagle the thing onto that spoon and then dump it into a bowl. He took it outside for me from there. How humane of us. >_>

So, I beat Tomb Raider: Legend yesterday. It's a short game - only eight levels and the whole thing took me seven hours to do. As usual, I really loved the outdoor levels and really hated the city level - although the level in Tokyo didn't quite form to that. I loved that level because of the constant acrobatics... not to mention the ability to kick and shoot all kinds of awesome stuff. XD

The story was good except for one character that I just didn't understand them changing. The main one, as it were (not Lara). The ending left it wide open for a sequel, which makes sense. Lara Croft is forever the adventurer. If they adopt the control fluidity that was in TR: Anniversary, I'll be glad to play that sequel.

Is Legend the best game I've ever played? Nah, it's not even on my top ten. But it sure does feel good to get the talented Miss Croft under my thumbs again - in a game I actually enjoy playing, that is.

I gotta go now. See you, folks. ^_^
