Three hundred fifty first entry - huh? what? wtf?
2007-07-31 23:19:08
Time - 10:17, Noise - Nine Inch Nails - "Gone, Still"
Wait a minute... if I have a video that's 720x480... aren't I supposed to resize it to 640x480? Isn't that what the guides say? As far as I can tell, that's what they say. But then why does every project coordinator ask for 720x480 footage?
Cod damn it, I'm a n00b. ;_;

Three hundred fiftieth entry - shit, I left the milk out... -_-
2007-07-31 17:54:15
Time - 4:32, Noise - Nine Inch Nails - "Leaving Hope"
So... I finished editing my pseudo-yaoi MEP segment today. Spent three good hours just hammering away at the last forty seconds of it. I'm not sure what I think of it. It's decent... but the general lack of footage for Kyou and Yuki together kind of held me back. I kept wanting to do a lot more cuts, thinking there were plenty of scenes to use, but there weren't. The video is made in such a way that it can be a stand-alone release, and eventually I'll upload it that way, but I want to wait until after the MEP is finished and released to do that. It's more respectful to keep the tracks in secret until the premiere. Otherwise, half the project is spoiled before it even comes out.
Anyway, I'm uploading the beta now - and sendspace is being really stupid and slow. It randomly does that sometimes. I dunno why. Hopefully our coordinator won't have any issues with it, and I can just delete the Furuba clips and move on to something else. Don't get me wrong. It was fun to edit the segment, but I have other MEPs that I committed to. Although, since the Clow MEP's deadline had been drastically pushed back, I may not deal with that one for a while now. I'll probably finish up my FMV segment so I can ditch the Oni 4 footage, and then rip some sweet, sweet Fatal Frame (again) for the Sync MEP.
Erm... kind of embarrassed to ask this, but has anyone who reads my journal worked with Fruits Basket before and has a good technical knowledge of it? This is only my second time working with "real" anime, and I'm not too good at it yet. I think the AR on my footage is wrong, but I'm not really sure. The characters don't quite... look right. >_> I'm gonna read through the tech guide again to make sure I didn't miss anything, but I'll admit, a tutor would be nice.
I kind of half-assed the Saikano video, basing my judgments on my limited knowledge, the tech guides, and what I could understand from what Koop explained to me. In the end, it looked correct, and that's all I really cared about. That's why I question the Furuba footage. It doesn't quite look right the way it is now.
And sendspace just timed out my upload. Bastards. Y'know, I'm just gonna restart my computer. I think that may be the problem, not the internet. Everything's been going really slow today.
I guess that'll end my entry, then. See you, folks.

Three hundred forty ninth entry - corruption in more places than one
2007-07-30 14:56:41
Time - 1:05, Noise - Tomb Raider: Legend OST - "Bolivia"
And on the previous entry's note of forum posting, there's another member tendency that bothers me. A member will see a video announcement with music or an anime they like, then will post the obvious "/me gets", and then once he/she realizes its a crappy video, he/she never posts again. That's *really* rude. Maybe some of you are giving constructive quick comments or opinions after the fact, but for those that aren't, telling someone you're going to get their video and then never saying anything about it is probably the worst kind of feedback you can give. Be committed. Even if you think you're going to hurt someone's pride by telling them you didn't like the video, you should always be truthful and follow up your initial "/me gets" with some decent feedback. It's just common courtesy.
On a totally different subject, my best friend canceled out on me today. Again. She always does this. She'll say that she's going to spend some time with me, and then she mysteriously gets so sick that she can't come and see me. Ever since I started college, I've been getting the feeling that I like her a lot more than she likes me, and she's just looking for ways to get out of doing anything with me. Some best friend. But what can I really do? She's the only friend I have left anymore. All of my other friends, apparent backstabbers that they are, decided to basically cut themselves off from me after we got out of high school. I'd like to be emo about that... but really... I'm just pissed off. It infuriates me that these people just couldn't be honest with me in high school. Be honest and say that they didn't like me. I'd have accepted that. But this, "Let's slowly drift apart," bullshit... I can't stand this. It's like telling one long, drawn out lie.
One opinion left to write, and I hope to get it done today. I don't think anyone else is going to post in that thread, because the next post would be an exchange. Cod knows most folks don't want to GIVE any feedback to GET it. It's okay, though. It takes me forever to get around to writing ops, so most people end up waiting a week or more on me. I suspect this is partly why I don't get as many posters anymore like I used to. I used to be quicker - but my ops also used to be longer. Figure that one out.
Ever since the massive compy HD corruption in December, I've made new folders and new methods of organizing things while leaving the original folders intact. I didn't want to "contaminate" the new stuff by putting it all together and then forgetting which parts worked and which parts didn't. I still haven't had the heart to go through all of those folders and delete years of stuff that's now corrupted. In addition to that, I have to take time to replace many things. My video collection was just the tip of the iceberg as far as replacements go. I only have about three hundred videos - and I say "only," because that's in comparison to my 5000+ songs and 35,000+ pictures. I've been slowly tackling the music, but I do not relish the idea of sorting through the pictures.
Well, I really have to go do... something. I don't know what. Probably organize some Project FMV stuff. Still not everyone has responded, but enough have that I think I can make a sound judgment call on the things I need to decide upon.
See you, folks. Hope you all end up having a better day than me.

Three hundred forty eighth entry - dogs and instant classics
2007-07-29 15:09:03
Time - 1:18, Noise - my sister's dog whining constantly... -_-
So, I'm dogsitting for my sister while she's on vacation. She actually has four dogs, but we're just taking the two calmer ones while she kennels the other two. However, I'm quickly realizing that I wish I had only accepted one of the two dogs. We've got Princess and Chance.
Princess used to be our family dog until our asshole neighbor kept complaining about her barking and we had to give her away to Brandy to prevent either a huge fine or a destroy order. This is the same prick who kept trying to convince the police that we were neglecting her. Yeah, like giving her $100+ of medicine per month to prevent seizures from her epilepsy is REALLY neglecting her. So is taking her skin-and-bones 25 pound body up to a healthy 50 pounds, apparently. Oh, not to mention cuddling with, playing with, and properly training her. We MUST hate our dog if we do that kind of horrible stuff. In any case, Princess is an angel, no two ways about it. She's the most gentle creature I've ever known, partly because of the personality she's always had, and partly because she's getting old. I would gladly look after her for a week or more.
Chance, on the other hand, is Brandy's dog, and his brother Shadow** (the more wild of the two) is being kenneled along with the fourth dog Cassie (who is absolutely crazy and I *really* do not like her). Chance is calmer, but he's a puppy still for one thing, and he's also unsettled from being away from home and his "parents." I can understand why he's been whining so much. He's young and he wants to go back home. However, even though I understand it, that doesn't change the fact that I'm not a huge dog person, and I mostly find his behavior annoying. The main problem is that we have to keep him chained in one area of the house (he'll get into stuff otherwise), so everytime someone leaves his line of sight, that's when he'll start whining. I kind of wish that Brandy had just given us Princess for the week, but boarding three dogs is expensive as hell and I can't quite blame her for giving us two of them.
Guess I'll just have to suffer for a week - though it would be nice if I didn't have to do all the caring for them. Damn lazy mother is the dog person of the family, and she won't do anything for them. : /
**brownie points to anyone who knows to what the names Chance/Shadow refer. ;p
Now, onto something that's been bugging me a little lately. I don't think anyone really reads the rules of the recommendations forum anymore. Lately, everyone just posts the [vidid] and leaves. Um... read the rules. It says to post WHY this is a video you'd recommend, not just to post and run. Oh, and "cuz it's awsm" isn't a valid reason. Say something about the video. Say something like, "The beat sync is terrific, although the video quality leaves room for improvement." Is that really so tough?
Also, I'm getting a little irritated with people posting flavor of the week videos in there. Most of the recent posts have consisted of videos that have been out for less than a week - sometimes videos are even posted on the same day of release! Can't anyone just cool their jets for a while? Let the video sit and stew on your HD for a while. Watch it a few times over the course of a few weeks or months. THEN decide if it's really "the best of the best." I think people are jumping the gun with that forum anymore. Slow down a bit. Remember that this is supposed to be an archive of the greatest videos ever to a particular anime/genre - not an archive of videos that impressed you for a few days and then got deleted and never watched again.
Anywho, I guess it's a pet peeve of mine. I think I'm-a go edit now. Not in a game-playing mood today. Damn, I sure wish Tsubasa and xxxHolic would finish up quicker. >_<
See you, folks.

Three hundred forty seventh entry - music and editing
2007-07-29 00:44:48
Time - 10:11, Noise - Tomb Raider: Legend OST - "Himalaya"
The music in this game (and in Anniversary) is actually really well done. I realize that much of it is done synthetically, but I think that some of it may be real live orchestral stuff. Whatever it is, it's good stuff.
Edited quite a bit on my pseudo-yaoi segment a day or two ago. I'm worried that I'm changing up my style too much during each new verse/chorus, but it looks okay. I hope to have it finished soon, which is probably an excellent goal, considering that I *have* to have it finished soon.
O SHI- ...got distracted for... an hour. Well, I think I'm gonna end this entry because of that. Very short one this time, but I have a game to play!
Nighty night, folks! <3
